TechCrunch is reporting, under good authority, that it has information indicating sales of Amazon’s Kindle has already surpassed the 3 million mark. Analysts had predicted Kindle sales to eclipse the 2.5 million unit mark by the close of 2010… yes, that is 500,000 more units sold 365 days early. The report comes on the heels of impressive Q4 results, as Amazon posted a net sales increase of $9.52 billion, up 42% year-over-year; 37% when adjusted for a favorable foreign currency exchange rate. Net income for Q4 was $384 million or $0.85 per diluted share, a 71% increase year-over-year. As always, you can hit the links for more info.

If you’re wanting to read a book, how the hell do video games come into play?

    $439 for the Kindle

    $499 for the iPad

It’s worth it for the color screen alone.

    How it’s not a Kindle-killer going forward, I don’t know.

Actually the kindle is only $259.00 and it includes the wireless data for free. Notice how I didn’t say AT&T.

Don’t forget Kindle books are $9.99 or less for best sellers, iBooks are to be around $12.99-$14.99 for best sellers.

One site is reporting an after event interview with Steve Jobs where he said that the Ipad book pricing was not set yet and would compete with Amazon’s pricing.

    • Mikee

Aside from your inability to read pricing details, you’re neglecting the fact that E-ink, like what is used on the Kindle, was invented particularly because reading an LCD screen for hours on end can strain the eyes.

As an ebook reader, the iPad is a step backwards in technology.

the Kindle DX is 489, so the other guy may have been talking about that. I as well want to get an iPad, from a development standpoint i think I can design some nice apps, so I would need one for testing.

Happy for Amazon, but I’d rather get the ipad…

  • justjohnmichael

yeah, definitely like the ‘easy on the eyes’ e-ink that the Kindle brings to the table. since there is a relatively easy hack for using the kindle for internet use also, why not?

What’s with all these comments that have nothing to do with the topic?

  • Tdot34

LMAO has anyone seen this yet? Hilter on the iPad

Thats awesome, I think the same skit was done on Michael Jackson’s death. Hey, Hitler hit on some valid points with lack of multi-tasking, flash and camera. I still think this will sell like hotcakes…look at all the publicity its getting. I have a Kindle 2 which I got just a month ago, I’m hoping that the Kindle won’t go by the wayside too soon. The E ink is nice and easy on the eyes though and a lot easier to read than the Kindle Iphone app. I’m holding off on this until I see some upgrades with the Ipad. Apple is going to do it again.

Nothing on the topic but your mom has a lot to do wit sucking my big fat juicy D I C K

the kindle is great but i think the ipad will be better. what do you think?

    • jonathan

Yes, I agree. I actually have the Kindle 2 which I just got a month ago and now worried that the Ipad will eventually send it into extinction. I will succomb to the Ipad in time, maybe sometime late this year. I had originaly planned to get a netbook, but the Ipad will do just fine for my needs. I already have an ultra-portable laptop XPS from Dell so the Ipad would fit right in the middle where apple positioned it to be. I would prefer the multitasking capability on the Ipad, but can put up without it. This will be a hit with the non-tech crowd. This is touted more as an entertainment device, so very little work related programs can be done on it. It may not be as successful as the Iphone, but I believe Apple is more focused on the Ebooks and Apps from the Itunes store to really gain the revenue instead of the hardware.
