Browser Share Jan 10

Browser market share data for January 2010 has hit the streets, and it looks like Google’s Chrome and Apple’s Safari have gained a little — and we do mean a little — ground. Chrome posted a 5.2% hold of market share in January, up from 4.6% in December of 2009. Apple’s Safari came in with a 4.51% share, up from 4.46% the previous month. Firefox and Internet Explorer both lost a tiny bit of ground in January; IE 62.2% which is down from 62.69%, Firefox 24.41% down from 24.62%. Opera was lumped into “other” on our chart, but registered 2.38% of the browser pie. Per usual, IE and FF still dominate the browser landscape with over 86% of market share. Anyone out there switch browsers recently? If so, which browser did you move to?

I’ve mostly used FF, due to it’s unmatched extensibility, but I’m using Chrome more and more. Safari on the PC side of things is … fairly irrelevant … as can be seen by market share. Chrome definitely is coming into its own as can be seen by it’s already outstripping Safari.

Definitely where Chrome is a way better than FF is portable edition.
FF too extensively uses hard disk (USB flash in this case), and it slows the whole system. So I moved to Chrome.

Remember, the last news about the firefox being the most-pop browser since December last week 2009? and Internet explorer as the second — Safari 3rd.. and statcounter calling Google Chrome as ‘others’, Now just a span of 1 month. Chrome claims the 3rd title. And maybe just maybe a future domination starting with the IE 8. An in-depth review: http://bit.ly/firefox-most-popular-not-so-sure

Who say’s chrome will be deadlast now?

    ty for the link..

Chrome here. First they improved the javascript speed tremendously and now with the bookmark sync and extensions my life is complete. :)

I rarely use firefox and basically only use IE for Microsoft sites. Chrome still has its hiccups and doesn’t work with everything (i’m looking at you adobe and dell!).

Chrome is awesome, but doesn’t have any ad-blocking. I use Firefox while in windows and Chrome in linux (because it’s way way faster than Firefox for linux.

I think this chart should also show those who are forced to use IE for work reasons, and if so, which browser they would use given a choice.

I’m one of the few Opera users out there. It’s fast, secure, and it has so many features built in that Firefox and Chrome need extensions for. It’s such an underrated desktop browser. People should give Opera a try. Opera FTW!!! :D

Where do I fit in if I’m using all 4 for various reasons? At this point Chrome on my Mac is stellar, but my website only can be edited on Safari. I need an all purpose browser!

I switched to Opera fairly recently as well and so far I’m loving it.

Firefox just would not act right. Lots of crashes, slowdowns, etc, and chrome didn’t seem to have the extensions that I really had to have.

Like Darryl said, Opera has most of that stuff built in. I love it. Not going back to Firefox.

Opera sucks, I’ve never seen a web browser crash as much as that did.

    Firefox -> Chrome -> Firefox

Chrome still doesn’t render certain pages correctly. I love Chrome, but missing SIMPLE functionality is a dead end.

    Opera all the way.

    +1 for Opera.
