Apple iPhone 4G to be taller than its predecessor, sport a larger display?

Rumor

iphone-iresq-4g-parts

Like Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz, some claimed fourth generation iPhone parts have emerged from the corn fields business district of Olathe, Kansas. The supposed parts arrived at iResQ, an iPhone repair shop, and include a front panel which iResQ notes is 1/4 inch taller than the iPhone 3GS. This small increase in size could potentially translate into an iPhone with a 3.7 inch display, a size which is fast becoming the industry standard. The front panel also has a small reflective surface right above the earpiece that, no, is not a vanity mirror but may be a spot for the proximity sensor, a location that differs from the previous iPhone models. Bad news for those that are hard on their phone and tend to break not just the glass but the LCD panels underneath, as the LCD is reportedly glued to the digitizer and must be replaced together as an all-in-one unit. We don’t need to remind you that this dual-pieced part may cost a small arm and leg to replace. Last but not least, make sure your Martini glass is lined with a bit of salt as you’ll need those extra white granules while reading the unconfirmed contents of this post.

I don’t think a bigger phone is what apple needs. MULTITASKING is where it lacks. Till then it isn’t even a option. Oh yeah and it needs to get off at&t’s shitty ass network.

  • Suckers

Free marketing for a small repair company and a bunch of BS for the BG readers.

Honestly, would anyone be stupid enough to put their company name on photos they were leaking? I don’t think they’d be in business much longer…

Sometimes the criticisms on this site amaze me, usually its the blackberry getting the grief for being outdated and only incrementally improving new hardware rather than making revolutionary changes, now its the iphone and in both cases it is equally silly.

They aren’t like motorola with the razr just sitting back, they keep improving things without alienating their existing customers.

Motorola is moving forward, and at a faster pace than BB and Apple. I just dusted off my Storm and gave it to my roommate. I loved it when I had it, but 3 mos later on my Droid I don’t think I will ever go back, unless something drastic happens with their OS. As for my iPod touch, same thing, except it is just an app launcher and a really good media player, so I couldn’t see going to their device unless they enable more functions than just a bunch of apps. Sometimes you need to alienate a few customers, especially the ones that don’t want you to change a thing, they are the customers that are holding you back. Peace.

Obviously fake, why would a repair shop have the new iPhone screens?

  • http://attwolfpack.net Ken

Most if not all of the changes to the next gen iphone will be “Under the hood” as quoted from Steve Jobs homself he said most of the changes to the new iphone will be to the processor and the graphic interface of the phone.

If the screen were to be larger it would stretch to 3.7 inches which would not be a hugely noticeable difference…I would only suspect that they would be using the same processor (A4 1Ghz) as the ipad…

I wouldnt be too excited about the UI as there will not be major changes to it…I think we’ll have the ability to use wallpapers instead of starring into Black space…multitasking will happen…other then that the most obvious a 5 MP camera maybe HD video recording…I personally doubt it though…

The changes will just be enough for most to run out and get the new iphone….There are however too many restrictions and a closed environment is now hurting iphone in a big way…

By JB your iphone it makes it a much better phone and something actually worth keeping as you can customize…add themes, and do just about anything you can think of…plus have access to programs & content you’ll never be able to get on a regular iphone…

I don’t think the new iphone will have flash either , which basically cripples the user experience on Safari…which is a really nice browser but with the lack of being able to see flash content..it makes the phone actually unappealing.

Unless they plan to come out with HTML5 on the iphone I don’t see them coming to terms with adobe…although there are others that can do flash for iphone….

Bottom line is with the release of the new iphone it will do nothing more then pull them even with the competition…which does not position them where they once were when the original iphone released in 2007 They’re going to have to do things that are not seen on Nexus one, droid, or HTC HD 2 which will be seriously hards for them to surpass…you’ll most certainly will not see a 4.3 inch screen on the next iphone….it might have the Ram/Rom as it’s competitors do but will not surpass it…which already makes the impending release of the new iphone mediocre at best….

