Google to launch its own business application store?

Software

Technology companies are scrambling to jump on the application store bandwagon which has blossomed in the mobile arena and is now moving into the netbook and desktop computing realm. The latest app store venture may be originating from Google, which is rumored to be developing its own suite of business applications designed to compliment its Google Apps service. Google already offers a solutions marketplace with tools and add-ons for Google Apps, but this new business pursuit would expand upon this solutions marketplace and offer applications from Google’s software partners in an attempt to deliver its partner’s products and additional services more easily to paying Google App customers. Business productivity would be the focus of this venture and its crosshair would be aimed squarely at Microsoft.

Wow cool! I just can’t wait for local lunch ads to pop up on my office documents showing a eatery at 11AM

    Go Google

    Give us more ads

    We want ads.

The problem with your joke is there are no google ads when you use google docs. Like, I get jokes about google and advertising… but at least have some truth behind your humor.

Oh, so it’s ok to sign away your life for 2 years to a corporation to get some paltry discount on a gadget, but if it meant you had to look at a commercial every now and again, it’s so wrong? Come on. STFU.

And for the rest of you… you do have the brain power to understand the difference between an App and cloud/ghost computing, right? Like, you absolutely understand that a spreadsheet app, dowloaded and installed to a device, is NOT the same as accessing Google Docs online, right? And that no where in this article does it even mention Google Docs or cloud computing? Like, you understand that OpenOffice is an “app” you downloaded to your PCs, right? And that MS Office you paid up the ass for was an “app” you bought and installed, right?

Yeah, you all knew that, I can tell from your comments.

Paying customers don’t see ads. In fact, across the entire Apps platform, even freeloaders don’t see ads.

Pull yur head outta your arse before you complain, loser.

When will Google be able to have my babies?

    • Nerdherder

I’m about to sell my remote baby birth service to Google, so very, very soon.

Google is late to the table – er – table t.

Here’s a novel idea, Google, why don’t you finish something first, like Google Apps. And for that matter, why don’t you put in place a customer service team that actually responds to Google Apps inquiries in a timely manner. We waited months to upgrade from Sites to Apps with no word. How long can you float on hype? The press and public have been exceedingly kind to you–overlooking your darker ambitions and half-baked products, while lauding your successes. What will you do when the tide turns?

i want to be apart of it? can’t wait for the google futures”

  • miguel alvarez

    Nevermind…I’m a gigantic douche bag…

  • Bill

Given that you’re unable to attest either way about the security strength of the Google API for these “apps,” you asssume them to NOT be secure?
