Steve Jobs disses Adobe and calls BS on Google

News

Picture 1

If you had any doubts about Steve Jobs’ confidence and convictions after returning to Apple from his sick leave, it’s time you leave those at the door. The revered CEO announced a hotly anticipated device last week and followed up by burning the competition. On Google, Steve Jobs said that its motto “Don’t be evil” is bullshit (Steve’s words, not ours). Clearly, Steve-o isn’t phased by the Nexus One while he boasts the three billion apps sold from the Apple app store. Regarding Adobe, Steve apparently went on to say they’re lazy and are squandering so much potential. Wow. And Flash? According to Steve, no one will be using Flash in the future; it’s going to be all about HTML5.

Is Steve Jobs’ boisterous attitude completely without warrant? Or is he just telling it like it is? Let us know your thoughts.

You still don’t answer the writers question….uestion…..

Apple has and will always be below average hardware at above average price selling to people that are not technically adept and have above average income. Most people I know that use Apple products dont know the difference between a cpu or gpu. When they have a problem, which happens quite frquently, they are forced to deal with Apple’s degrading service since Apple’s share of the computing market is still miniscule.

Sorry, I buy superior products made by everyone but Apple because of my engineering and elctronics backround. I enjoy having the ability to do what I wish with my hardware and not be told what I can or cannot do with my computing and phone devices. Not to mention the ability to upgrade at a price half that of which Apple wants for a lower performing upgrade.

Seriously, when are people going to realize that Apple will be bankrupt within five years due to Steve Jobs pissing off everyone except fanboys of Apple products.

Oh yes, I had an ipod that crashed. When Apple refused to repair because they insisted I misused it by jogging with it, I demanded to speak to higher management and informed them their commercials show people dancing with the same ipod I had. I was able to exchange my ipod after threatening to contact my state attorney general.

Now they are doing their smae tricks with ipad showing what is obviously Flash they dont support only having to remove it after being caught.

    Apple Sucks!
    Steve Jobs Sucks!

Well… the baby doesn’t have everything he wants and so he’s crying.
Google is trying to make an OS and a phone, so what? When Apple wants Google’s stuff they just go and take it!

If Google’s mantra “Don’t be evil” is bull**** then why don’t they simply say:
“Steve, guess what! You want maps on the iPhone? Well you’d better prepare many helicopters to take off because you’ve got A LOT of click click to do.”

“Steve, guess what! You want YouTube for the iPhone? Well get ready to cry for Adobe’s help because from now on you’re going to have access to it just via the web”.

THIS is a way to kill the iPhone.

And Adobe…. SHAME ON YOU STEVE: ADOBE SAVED APPLE! If it wasn’t for them, developing for the Mac when the Mac was dying in 1993-1997 the creative community would have left the platform.

And they didn’t even have the possibility to work for good on a universal binary version of CS2: when Apple announced the Intel switch, suddenly Adobe stopped selling CS2 for obvious reasons.
They had to develop CS3 way faster and port it on a new architecture at the same time, thanks to Apple.

And now Jobs is secretly planning to switch the default search engine in Apple’s devices from Google to Bing (who the hell uses Bing?!). Just like an angry kid.

What a shame… coming back to Microsoft again.
In 1984 he was angry with IBM, and then he had to buy their processors for decades.
Then he was angry with Microsoft, and now he has to sell shares to them, cry for help every 2 years for MS Office while AT THE SAME TIME HE THROWS S**T ON THEM WITH THE ADS.
If Google is “evil”, what are you?!?!?!

Steve! If you don’t stop acting like a kid angry with the world you’ll always be a LOSER!

You had every good luck in this world: people designed exactely what they wanted for the iPad, you just had to build it, 100% sure to sell it!
You took the ideas for the first OS from Xerox for free, the whole kernel for the second OS from Unix, free again!

What the hell do you want for God’s sake?!?!? Everybody to kiss your feet????

  • zigi

I don’t hate Apple just the dick head Steve Jobs. Support flash or drop dead ass wipe. If I knew about this I would never get the iPhone 3Gs

  • evulhotdog

Haha, what about flash based sites? video tags are used for playing video. There is still a lot of potential in flash based sites and games. Obviously there is javascript but it can only do so much.