If it’s any indication that it will be fashioned after the ipad…then the decision will be easy to move forward away from Apple……

    Ken

  • Geez

    @ Miguel.
    You said it, not me

  • Scott

    @Ken,

There is already HTML5 in mobile safari.

    iPhone 4G I’m getting it……..

html 5 is here but it is not by any means a standard nor will it be in a year or two it still has a long way to go before it replaces flash using it as an excuse to defend the iphone is stupid because it is just something apple wants to stay away from they dont want to lose sales in apps music or vids. They also dont want to cater to the tech savy individuals because the iphone with multitasking might be too hard to use for a lot of the idiots that use an iphone because they will slow it down and have a bad experience, apple is focused on making money other companies now are focused on creating innovation in smartphones and the iphone is not a smartphone

Well…I sure hope this is not true! Then I would have to buy another cute case for my current 3gs iPhone!! ahhh.. stupid Apple
    :(

  • Joe

Looks fake, the bottom portion of the “bigger screen” is up 1/4 inch. It’s not parallel with the screen on the left so of course the top portion (which everyone is going to pay attention to) is going to appear larger.

    • connie reyes

      UH ON!!!

  • connie reyes

    what do you mean>?

I call BS as well. I did however really enjoy how the presenter used his beautifully manicured hands to indicate the dimensions of the different screens. Really makes the whole thing look that much more professional and of course legitimate.

I also have to agree with some of the other guys as well that the next iPhone (4G or whatever else you want to call it) will have to bring a whole lot more to the table if I am going to consider buying it. The 3GS although awesome was something of a let down considering what it evolved from (does that makes sense). I was hoping Apple would have pushed things along a little more. Considering their track record I am doubtful that we will see major changes in the next gen iPhone. Thoughts…

  • Joe

I will. I’ll also enjoy the 480×800 resolution for watching movies too. Oh yeah, and I’ll enjoy being able to run Android on it eventually too using DualBoot.

  • michael

better than holding your slong in your hand…

  • unknown

HOLY SHIT! A WHOLE 1/4 INCH! GOD! What ever are you going to do with that HUGE phone? *heavy sarcasm*

Jesus, Miguel…you make it sound like the HD2 is the size of a Motorola DynaTAC 8000X.

  • michael

I’m not “whiney”, re-read my statement and tell me once where i whined about the iphone?

And Apple is still second to RIM in the USA “In the U.S., Apple’s actually in second place behind RIM’s BlackBerry, outpacing Palm and, believe it or not, all Windows Mobile devices combined. The company managed fifth place in Europe during the quarter, despite shipping the iPhone in just the U.K., Germany, and France–and starting almost midway through the quarter http://tinyurl.com/yemypmh.”

and Third place world wide, behind RIM and Nokia…so STFU FanBoi and go home.

that first post was in 2008/09…. this second one is the first quarter of 2010… and RIM is still making the number smart phone in the USA…. Silly FanBoi, Apples are for kids

Yet for some reason, you are compelled to defend any negative talk about Apple products. Hummm….interesting.

  • Tyler

are you a robot do you get off calling everyone a coward and sticking up for apple products? Its seems to me you say the same thing to everyone who calls you out about stupid things that you say “oh you went to cowardly route by this and that” lol dude you really need to get off your mac and get a job lol.
ps i really can’t wait to see how you respond to this comment lol get some new material!

  • HO

Dude, either u need a good vacation or simply u love to argue.

On the other hand this picture (if true) only shows the same screen size but a bigger (larger) faceplate, not a big deal, the iPhone still lacks multitask capabilities, still limited by it’s OS and still not an Smartphone, all that unless JB which will make it half Smartphone, so far after 2 versions of it I’m glad to say I tried and gave it a chance but it failed, is just a fancy toy, then again we have to wait for the next iPhone which probably will still over limited by Apple and will still needs to be JB in order to run half the way as a proper Smartphone, as I c the future is in Google and Nokia.

  • Geez

(Chuckling) Just Damn Miguel! Just a little TMI bud.

  • Jill

Yeah, but as discussed in other posts, we are AT LEAST a year from it becoming standard.

  • Jill

Whaaaaaaa….poor little baby. Did he hurt your feelings?

  • Jill

Unknown is correct. Is 1/4 inch gonna make that much difference? Well I guess for a guy like you, a 1/4 inch could make all the difference.

The tone of your response to Mrwirez indicates that you believe Mrwirez made a “gross assumption.” Where is your evidence that it indeed was? How do you KNOW that the concealed battery ISN’T problematic? Where are your stats, kid?

Attention BGR: Miguel Alvarez (yes, the character from OZ) would like to be put in charge of the site. That is all.

  • Jill

It’s here now? What web site can I go to where I can see this new HTML standard?

  • Jill

Better question would be, what browser can I use to look at it?
