Google and NSA team up to protect the cloud

NSA Google

The Washington Post is reporting that internet search giant Google, and America’s electronic security agency, the NSA, will be teaming up to analyze data from the recent cyber attack that is believed to have originated from China. Neither the NSA nor Google is commenting on the partnership, however the Post has an anonymous source who claims, “the alliance is being designed to allow the two organizations to share critical information without violating Google’s policies or laws that protect the privacy of Americans’ online communications.” The Post went on to say, “the deal does not mean the NSA will be viewing users’ searches or e-mail accounts or that Google will be sharing proprietary data.” What do you think? Does the thought of the NSA working with Google make you feel more secure?

    Well at least we know that if the next frontier of war is over the net, we know which side Google is on.

    • Mike

      Of course we do, the one who pays the most.

  • Tomm

    @Miquel Alveraz- you fucking idiot! I’ve lost family members protecting the rights that we all have! Name one service man that would go house to house and try to dissarm America, or want to have another civil war. WTF go back to mexico!

  • Sugar Grove

    @Tomm,
    We hear ya and understand.
    Most of us know the costs associated with free speech. he may have just meant without the 2nd amendment the first wouldn’t exist.
    and that more Americans died in the civil war than any other war. In any event no manner how foolish, how uninformed we fight give those the opportunity to speak.

    They tuuk er jobs!

    If China invaded Google HQ militarily, Google would ask the Army (or Marines, Air Force, Navy, whatever) for help. If they were broken into and robbed, they would call the police department (or the FBI). When they are attacked electronically, they ask the NSA for help. I don’t see how this doesn’t make sense. This is what the NSA does.

    And for all you “privacy” nuts. You could just leave all your stuff unprotected and maybe let some hacker in China take your personal information (if they care). Or you could ask the NSA for their help in protecting you and maybe let some hacker in Maryland take your personal information (if they care). Your call.

    • Steve

      Thank you, well put. Who the hell cares, they don’t give two shits about your data unless your breaking some law or doing something extremely illegal. People always worry about the government having your information when it’s obvious a identity thief cares more than the government about your bank statement.

    Scariest words in the English Language,

    ‘I’m from the Government, and we are here to help…’

    @Miguel
    You’re bouncing around here a might. Between the Constitution and an organization the espouses aspects of that and what their agenda is.
    It shows a passion for your beliefs.
    Your statement is being muddied however, I read it as
    the Constitution is to protect the people from a tyrannical government and not from the people.

  • James

    If Google is involved with it, I trust it.

  • Don

    Wait..did you really say you are more worried about the NSA working with Google then you are about a cyber attack from China? Really? I think you need to go back and start over again from the 3rd grade.

  • Sugar Grove

    Lest you think your not already being spied on.
    Read the legal info on your iPhone. They even disclose that google may or may not use the data disclosed by your map searching.
    Think some ads show up in your mail by accident?
    There’s a nice little thing with the 866 phone numbers called “who’s calling”
    since the phone company owns these numbers
    you cannot block who you are when calling one of them.
    Businesses use them to know what ad your calling about before they even pickup the call.

    This makes me feel the same way as if the story read, “N. Korea & Iran have joined forces to create a mandatory reading list for American 4th graders.” Sorta gives me the chills…

    Wish the world could just get a long, let face it chances of this happening are slim. Glad to see the US is on top of web spy’s though (I coined that phrase by the way).

    Well, the Chinese government has it’s hand in everything, including your online transactions. You really want Uncle Sam to leave you alone at the expense of all your personal info being stored in the database of a foreign country with no laws to protect you? I’m willing to bet you’ll change your tune when they import your vitals back to the US and run up tons of debt in your name.
