  • Blackberry Bold

Unfortunately, I will not be getting one. I need to know which phone will have google map navigation. That feature is a must have for me.

My old Verizon contract ran out a year ago. Ever since the *2009* CES, I’ve been waiting for the Pre to come to Verizon! Finally got it this morning and I LOVE it!!

palm pre…come on seriously? I got my NEXUS ONE today and my friend bought a pre plus. we put them side to side to see wich one opened apps faster #1.N1 see which one had the better camera resolution #1.N1 see which one had the most apps for free #1.N1 there is really not a contest when it comes down to compare a phone thats sooo 2009 against the newest HTC/GOOGLE release (which BTW rocks!!) if i had verizon i would NEVER get a palm pre EVER!! not even if it was free without contract (maybe if its free and only to sell it on ebay) hahaha

try which one multitasks 10x better im pretty sure the n1 will lose. I love android and own a droid however they cannot multitask like this and aren’t as open source as this. The nexus one and pre are really for two different types of people anyways and I don’t really feel like getting into it.

I can wait a second to open my app’s anyways and you haven’t really compared anything useful….

Yeah too bad T mobile has the crappies coverage ever and has to drop price plans to get customers

I did the palm pre today. I already own a iPhone 3GS, a Droid, and now a Pre. I knew it was not the most advanced os but its not that bad. A pretty solid phone. First it is smooth and fits nicely in my pockets like nothings there in my jeans. Its small and very compact but not too small. Keyboard is tight but usable. I kinda like the card app style os. It is a beautiful design with smooth edges. I like it for its size. I’m happy with it. Now the bad…. No predictive typing is texting and no spell correction in texting. The pre will not make you look smart. You look like you look with Pre. I still have my wish list Nexus one and next iPhone just Waiting on other carriers.

Am I the only person who likes the Pixi more than the Pre plus? The form factor is so much better. The specs may be inferior but I personally think the Pixi is a very cute and capable phone. With the verizon version having wifi, the pixi is the perfect first smartphone for a lot of people.

It’s too bad Sprint had to be used like this. They got very little buzz or hype for these phones/Palm’s attempted comeback and now Verizon got better
versions of their flagship products anyway. WebOS does multitasking better than anyone else but it’s only a matter of time before Apple and Android step their game up. Heck, even windows mobile and blackberry will get their crap together and evolve. Where webos goes after multitasking and synergy will be very interesting. One thing that I do know is that I have zero chance of switching to a Palm product until they announce some fresh hardware. Palm needs to have to ditch the physical keyboards, expand gesture area, and develop a virtual keyboard in order to have a chance against the iPhone. Most importantly, they need to quit pulling an Apple and hurry the hell up with their Flash support/video recording patch.

Got the Pre Plus early, used it for a couple of days, it’s way slower than I remembered webOS being when I had the original Pre on Sprint, back on the DROID now and I’m as happy as can be.

    I’m seriously considering it.
Along with HTC Touch Pro2 and Droid Eris.

    PPP:
+OS/UI looks good and like open platform
+Like the idea of small/BB-style physical keys
    +Capacitive screen with multi-touch
-Apps availability is dismal even a year after launch
-Battery life does not look good
-No GSM radio for international use
    -NO micro SD
-WiFi feature interesting but NO WAY I will spend another $40 on top of my data plan to get tethering-regardless of how slick. Payment to Verizon will be more than a car payment pretty soon!

    HTC TP2:
    -Really don’t like idea of heavily-skinned WinMo6.1
+Like big display and phone features
    +GSM radio for international use!
    +Nice big slide-out physical keys

    DE
+HTC Sense is nice UI on top of Android
+Nice that upgrade to Eclair coming soon
    +multi-touch, pinch to zoom, etc
    -No Flash support on browser
    -No physical keys
    -Camera sucks
    -No tether support
    +MicroSD
    -Limited navigation capability

I’m really on the fence here. Nice that the price is pretty reasonable for the PPP. Wish we could tether with the standard data plan and wish there was more activity with apps.

I’ve been on Palm phones since the VisorPhone, and I’m a big fan. I switched to Verizon a year ago, and with rumors of Verizon getting the Pre, I paid more for the Centro (which paled in comparison to my Treo 650, but has got me through). Now, I’m glad that my bet paid off, but I’m going to test drive the Droid before I make my final choice. My friend got a Droid, and I’m not very impressed with the look and feel of it. The Droid keyboard is to flat with no separation between the keys. I supposed I’d get used it if the email client and browser on the Droid impresses me more than the Pre. Does anyone know if either browser will handle captchas? The archaic Blazer browser on my Centro can’t, which prevents me from doing a lot of things on my handheld.

they both should, both use webkit to render webpages.

The GF has been waiting for the Pre to come to VZ forever, being a hardcore PalmPilot T3 addict. Especially after watching me play with a Droid for months she really got the itch to combine the flip phone with her beloved organizer. At the Verizon store last night she called and audible and ended up going with the Pixi, which needless to say was a (small) relief to my wallet :-p.

Actually, I wanted to get the Pre last year when it came out. Unfortunately, Sprint has horrible national coverage so I opted out until Verizon decided to offer it. Twelve months later, the whole wireless world is standing on its head and changing at geometric rates. I’ve put the brakes on since 2010 will be the year of the mobile phone and I want to make the right choice. Droid, Nexus, Tour 2, and iPhone to come to Verizon; what’s a person to do? Who wants to throw their money down when something better will come out next month (i.e. Tour 1 early adopters)? Plus, it appears that more and more manufacturers are introducing 1G processor’s…why would I want anything else? I’m going to have to pass on the Pre…old news and old technology.

I had a Pre and Pixi from Sprint and returned both – the Pre’s hardware is dollar store cheap and feels like it will break in any minute and had PATHETIC battery life and Pixi, ok its a gorgeous phone, but it was plagued with software glitches and sudden shut downs – both crap – both went back

I got the Pre Plus when they came out at Verizon on Jan. 25 and have had nothing but problems. I’m on my second phone now since the first one had issues with the keyboard. With this one I am having spontaneous shutdowns and I was as Verizon for well over an hour yesterday because I could not recieve my AOL email. Well, now I can recieve but cannot send AOL email!! Very annoying. Does anyone have the same issue?

    • graig smith

i havent had any issues with mine. i’m using a gmail account though.

traded my droid in for a palm pre. i really like webos. not too sure about plastic screens. but the pre does seem really well built. and its probably the smoothest looking phone. Touchstones are amazing. i ordered 2. and on accident ordered a 3rd somehow. but oh well. i’ll use that one on road trips. surprisingly touchstones seem to charge just as fast as a the usb cable. when i first got the phone i was initially worried about battery life, cause it ran out on me once. after disabling location services and aim chat it lasts all day. things i like about this phone compared with the droid? just about everything. webos is so much easier to deal with. multitasking multiple webpages is easier than on the droid. and having dealt with the droids flat practically unusable keyboard and the pre’s keyboard i have to say i like the pre keyboard better, those style of semisoft easy to feel buttons work well. i’m only hoping for some more apps.

I’ve had the VZW palm pixi for a little more than a month now and I love the phone but I hate it. Maybe it’s just my particular phone.

    CONS:
The sound decides for itself when it wants to work and restarting it doesn’t always help.

Screen is too sensitive…my ear hangs up on ppl.

Apps take too long to load

There are too many problems to list and I don’t have time for it.

    PROS:
    Good size

keyboard is nice with the raised keys.

    Multitasking is great.

    Phone call quality is awsome

Like I said I love the pixi but hate it at the same time.
