Motorola Calgary/DROID Devour pops up in Verizon system

Rumor

Motorola has some major plans with handset releases this year and it looks like it’s off to a timely start. We just showed you guys images of the Calgary/Devour a few weeks ago, and now it’s popping up in Verizon’s system. The camera flash washes out the line item in the image, but there’s no mistaking that for anything else. Anyone excited and digging the rather bland silver color of the device?Read

    Droid!!!!!

First? Verizon has really been making an effort to appeal to more people now with the release of new phones. Hopefully they’ll keep it up…

    • Channan

Nope. 2nd. But at least you had a comment to go along with your [not] “first” post.

  • grrr

Bland? The silver looks 10x better than the black.

Please don’t mix your subjective opinions with objective numbers. It’s confusing and makes the penguins sad.

I saw this the other day at a vzw event. Not horrible it looked like the sidekick slide as far ad body design. A couple of updates like more panels w/o having to add an app. But more plastic feeling than the Droid.

    • Alex

So they already have it? When do you think they’ll release it?

  • Channan

Was the glare just to show us where we were supposed to look? Or does someone just not know how to take a good picture?

  • Mrwirez

Verizon is balls out with new smart phone selection.. I really hope that icraplet stays on AT&T, further crippling their network.

Last time I checked…. The celebrite is not VZW`s inventory system….

    • Mikee

Verizon doesn’t use the Cellebrite to transfer data between phones? That’s odd. I wonder why the Verizon stores I’ve visited have used Cellebrites to transfer data between phones. Are they rogue employees with their own personal Cellebrite that Verizon hasn’t authorized them to use?

      • http://cellbrite? ted

YUP, & they didn’t even know they where going rogue.

      • Carl

Verizon isn’t the only one using these machines….

      • maggie

cellbrites have ALL CARRIERS phones on it and the calagry has been on thier since before november 2009.. it was loaded the same time as the droid.

  • http://thegadgetgurus.net Vic

Though I’m not going to deny it’s coming to Verizon, why does BGR keep stating that devices that pop up in a Cellebrite is coming to Verizon (*cough* Tour 2 *cough) because it came from a Verizon rep. To my knowledge, Cellebrite is a device used across multiple carriers.

  • entitled customer

The calgary has been in the cellbrite for about 2 months now. Old news.

  • http://www.promotionvenue.com Don

Not really looking forward to this phone it looks super cheap.

  • clamknuckle

Vic is correct. Cellebrite is used by Sprint as well, and there are plenty of phones in it that Sprint will never carry, or can I start posting screen shots of the N90 in a Sprint cellebrite and get listed on BGR?

    • James

Just looking at the rest of the phones in that image, Cricket is mentioned as well. I’m assuming this is Cricket Wireless, the Chicago based company.

  • Jeff

Still Ick. Still looks like one of those free calculators you get in the mail. DROID has no competition. Yet.

  • vzwguy

cellbrites are not part of verizon’s “system” they are their own little system of transfering information from device to device. it’s a large data base of phones. you really should get your information correct bg before writing an article. I could go buy a cellbrite for my house and have that same picture for you. This is not news.

One of the strange thing about this calgary model is why should the specs be fluctuated down by moto developers? Mm, hopefully the prices will be on the same boat too. Moto Calgary is a droid phone that’s something that is not so glamorous to see. Details: http://bit.ly/moto-calgary-devour-details

  • James

I can confirm this device will be on verizon. I’m running it on verizon right now.

It definitely isn’t cheap. I think with blur, its aimed for a bit younger audience.

  • acquaz10

I can also confirm it is coming for Verizon too. But BGR, didn’t you post this a while ago?

  • Z-liberator

This is the Droidett for women/girls etc. They currently do not have an android marketed to them as if you cant tell the droid is marketed for men thats why it looks like it came from the army.

    • acquaz10

and its marketed towards teens, it will probably have the $10 data plan.

    • Alex

Oh so the Droid Eris is a manly man phone?

James, is the phone sluggish or does it run smoothly? Also, how small is the screen? I don’t need exact measurements just a (small), (medium), or (large-medium). And if you are willing to, can you guesstimate when this phone will be revealed to the public?

Not a problem if you can’t answer these questions, just trying to figure out if I should just buy the Droid or wait it out a couple more days/weeks.

      • Alex

Shit, that response was meant for James down below

  • James

It’s not the least bit girly. It’s also metal, not plastic.

  • vzwguy

Your just a moron and have no idea wtf you are talking about. If i buy a cellbrite machine off ebay or joe the plumber, I’ll be able to use it no problem. I can even have it plugged into a cat 5 and have it update with all the new devices automatically. Get your facts strait before you go spouting off useless shit. I have bought 4 or 5 of these for the verizon dealer stores I over see.
