BlackBerry Tour2 9650 makes its debut in Cellebrite, Verizon launch imminent?

Rumor

ESSEX-CELLEBRITE

Good news for Verizon Wireless BlackBerry customers that passed on the Storm 2 and the Curve 8530 in order to wait for the Tour2. The much-awaited BlackBerry 9650 was spotted by a Verizon Wireless employee while browsing through Cellebrite, a system used for transferring contacts from one phone to another. There is no confirmed time frame from when a phone appears in Cellebrtie to when it is launched but, in general, a phone’s appearance in Cellebrite is a good indication that a launch is somewhat imminent, though this isn’t a science and is not foolproof. While you wait for this beautiful BlackBerry to hit the shelves, you can drool over the pictures in our hands-on gallery.

maybe they should just make one really nice phone and then never release another. just update its os regularly and make those customers happy. No need for new models, just one phone forever and ever. That would be an awesome company.

the Essex 9650 might be released by Verizon in a month or so. It’s also known as the BB tour 2. Hopefully it will really tour the users with its amazing specs. .. http://bit.ly/blackberry-9650-essex-details

Who the hell wants Verizon anymore?

4G Android phone for Sprint coming soon.

Awesome global capable HSPA + smartphones coming etc.

I feel sorry for you rural folk or those unfortunately stuck in a crevice where only Verizon works and are forced to subsidize the maintenance costs of that huge old rural network (Alltel) by paying out the ass each month.

    1. It being in a Cellbrite machine doesn’t mean a damn thing. Does Kelly even know when at Cellbrite machine is or does?

    2. Is a launch “imminent”? Seriously. That’s like saying “2011 Chevy Corvette Shows Up In Pictures…Release Imminent?”. DUH. Of course it is. Is a 9560 confirmed? Yes. Is it CDMA? Yes. Is Verizon a CDMA carrier? Yes. Therefore, it’s elementary common sense that a launch is imminent.

    3. @ VZW_Employee…You’re a fucking retard. A Cellbrite machine isn’t “divulging company information”. You should be fired from your position at your “corporate store” just for being so stupid.

  • Name*

    Oh…and BTW…
Anyone at ANY store that uses a Cellbrite machine and has downloaded the newest update is going to show the 9650 in the list now.

Does that mean if a TMobile employee sees it that TMO is getting the 9650? Or an AT&T employee?

*Thats a rhetorical question people, don’t answer it. Just proving how much of a waste of space and useless this blog post actually is.

    • Mike

Cellebrite’s information IS property of the carrier. If you’d check YOUR Cellebrite, or if you knew so much about them, you’d see that the Application and Image updates are downloaded from the carrier’s own hosting.

And for the record, as of the latest Sprint Cellebrite update a couple of days ago, there is no 9650 listed.

So back to the drawing board with you.

      • mindless nationalist

Actually, the update is not different for specific carriers. If a Sprint store is using the UME36 Pro and a Verizon store is also, their machines will have the same updates.

      • Mike

The updates are now carrier specific with the addition of Maintenance features on the Cellebrite.

And since the Maintenance addition, which was added a few days ago, and as of today, the Sprint image does not have the Essex listed.

        UME36 Pro

All I wanna know is, where’s the BGR review of the Tour2 that they promised a month ago??? All they did was list a few first impressions.

  • blake

i saw this 2 months ago at work as well.

  • Gustav

Anyone can own a Cellebrite machine. Updates are provided by Cellebrite Technical. It hosts all carriers phones in all machines, in case there is a port over. I

t is assumed to be a Verizon phone because only Verizon uses the “xx50″ models of Blackberrys.

  • VZW_Employee

At Verizon we don’t tell customers some things because they get excited for nothing. You never want to give a customer the whole truth because they usually can’t handle it.

Last thing I want is for customers not to buy phones from me TODAY because something cooler is coming several weeks from now.

Heck, I tell people our coverage is the best and that all other carriers suck everywhere and most of them believe it. LOL They take my word for it.

    • VZ_Employee

I have 17 years in the company (former NYT, NYNEX, BA North), you sound like you have 17 minutes. “Can’t handle it” ? Is this “A Few Good Men”? LOL

You gotta relax and not take this stuff so seriously. Trust me, the company wants the info leaked because it creates a buzz that drives up sales. I don’t think the few outdated devices your selling are going to impact the stock price. LOL

    • FXtrader

VZW_Employee, if what you said is true I hope you get aids and die a slow death. you are one of the biggest scumbag’s on this thread, May you get laid off and have to suck dicks on the street.

  • Gustav

But it isn’t Verizon secure information.

4G Android phone for Sprint coming soon.

Hm….First, I would put Vzw’s device lineup against ANY carriers and I can say we have the best. Period. This year there will be much much more to come that’s going to change the game. Secondly, I don’t normally battle with Kiosk dwelling, soon to be laid of Sprint fan boys, but here it goes…..