  • Drew

Well, if you’re making all of these concessions for the sake of the battery, then you have a flawed product. Your coding is bad if your OS cannot perform using flash. Everything I hear is contingent on the battery. How about a better battery?? Why can’t you improve that?? No multi-tasking because of the battery. That’s just a weak ass argument. Make a better fuckin’ battery!!!

  • SteveJobsCanBlowMe

Hang on everyone….Miguel is about to tell us which Fortune 500 company he runs…..

  • SteveJobsCanBlowMe

MIguel, I’m not acting omnipotent. I’m simply pointing out that Apple has had and continues to have a roughly 10% market share. They will never be Microsoft. They will never be IBM. Apple is a relatively small player in the realm of personal computing and cell phone manufacturing. They will always be a small player. Granted, they are the largest of the small players, but they are still running only approx. 8% of the OS’s in the world compared to a mammoth 84% that Microsoft has.
    http://www.w3counter.com/globalstats.php

  • SteveJobsCanBlowMe

Thanks Miguel…we all knew we could rely on you for concise feedback and for well thought out and researched responses. Whenever you actually have a point to make, then please, by all means, feel free to write back.

  • Head Honcho

SO since he runs a company he can be a jerk and a total ass. Makes sense. I prefer to run a company and keep the attitude to a minimum even when we do dominate he market. You know less enemies, easier to work with other companies, less companies that want to kill you product and to hate on it. Or then you can take the attitude he does and and say anything you want because there are enough people that will just buy anything you make no matter what you do. Not saying they don’t make good products but there enough people out there to support apple reguarless of what they are putting out at this point. They could make complete crap and it will sell.

  • SteveJobsCanBlowMe

Well I think I’ve made my point pretty clear….Apple has 10% MARKET SHARE!…That means 90% of the market goes to companies that don’t offer what Apple has to offer. For all the “Apple is an innovator” B.S. that we hear, you would think that they would be in the lead. They aren’t…by a LARGE margin. So…if we actually READ the article above, when Steve Jobs stands up there and screams about how Adobe is lazy and Google is evil, it looks pathetic and sad.

  • SteveJobsCanBlowMe

Miguel…thanks again for your concise and well thought out responses. It is a pleasure to have you here.

  • SteveJobsCanBlowMe

Miguel…this is not the iPhone OS vs. Android vs. WinMo discussion. Furthermore, the point of the link wasn’t to say the Apple specifically stole trade secrets from Moto. The point is that they ALL of these great “innovators” stand on the shoulders of others. Google from Apple. Apple from Microsoft. And so on. But to act as if Apple is some “golden child” is naive and just plain wrong.

  • http://www.applebythehour.com Jarrett

    @ SteveJobsCanBlowMe,

Microsoft had 98% and now the have 84% and you think this is a good thing for Microsoft?
Apple had less than a 2% market share and now they have 10% and this is a bad thing for Apple?
Maybe my math is just different, so give me a minute:

Microsoft loses 1/6 of it’s market and that is good.
Apple builds up 5X’s of it’s market and that is bad.

I hope you don’t invest your money yourself. If you do, don’t let your wife know.

  • MarkJames

    And what are YOURS Miguel?

  • Mike

Miguel…you offer nothing to this discussion. It’s no wonder that your comments are constantly being downgraded. Instead of actual intellegence, it seems that the only thing you are good at is asking moronic and dim-witted questions and personally attacking people when they don’t hold the same opinion that you do. My advice to you would be to take Steve Jobs’ dick out of whatever orifice it is in you and think before you speak. Take some time to actually form a cohesive thought and then try form complete sentences.

  • Jill

“What exactly would you expect the publisher of a competing platform to say? “They’re visionary”?”

The same question can be asked of Apple, or more specifically, Steve Jobs. What would you expect him to say? Of course Steve is going to say “Adobe is lazy and are squandering so much potential.” REALLY STEVE? That’s why EVERYONE ELSE USES IT?

  • MarkJames

    @Miguel
You must work for Apple….thats the only explanation for your idiocy. Why dont we ask Steve Jobs what the magical tech bridge is? HE’S the one that stated “it’s going to be all about HTML5.” Next time, log off from your World of Warcraft session before you spout off nonsense.

