Breaking

aperture3

Something photographers have been waiting for; Aperture 3 finally brings all the features we know and love in iPhoto ’09, and meshes them with a new and improved Aperture software set. We’re talking about great organizatioin features using Faces and Places, brand new Brushes that let you paint effects on images, full 64-bit support for Snow Leopard, and even Facebook and Flickr uploading — all part of more than 200 new features. Apple has a free 30-day trial on their website or you can buy Aperture 3 for $199. Still, some new MacBook Pros would have been appreciated, guys…

    any chance that they stlll release the Macbook pro updates today? Or do we have to wait another week?

    Adobe has already established Lightroom as the industry standard and many of the features mentioned were available since version 2.0, which was released nearly two years ago. As a photographer myself, the proposition that photographers have been waiting for this is laughable.

    Yep apple is slacking. We might be witnessing the fall of apple.

      Yeah, it looks like Apple is practically ready to close its doors….

    Compared to photoshop, how does this software rank?

    Apple is the master of hype. Them taking down their store anytime they change anything means that they always get decent hype and coverage, even if they change nothing. I mean, this is literally software that no one really cares about, yet it got coverage on all the tech sites.

      That’s because they were all waiting for the MacBook Pro update…..still waiting. Good head fake.

    Excellent. I’m looking forward to the 64 bit integration. As someone who also uses Photoshop I also really like Aperture for quick edits to prep photos.

      Have you tried Lightroom for these tasks? Not sure about this new version of Aperture, but most of the talk I heard about previous versions is that Lightroom is the application that Aperture was trying to be. I use LR2 quite often and find it absolutely wonderful for my photography workflow.

    Isn’t this a site about mobile devices and the like? Why the hell is there an article about Aperture?

    • Newman

      After you buy it at the store you have to drive to get it home. Or if you buy it online, UPS has to deliver it to you. How are those not mobile events?

    I’m a photographer and have been using aperture 2 for 2 years. Works well for organization and photo management. Aperture combined with photoshop is the perfect combo for me.

    I was waiting for Aperture 3. I had been using Aperture 2 along with Photoshop so not everyone combines PS with LR.

  • jay

    @dp, I agree. LR2 wins hands down.
