T-Mobile launching myTouch 3G v1.2 on February 10th

Exclusive

Not exactly the most shocking news, but apparently T-Mobile is going to launch a slightly refreshed myTouch 3G on February 10th. The changes? Well, it’s a single change, and it’s just the inclusion of a 3.5mm headset jack.

    Well….that’s exciting!

Will this be the Fender edition?

It’s apparently the Fender Edition without the Fender Edition.

(Just the inclusion of a 3.5mm headset jack.)

WOW, I’m getting the StevenGlansburg treatment from Boy Genius!

It also includes more on-board memory & a 16GB microSD card pre-installed – if memory serves me correctly…

    @Ben Pike

Really? Any idea if they improved the screen a bit to compare to the Droid Eris? Sure would be nice if it also received some HTC features too, including HTC Sync for Outlook.

tmonews is reporting and confirming a lot of phones for t-mobile releasing soon. More info here http://www.tmonews.com/2010/01/confirming-our-own-confirmed-handset-info/

The reason I never got the MT3G in the first place was because T-Mo US was one of the only two companies in the world who chose to sell it with less RAM than the other five companies who sold it. That just irritated me. It just seems too late to be fixing the problem now since most people who wanted a MT3G already have one, and most everybody else has likely moved on. I know I would never get V1.2 now that I have a Nexus One. It still won’t have enough power, and the screen just feels too small.

It was a pretty horrible oversight to ever launch it without a 3.5mm headphone jack…

The bad news is that the phone is still made by HTC!

    • Seth Wolfe

      HTC makes great phones!

Haha I can see why. Maybe you just don’t like HTC’s phones and you have your own reasons. I for one kind of like most of their phones :D granted, there are some that might not be that awesome, but for the most part, I think they are ^^

What exactly is wrong with it being made by htc?

  • Matt Thompson

    More 32B hardware?

I really don’t think something that minor warrants another SKU.

  • Mog

It includes more memory. It *doesn’t* include a 16GB memory card — that’s exclusive to the Fender Edition. But yes, more memory and a headphone jack are coming to the “regular” MyTouches.

And I’m sure I can safely assume that Tmo is going to give current MT3G users a free 1.2 version of the phone, right? Right?

  • impaler

Should’ve had it from the beginning. One reason I sold mine–didn’t want to have to carry the freakin’ dongle everywhere.

  • Latoya’s Smelly Vagina

Great!! now i don’t have to carry around that stupid USB to 3.5mm conversion cable that latoya always hides inside me and forgets to take out for days on end constantly looking for it aimlessly.

  • joe

Why would anyone buy this over a Nexus One??

  • Ron Knapp

Anyone concerned, maybe not the best term, about t mobile doing away with @home?

    Also, anyone use UMA phones?

  • Rell

Well to be honnest t-mobile and htc were acting stupid most people who brought the. G1 like a hardware keyboard to be honnest the mytouch sales are horrible well atleast their better than the nexus. You would think google and htc would have made commercials and have it on all carieers but hey. Also this will sell better if they actully get celeberities people like.

  • monkey

Awesome! The same outdated phone with a fresh new 3.5mm headphone jack! Why is Tmo doing this? Seriously? They could have added some better specs to it especially since no one knows how many more updates this thing can take.

  • Ali

what’s the point of releasing this now ? The mytouch is already very outdated considering the Nexus and other new android units that will be hitting the market soon. HTC is taking this play straight out of motorola’s playbook [ remember the 30 million itertions of the razr ] — we’ll see how well this fairs.

Doh. We forgot the 3.5mm jack!
How could we ever forget that?!
    Who’s responsible for that?

  • http://ashiiya.empty-dialogue.com ashiiya

Haha this is great news, I was thinking about getting the MT3G and then I heard about this going like “AWESOMEEE” cause when the Fender edition came out, I was being pulled in by the 3.5mm jack and sd card, but if they’re gonna release the Fender without the Fender I’d gladly take that XDD and I was worried about the MT not being in store next summer, this is great news xD
