HTC Incredible spotted, shot, stuffed and shown off

Rumor

htc-incredible-leak

Verizon Wireless already has a formidable Android line-up with the DROID and DROID Eris, but soon enough, it might just have the best thanks to the handset you see above. Known at the moment as the HTC Incredible, the candybar touchscreen was spotted in the wild this weekend and is reported to have the following specs: 3.5″ to 3.7″ WVGA capacitive display (believed to be AMOLED), 5 megapixel camera with dual-LED flash, optical trackpad (death to trackballs!), Snapdragon processor and 256MB RAM topped off with Android 2.1 with Sense UI. Sounds pretty nice, does it not?

Hit the jump for a video and a few more pics.

Thanks to everyone that sent this in!

Why is it so long? Do they really need to add additional spaces around the screen?

    • Dbag

Oh, maybe it’s necessary for components? Perhaps you should make a phone that’s only screen and be the first.

  • Miguel Alvarez

And it’s still not enough to pull verizon out from bankruptcy. They keep investing in unreliable underpowered technology. The only thing that can save verizon is to get the iPhone and that will never happen because apple refuses to deal with their crippling of devices and the CDMA (which went out with the commodore 64) slooow crap network. Verizon should’ve been investing in their network, now their to far behind times. Sucks_to be them or especially the customer. Glad I left when I did.

    • mistamista

Wow…Not sure where you’re getting your info from but Verizon Wireless is not in bankruptcy. Verizon (not wireless) did have layoffs recently so you may want to do some factchecking prior to posting. Over the last few years all Telco’s have had layoffs. Wireless is a seperate entity.

    • thegreatino

you obviously know nothing of wireless technology. CDMA is actually a very good technology and has similar potential to GSM, but technologies like LTE are receiving more investment and development.. which is why vzw is switching to the GSM 4G standard, LTE. Also, its not apple that doesnt want to go to vzw is AT&T that doesn’t want apple to go. on another note, EV-DO Rev A is far faster in the real world than what AT&T currently uses for 3G which is HSPA. Not to mention vzw reliability is outstanding.

    • mario

you are such a fuckin’ moron jajaja you don’t even know what you are talking about. Read a fuckin’ paper at least.

    • bozemanMT??yeahright

      gee…………….. I’m almost speechless.

I think I’ll just LMFAO at your negligible stupidity. I really hope your just trying to cause harm to verizon with really bad mis-information and your not really just that stupid.

    • Joe Butler

Verizon invests more money than every other carrier back into its network. It is also common knowledge that Verizon has the Largest and most Reliable Network out of all the major US Carriers. If you don’t like Verizon thats one thing but don’t resort to flat out lies to try and convince people as ignorant as you that you’re peddling truth.

  • forgethtc

    256 ram? fail

  • Harvey

    CDMA/GSM hopefully?

    • Ian

      God, I hope so.

  • tibo

What the heck is that red cover !?

  • WhipperSnapper

Looks like a cute version of the Supersonic, haha maybe it will grow up someday into a Supersonic?…
-honestly though its a right direction for phones, Snapdragon=good, htc, 2.1, etc=all good, 256ram=bad
    -gotta have at least 512mb

    Miguel Alvarez….

Are you high? Your comments are just about the most pathetic attept at a troll as I have seen. Maybe you should put down the keyboard and go out and ride a trike. Let examine your statements shall we?

And it’s still not enough to pull verizon out from bankruptcy. (Seriously, you are talking about the most profitable Wireless carrier. If Verizon is in trouble you can double that for pretty much any other carrier) They keep investing in unreliable underpowered technology. (Unless LTE is considered “unreliable &underpowered” you have no clue of what you are talking about. Talk about unreliable and underpowered WiMax anyone and HSPA+?) The only thing that can save verizon is to get the iPhone and that will never happen because apple refuses to deal with their crippling of devices and the CDMA (which went out with the commodore 64) slooow crap network. (Actually, Apple wanted to deal with Verizon the first time for the Iphone, Verizon didn’t want to pay the fee’s Apple wanted from the royalties on the Data plans nor did they agree to the service pollicies (not allowing Verizon stores to service the device) so it didn’t materialize. You will see a different result with the next round as by all accounts the newest iPhone will run LTE and the Qualcomm chipset. Verizon hasn’t crippled devices in 2 years and it’s time for this crap to stop. I mean seriously. Will you say the same thing about the Ipad because of it’s lack of Flash support nor the ability to multi task? Did you say the same thing about the iPhones inability for nearly 4 years to NOT support picture or video messaging? I mean, fair is fair right?) Verizon should’ve been investing in their network, now their to far behind times. (This one is especially laughable. You do realize Verizon spends more per year on their network than the other big 3 comined right? Unless your Luke Wilson, you know Verizon’s service levels and Network is FAR better than any other network OVERAL. Now, that doesn’t mean there are “dead zones” but Verizon win’s coverage awards EVERY year and no other carrier can say their coverage is better overal. Not one.)Sucks_to be them or especially the customer. Glad I left when I did.