  • Mike

Miguel….that is exactly my point. There is nothing out there RIGHT NOW that can bridge that gap. But saying they WILL NEVER coexist is short sighted. Without Flash support RIGHT NOW, Apple and Steve Jobs bring us an incomplete internet experiance. iPad users will not be able to access the full range of Web content, including over 70% of games and 75% of video on the Web. If a user wants to use the iPad to connect to Disney, Hulu, Miniclip, Farmville, ESPN, Kongregate, or JibJab—not to mention the millions of other sites on the web — they will be out of luck.

  • Jill

Did you not read what was posted? Not including Flash support on the iPad leaves out huge parts of the internet experiance RIGHT NOW. Apple is missing the boat on this. Ive been an iPhone user for the past 2 years and the lack of flash support is short sighted. There are so many websites I simply can’t use because of this, even ordering a pizza from my favourite restaurant is a no go because the website uses flash, facebook is so basic because 90% of the content is flash, it’s just unreal that Apple is still refusing to support flash on the iPad! WHAT’S THE POINT IN A GROUNDBREAKING IDEA LIKE THAT WHEN IT WON’T DO WHAT A CHEAP NETBOOK CAN DO?

  • Jill

“You -STILL- cannot get from Flash to HTML5?” Okay Miguel…so screw trying to make a groundbreaking device right now? Is that what your saying? Apple should wait 2-4 years until HTML5 get developed and THEN they release the iPad? God you are an idiot. We’re not talking about grandma and kids playing games. We’re talking about 75% of video currently that uses Flash player…70% of games…and tons of other Flash related materials on the internet. Adobe its partners in the Open Screen Project are working to enable developers and content publishers to deliver to ANY device, so that consumers have open access to their favorite interactive media, content, and applications across platform, REGARDLESS of the device that people choose to use.Unfortunatly, it looks like Apple is continuing to impose restrictions on their devices that limit both content publishers and consumers. Unlike many other ebook readers using the ePub file format, consumers will not be able to access ePub content with Apple’s DRM technology on devices made by other manufacturers.

  • Jill

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/02/02/AR2010020201812.html

Miguel…please read this in its entirety before responding.

A quote from Adobe CTO Kevin Lynch:
“We are ready to enable Flash in the browser on these devices if and when Apple chooses to allow that for its users, but to date we have not had the required cooperation from Apple to make this happen.”

Steve Jobs says Adobe is being lazy. The question to ask him would be: Why is it then that the next version of Flash for smartphones, 10.1, is about to become available and that practically all other smartphones will support it, including Android, Blackberry, Nokia, and Palm Pre? If they can handle it, why can’t an iPhone? Or the iPad for that matter.

After Mr. Jobs gets done butt-fucking you, maybe you can ask him….

  • MarkJames

Miguel, no one is holding a gun to anyones head forcing them to use Google or its products. Furthermore, I haven’t seen ONE factual piece of news that supports ANY of what you are saying. You know damn well that the moment anyone caught wind of Google “farming out” personal info that Google would go the way of the Dodo bird….

    @SteveJobsCanBlowMe,

Well, I wasn’t at the meeting. I can say that for better or worse Apple does everything in their power to not use “technology” that as a company they feel will hurt their brand.

    Cheers

    Posted from BGR Mobile (iPhone).

  • Jill

This is the claim that SteveJobsCanBlowMe is referring to…it was right above your post…

  • Unknown

I’m not a spammer. Simply pointing out that Flash DOES work on Android….

  • Jill

Hey dip-shit….do you EVER research ANYTHING before you post?

The HTML5 editors are Ian Hickson of Google and David Hyatt of APPLE. It’s a joint venture.

    Dumbass…

  • Jill

Dude..I dont know how to make this any clearer. We aren’t discussing a “bridge” technology. We are talking about Apples lack of support for Flash. I have no doubt that, ONCE IT’S IMPLEMENTED, HTML5 will become the new standard, leaving Flash to slowly die off. Flash is the standard RIGHT NOW. Not including it your mobile phone os says one of two things: A.) You don’t know how to implement it or B.) You are unwilling to implement it. In either case, it makes Apple and Steve Jobs look just plain ignorant.

    HTML5 isn’t here yet.