At least VZW own’s it’s own network and didn’t sell off all it’s towers to a 3rd party company to stay afloat right? How does it feel to be the “Whore” of the cell phone world where people only use you because you are “cheap” and has nothing to do with the quality of your service or superior customer service? What’s that? You lost another 1 million net subscribers this quarter? (and don’t give me the fluff pre paid numbers, everyone knows you really only count post pay) BTW, I will take quality every day over price.

Oh yeah, and LTE (which is finishing testing in SEVERAL US cities) will have more markets on VZW by the end of the year than WiMax for Sprint not to mention 7-12 MB/sec and double the bandwith vs. Wimax’s laughable 3-5 MB/sec and lack of world capabilities.

    • Homer

Lol, Verizon fans are so funny… Just wait until mommy and daddy kick you off their plan, then you’ll care about spending twice the amount that you should for practically the same service.

      • FXtrader

homer where you work….Cricket hahahahah you inbred redneck. go F&^% yourself. Little life no friends, no famil that loves you. you my friend are loser in the game of Life. hahahahahhaah

      • ridiculous

hahaha completely agree FX by the sounds of u never had verizon so u dno what the service is like for u to say “practically the same”

    • TextDiva10

I am currently a VZW customer and very disappointed in the service that Ive received ( or lack there of) from Verizon. I live in Houston, Tx and for the 2 months or so we have been having outages (mainly affecting Blackberry users). Right now there is a open trouble ticket for several southern states that are having problems with data services. The tech said its affecting about 10% of Blackberry users??? It would be my luck that I happen to fall into that 10%. Boooo! The techs had me go thru the same troubleshooting steps that I had already done on my own and Im still having problems. Its not the phone…it can’t be. I am on my 3rd 8330. I pay so much money to Verizon and I am forever having problems, Why pay all this money for service and can’t use it half the time. According to the coverage map on VZW.com I am within their 1xEVDO coverage. Smh…don’t do me like this Verizon. Yall ain’t right!

      • VZW_AM

What an interesting thread.. VZW_EMPLOYEE, I would recommend you reread your M&P’s, you represent a company, your representation is disgusting.. and you have clearly communicated who you represent with your your username. Be careful hotshot, people that are far above you can read as well.

  • Loril

Well, I got an email from Verizon this morning about the Essex/Tour 2, and here’s what this guy said:” I know that you are specifically interested in the Blackberry Tour 2, however, there are no current plans to carry this phone on our network. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause”. Why is it that they can’t be honest and tell you it’s coming but they don’t have a release date yet?

    It is so frustrating!

  • JJNYS

Wow, this is sad. I come to read this thread for info on the Tour 2 and I walk into a flame war, and this is not unique to this particular thread.

If you like Verizon, who cares? If you like Sprint, who cares? If you have Verizon and don’t like it, don’t bitch about it, switch carriers, and the same goes for any other carrier.

What a great community we have here, glad I stopped by, I will think twice about coming back.

  • 2birds

The Essex has been in the cellebrite for months… That being said Blackberry reps have been telling us for months that the Tour 2 is coming “real soon”. So, we’ll find out what that really means when it gets here.

  • la verdad

I posted the same point, and you felt the need to crap on it. I’m not voting you down, and I won’t return the favor you extended me.

You often have insightful, salient points. Why do you need to insult people, when you could (and sometimes, do) produce legitimate thought-inducing input? C’mon dude, try a little kindness.

  • Super miguel

And yet you never admit your carrier of choice, or that you work for a retail outlet? Hypocrite!

  • Super miguel

Oh ok. Just because you said so i should just believe that.

  • David Adler

Miguel, when are you going to realise no one likes you. You probably wont declare your carrier because you probably have boost mobile, or some shitty regional carrier.

  • Name*

Explain to me how a Cellbrite machine can be described as “divulging company information”?
The machine is property of whoever owns the machine, yes.
However, anyone can own a Cellbrite machine.
There are no NDA’s that someone has to sign in order to have a Cellbrite. No non-compete. You don’t have to be a corporate wireless entity to own one.
It’s not like a Cellbrite machine is an internal ordering system for Verizon or any carrier.
I am wondering if YOU are even aware what a Cellbrite machine is.

  • bogart

Fuc.k you troller… go away.. STFU

  • bogart

when will you shut your mouth? kick this A$$hole immediately

  • la verdad

Agreed. I too, find the brainwashed and financially motivated promotion/lip service here to be irritating. What is unfortunate is that all the ball-busting in the world won’t change minds or deter the poor behavior displayed here and on other sites.

While I am by no means innocent of occasionally retaliating to the absurd remarks of others, I’ve come to realize this: these idiots feed off of the attention they get by their inflamatory remarks. Barring any action by the site itself to inhibit such juvenile behavior (which obviously isn’t happening any time soon), replying to said behavior only encourages more of the same.

Painful as it is, we need to ignore the garbage these little miscreants propogate. The only juice they have is what we give them.

  • David Adler

    @Miguel

    1. im not a child
    2. get a life and stop responding to everything people write.
    3. Pick a carrier and STFU.