    • bozemanMT??yeahright

      Yeah,

That idiot really doesn’t deserve a response. My guess is that most people here are industry professionals and educated consumers. I doubt anyone here takes him or his statements seriously.

      But, well said

  • NunyaBusiness

    Isn’t that a 4.3″ screen like the HD2?

I thought VZW was getting an EXACT copy of the HD2 that had the IDENTICAL specs (4.3″ screen, 1ghz, RAM), but running Android 2.1 instead?

If not, why are people under the opinion it is a 3.7″ screen on this VZW phone?

For the record: I’m not buying anything without a hardware QWERTY like the Touch Pro’s.

    • Zach

No based on everything that’s been released online Sprint is getting a Android version of the HD2 and if you compare how wide that screen looks to the screen of the incredible you’ll be able to see it’s smaller.

  • Allan

For those of you complaining about the red back cover, it’s just a back cover. I’m sure HTC did it in regards to The Incredibles having the color red, not because of Verizon. Anyhow that screen looks like it’ll be a 3.7″. Hopefully it has more memory than 256mb, we’ll see!

  • K Monkey

hrm…I’ve got about 2 weeks left on my 30 day return policy for my Eris. Think it’d be worth it to take back the Eris and wait for this?

    • cb

It would definitely be worth it to return your Eris, that phone was old news even when it was released.

    • BobH

My wife loves the Eris phone. All depends on what you need it to do.

  • Frogford Ryder

FINALLY … a 1GHZ Snapdragon on Verizon. Hopefully the 256MB is a mistake (I suspect it is 256MB for programs, similar to other Android phones).

  • BobH

And people wonder why Engadget Mobile pulled comments and now allows people to turn them off.

People – don’t respond to posts that are obviously there only for a reaction. Just mark them down and they will go away.

  • BobH

I’ve heard rumor that the Incredible is the Bravo for the US. Any truth to that?

Also, will Nexus One come to Big Red if it gets the Incredible? They are almost the same phone….

  • Michael

I hope this means that the Eris will get that 2.1 Sense update soon! I’ve been waiting very patiently……

  • ron l

Eris will always slack behind other droid phones. Bet it stays at 1.5 till June or July..Then to 1.6
I guess there was a reason why this phone was free

    LMFAO

  • Tom

Would the real Miguel Alvarez please stand up. I’m really confused. I only want the real Miguel. His real comments are very on point.

  • Peter Cuevas

Will this be better than the Nexus One?

    • Kyle K.

Meh, apples to apples. All depends if you like HTC Sense -or not.

  • http://BGR.com DannyDarko

Hey Miguel I cannot say this enough get a f-ing life all of you mindless Sapple zombies coming on great sites spewing your nonsense rhetoric .Let me guess your part of the trend generation huh early 20′s clueless consumed with your own superiority get over yourself then maybe you will be able to figure out what actually comes outta that hole in your face dipshit!

This comment has been seriously disliked.

And it’s about to become more disliked.

Enough with this “click here to see” shit, already.

It was humorous the first, oohhh, 250 times… Or was it?

I’m a nerd, but that shit had its 2 seconds in the sun.

  • http://www.nexushut.com nexus one case

Though its performance wasn’t completely top-notch and we would prefer a more recent Android OS version, the HTC Droid Eris is a satisfying Android device that offers a nice contrast to the Motorola Droid. And you can’t beat the price.

  • Jenny

    what do you mean?

Ahh…Miguel’s definition of “management” – take down all posts he disagrees with. Miguel, for this kind of omnipotent power, you should go start your own tech site. Otherwise, either quit bitching about peoples posts or don’t visit BGR. Turn the page, kid…

  • Andrew

This phone looks awesome, minus the orange back. Hopefully it comes in all black.

  • cozy

HTC incredible is running on Android 2.1 with HTC Sense, and as our tipster confirms, it’s running with a Snapdragon CPU (and is described as “fast, really fast”) with 256MB of RAM, and has a 3.5-3.7″ WVGA screen.
Not so shabby indeed. More details: http://is.gd/8rOEa