    Flash is.

And Apple, no matter how much they wish HTML5 was here, still lacks a COMPLETE internet experiance on the iPhone and the iPad because they don’t implement it. I know that YOU probably could care less if you have Flash or not on YOUR mobile device, and that it may not affect your experiance with it, but most people do….

  • Jill

“Apple is only recognizing that the crossroad where Flash intersects with HTML5 is concerned is here now, and they are parting with the past.”

We are in the here and now. Jobs says Adobe is lazy. Everyone else supports it. Apple doesn’t. And Apple doesn’t support it by choice. Palm does. RIM does. Android does. And Nokia does. Are all of these companies less “visionary” than Apple? In short, no. They are just responding to the demands of the customer. Customers want a FULL web experiance in their browser so that what the developers gave them. Do you not think that once HTML5 comes out that these developers will begin to use it? Of course they will. But they, unlike Apple, realize that HTML5 isn’t here yet and so they use Flash.

“Someone has to be bold enough to move in this direction and it has to happen at some time — very soon.”

HTML5 at the earliest is about a year away. Not having Flash support for now until HTML5 comes along is just plain stupid. By not allowing this technology to “encrouch” into the iPhone market Steve is ostracizing a good portion of market share and is being short sighted.

“Why do you take this SO personally? Give up the rancid hate and realize that Apple’s decision means nothing in the big picture.”

Miguel…I’m not the one who stood up in front of a bunch of employees and started screaming about how Google’s company motto is “bullshit” and that Adobe is lazy. Steve Jobs did. I’m not the one screaming at the top of my lungs having a tantrum saying that Adobe is “squandering so much potential.” If anyone is taking this personally, it’s him.

  • Jill

“Each of them have every right to speak frankly about their competition and partners.”

Yes…And I have a right to my opinion about their statements. Jobs is foolish to rely on technologies that don’t exist yet as a way to appease those thast want current technology. NOT HAVING FLASH is the same as buying a car without a radio and ac/heat. Will it still get you from point a to point b? Yes. But it won’t be nearly as great of an experiance driving. Furthermore, when EVERY OTHER car manufacturer has these options, the one without is going to be left behind. I LOVE MY iPHONE! I don’t want to see it get left behind….

  • Jill

” he is most likely tired of the BS floating around the industry, as Google and Adobe are trying to keep up with what APPLE HAS CREATED.”

That is the quote from MB….

Adobe is trying to keep up with what Apple has created? Oh oh….I get it. Everyone is scrambling to keep up with Apple. Right….thats why EVERYONE ELSE USES FLASH AND APPLE DOESN’T.

  • MA’s Lost Sock

Personal attacks show where your interests lie, Miguel. The fact you attack a complete stranger on family and financial issues leaves little doubt as to where your personal situation is at.

Who cares what people want on their phones? If they will pay for it, who cares? If you can’t move away from this dialogue, how about you take a break and sit on your hands for a few minutes so you stop embarrassing yourself?

  • MA’s Lost Sock

Miguel, if that is your real name, I can put oodles of credentials here, but that doesn’t mean I actually hold them or deserve them even if I graduated one course or another. I could just be accredited out of the wazoo, but if I have sold out to a company, some ideology, or anything other than the facts, what worth would my opinion be?

What kind of credentials would satisfy your curiosity? What if someone with the appropriate credentials debunked your viewpoint, would your opinion change? In my experience, arrogant people usually don’t listen to reason.

What’s clearer to me now than ever is that arguing over trivialities with someone who won’t offer information he demands from others is a waste of everyone’s time.

  • MA’s Lost Sock

I’m sorry Miguel, I take my comments back, I did not read the comment from MrBlowMe, and that is my fault.

Please don’t let this apology detract from the fact I and others, obviously, believe you’re rather arrogant and defensive, attacking people on a personal level. Look how often your comments have been rated so low that one has to click on a link to view your comment. That must mean something. Just saying.

  • MA’s Lost Sock

Actually, after reviewing the comments, I stand by my previous submissions. Will you deny the numbers BlowMe brought to the table? He may have asked for your credentials, but won’t give his, can you deny the numbers he entered into the conversation? Otherwise, it’s just semantics and again, a waste of time.

