Android 2.1 coming to Motorola CLIQ in March?

One of our Motorola connects just hit us up with some Android info, and it should get people excited. We’ve been told that an Android 2.1 OS update will be coming for the Motorola CLIQ next month, sometime in March. Drinks all around?

    thank god! I hate how can’t access all the Market apps like in my old G1. sadly, moto probably won’t allow that maps nav upgrade cuz the cliq has telenav…

    I read that 2.1 gives flash and multitouch… is that true? Will we see that on the cliq? How will the cliq interact with 2.1 multiple account feature? Will they update the Motoblur UI? I can’t wait! The cliq is going to be a beast (hopefully).

    That’s awesome news to hear, I bought the CLIQ the day it came out knowing it would ship with Android Cupcake but decided it would be more future proof with the extra RAM and ROM upgrade. I got nervous when Motorola decided to be coy about future updates. But if BGR is accurate, it’s just a waiting game now and I’ve been waiting since the summer so another couple of weeks doesn’t bother me any.

    The CLIQ holds a distinguished place in Motorola’s handset line-up as the very first product of a newly refocused mobile division. It’s an underrated handset that has some infuriating quirks but nothing that I don’t think a comprehensive update such as Eclair wouldn’t be able to address. I can’t wait for Google Navigation & goggles, system-wide multi-touch, and maybe just maybe Flash 10.1. =D

      if you buy it for $529 no, if you buy it for $179 n new contract yes. the phone has WiFi so u can just use it that way.

    Yo for ppl to navigation system update from android market it will have update as soon our phone hit higher then 1.5. Two if u guys have problem cliq is one u don’t charge your phone or turn it off at least 2 to 3 time a week.

    Like many people said this will be a great thing IF it happens. I’ve had my hopes up since the last rumored date back in january. Motorola needs to get their crap together and stop screwing with us. Come on flash 10!

    The only useful thing I can think of for the cliq is to use it as a projectile to fire at the head of the party responsible for releasing this buggy non-functional piece of crap phone that cost $200.

    I called T-Mobile a few days ago and they said they were NOT updating the Cliq to 2.1. Thinking it just might have been an unknowledgable customer service rep, I called a few stores. About half of them said it wasn’t getting an upgrade to 2.1 as well. The other half was unsure or said yes. I hope they do it. It would be nice to have a fully functional phone (like bluetooth). It’s kind of sad when my 10 year old $25 flip phone has beter functionality than a modern “smart phone”. Anyone else hear this from T-Mobile?

    yea seriously the update for other phones last year, i got off the phone with tmobile 3/28/10 and they said it was gonna come out in JUNE! when in February they said it was gonna come out at the end of march

    Well where is the flippin 2.1 update at for the motorola cliq?? Its April 3rd 2010 and no word on the update. Some one please help!! Total bs

    Is this just another rumor cause here we are on day 6 of april and nothing. When speaking with tmobile reps all I can get is some BS about 1.5. I’m tired of waiting for these rumored releases. I gave up my G1 for the cliq cause I wanted a better phone and all I got was a faster one running on an older version of android than myG1 had.
