Verizon Wireless to store managers: Wednesday is a big day

Breaking

Uh oh. More Apple tablet-related news? It would appear so, as we have just been briefed on what could be a solid Apple / Verizon connection.

One of our connects just told us that Verizon Wireless has a “kick off” event in the beginning of every quarter that covers and goes over new things that are in the pipeline like devices, products, services, etc. for store managers. Except, this kick off is coincidentally on this coming Wednesday, and additionally, we’ve been informed there will be a “live webcast” that everyone attending will be viewing around 1PM ET. Use your imaginations and let them run wild in the comments — we’ll see if this turns out to be related to any sort of Apple product/s pretty soon!

Thanks, Eugene!

If BigRed gets the Iphone they probably will not sell it in stores. Big Red is very particular about products they carry and sell. The primary reason Verizon turned down the iphone the first time is due to warranty and Insurance availability. Job’s doenst want the device to be covered under insurance, verizon won’t carry it….I think it will become available to VZW but you will have to buy it from apple and walk in or activate as customer provided equipment. that way verizon is no liable for anyhing that happns to the device. and apple makes a fortune in repairs like they do now….

    Oh how i drool

  • Gene

LaToya you turn me on ;-)

  • David

    LaToya,

I think you are confused… When people say Verizon is getting a 4G iPhone, they mean the “4th Generation” of the iPhone, not the 4G band. I know its a bad name to use, since it can be confusing.

It will still run on their current 3G network..

  • That Guy

Signs point to the next iPhone being 4G on Verizon because Apple was in talks with Verizon a few months back about having the iPhone on Big Red. Apple said they would make one only if it is 4G if I’m correct

  • VZSprextel

Wrong. Only 100 million will be covered by Verizon 4G in 6 months. Sprint’s 3G network, if you factor in data roaming with Verizon (ex-Alltel agreements) and others, actually covers 269 million people.

Prior to the Verizon/Alltel merger, which brought VZW to 284 million people covered with 3G, Sprint’s 3G network was tied with Verizon as the largest in the US when you factored in the data roaming, and Sprint said they were the “largest 3G network” in TV ads as recently as early last year (until VZW told Sprint to pull the claim off the air).

fuck you troller.. wtf are you saying?

  • StevenGlansburg

Verizon definitely needs an iphone that MIGHT work in something like 10 cities

  • RF Technoweeny

Steve try 30 by EOY. 100million POPs.

Work alittle harder, you have better info.

Sprint’s coverage sucks.. I can officially say since I’ve been using them for two months. In reality, At&t and Verison are about even. T-mobile has coverage everywhere (whether it be theirs or roaming), but it’s usually not as fast as At&t or verizon. I won’t be with Sprint much longer. I will see what happens with the new iphone or whether Google finaly get’s something Android worth buying for either T-mobile or Verizon… At&t and Sprint have lost my trust and business.

  • StevenGlansburg

wow, for it being so late at least EST I’m surprised at how many of you already downranked me for expressing the truth. I didn’t even bash Verizon.. fucking losers

  • dee

get lost.. the two of you

  • mulda71

“Verizon just has coverage and that’s it”

    Yah that little thing….

I dont mind paying 10 bucks more for service that works everywhere I go.. but you know what, I look at the other carriers and they’re not exactly cheap.

  • lobo

Hey cowdick… stop trolling.. Fuck you! Yeller? :D

  • lee

Seriously? The two of you get a room..right now!.. and wham-bam yourselves… to your hear’s delight! :D

  • StevenGlansburg

while you are just some dude pretending, it is in fact sad that there are people that actually talk like that in real life

  • Robert May

the big announcement was that Verizon shares will slip even further, more employees will be fired and AT&T’s subpar network continues to thrive/fail on Apple’s coat tails.

I’m going to need you to come in on Saturday…..

  • kevin

too bad those phones are all on a shitty network

  • YouDontKnowMe

I guess it depends on what you want in a phone. Don’t get me wrong the Bravo and Nexus One are pretty nice, but so is the Droid and Eris. Personally I don’t like the Pre or Pixi and I also think the HD2, X10, and N900 are crap.

  • vzwempl

Bull, all of those phones T-Mobile has are lame. Nothing special at all. Smartphone manufacturers know that T-Mobile’s 3G is almost non-existent, way worse then even AT&T so T-Mobile basically gets the left overs. But hey if you want cheap service and don’t care much about the quality of the network then T-Mobile is the right carrier for you.

  • YouDontKnowMe

Did a VZW official come out and publicly beg for the iPad or iPhone that I missed? What makes you think the VZW even thought this had anything to do with them? Sure, maybe some of the customers did, but that’s only cause of sites and forums spreading the rumors. I don’t think anyone official made that type of connection a single time…

  • Mikee

A tip from a nobody to BGR means Verizon wanted devices and didn’t get them?

That’s a pretty fucking ridiculous claim.

Verizon and Apple will work out that agreement themselves, behind closed doors.

Latoya, please answer this question honestly. Did it hurt when your mom shit you on a rock and let the sun hatch you?

  • Celz

Sprint missed out on the last round smartphones because we are getting all the best phones next round.. you think the droid, nexus one, and pre plus are good.. Wait till you see what Sprints next exclusives are.. They are floating around and they ish on everything out right now including the droid, nexus one, pre plus, and that ipad crap…

  • Chris

Unfortunately you are mistaken. The next iPhone will be based on 4G technology. Whether or not Verizon can utilize the 4G capability is yet to be seen.

All major carriers are in the process of converting to 4G, like Sprint, however it costs a lot of money and a lot of physical changes in order to offer such capability. This is why it is taking Verizon and ATT so long to convert. They have the most customers and the largest networks in America, thus the longer timeline to convert their technology.

Both Verizon and ATT should be 4G by next year according to data reviewed by independent researchers.