A fanatic is one who can’t change his mind and won’t change the subject.
    – Winston Churchill

  • MA’s Lost Sock

I think you need to lighten up. If you’re so intense in everything you do in your life, from buying soda or looking and critiquing American Idol, I bet you sleep probably 16 hours a day.

  • MA’s Lost Sock

And I fail to see how you can put me in the category of a blind “torch-and-pitchfork bearing” member of a mob, and that I take comfort in technology (???) Which side of the conversation do you think I’m on, anyway?

  • MA’s Lost Sock

I see what’s going on here – you think I agree with MrBlowMe. I never said I did.

Go ahead and read my comments again, erase your cookies and vote all of my messages down again, and you’ll find I did not support his opinion. All I said was that you don’t seem to know how to argue.

He was bringing numbers to the conversation, which are units of measure, and you were bringing insults and requests for credentials, which bring nothing to the conversation. So, in a nutshell, what I was telling you is “Hey, Miguel! That’s not how you argue facts. You look at the numbers and agree, disagree, and bring proof.” You failed in two of these actions. Fine, you disagreed, but you didn’t bring facts or actual verifiable information.

I don’t care for Steve Jobs, I don’t care for Microsoft, I’ve owned a Mac, I would again if I could, I use an XP laptop, and have a PC with Ubuntu serving my websites. So, now I hope you understand my standing here – I’m not a rub, nor an apologist for any hardware or operating system used on any platform. I have an opinion on what Mr. Jobs said, and I have shared that opinion below.

Other than that, I am glad you think you can analyze a personality thoroughly using only a few postings on a web forum. Congratulations, and may you prosper with your fantastic gift.

  • MA’s Lost Sock

I don’t understand what you’re implying because you’re being a little vague here and not dealing with the issue at hand, but thank you for pointing out things that really don’t apply to me or my opinions, though.

  • MA’s Lost Sock

    I’ll use your tactic here.

Why would I argue with everyone when focusing on you is such a treat?

  • MA’s Lost Sock

Then please point out a single post in this whole board showing a valid, valuable post entered by you, sir.

You’re right, you’ve been pointing out people you thought were spammers, but all you’re saying is that they are spammers. No counterpoint, or anything else.

I’m giving you one last try, and then I’ll go mull over you said and chuckle a little more, then probably forget your blathering while making dinner for the kids.

  • MA’s Lost Sock

HAHAHA! Doctor, heal thyself. You make accusations and claims of spamming while offering no actual data to support it, and you say I can’t be taken seriously?

    YOU ARE HILARIOUS!

You’re right, there is something wrong with the statement I made about your failure to grasp the logic behind arguments – it’s totally wrong that I had to say it in the first place. Obviously, you still don’t get it, cause you are still not offering any valid counterargument. You’re like OJ SImpsons’ lawyers, attacking the system, and not the facts.

It is a pure pleasure reading you beat around the bush.

  • MA’s Lost Sock

Self-evidence is hardly an argument – you must think we can read your mind as you can read ours.

Ok, this post is the last one, I promise! Take care, I kiss you, say hi to your mom, and I’ll probably see you on the street corner, but don’t take it personally if I walk across to the other side of the road and take the other sidewalk, cause you know, you might be contagious.

  • Jill

Yeah Miguel…I hate Apple. I hate them so much that I bought an iPhone3GS, a Macbook, and have an iPod….all from a company I hate. *sarcasm*

Miguel, if anyone is disturbed and has an irrational hatred for anything, it is you. You have a hatred for anyone or anything that criticizes Steve Jobs, Apple, or its products. We get it. You love Apple. You’re a fanboy. But please stop trying to impose your views on everyone is such a negative and harsh way with personal attacks. It is very childish. Just because me and others take issue with something Steve Jobs says doesn’t mean that you get to swoop down and start shit talking someone just because they disagree with the statement. I don’t agree with his statement that Adobe is lazy. I feel that Apple needs to support Flash for the time being until HTML5 becomes the standard.

  • Jill

    Isn’t that the point of a DISCUSSION?….

  • Jill

Are you done yet?…..I think I can actually hear you crying…

  • Jill

Or the screams of the Apple FANBOY echoing in everyone ears…

    Nothing more. Nothing less.
