Apple's tablet is an "iPhone on steroids"

Breaking

One of our close Apple connects who hasn’t steered us wrong dropped a little bit of information on us. Here’s what we know:

  • The tablet’s multi-touch gestures are “out of control.”
  • It’s powered by an incredibly fast ARM CPU
  • It runs on the iPhone kernel.
  • The internal model number is K48AP.
  • There hasn’t been an updated iPhone OS build because there’s too much tablet-related code/references in the OS and Apple obviously didn’t want that to leak. Oops.
  • The tablet is basically an “iPhone on steroids.”

That’s all we’ve got for now!

So here we are again on the verge of unlocking the secret of the apple tablet. Some people just can’t wait don’t they? Roughly 2 weeks from now and Apple
will finally release their ‘credo’ to the world and some curious cat just can’t wait to have a bite.

All the while the official score is, this will be revealead on the 27th of January, Will be up for 1 grand, Will harness two new patented technology. Isn’t this news great or what?

    - Now, there are a lot of rumors going around for this one. However, we know that majority of them are all fake. Like what i’ve said the Apple tree will always
    have that golden key!

      $1500.

      But I hope it’s not.

Do we have a Tablet confirmation? No. Does anyone know the specs? No. Every rumor is just a rumor. It reminds me of weeks before the iPhone laund and everyone pretty much had that wrong, Kevin Rose. I know what we can expect if there is even a Tablet announcement….. the unexpected. Apple has been working on this thing on and off again since they axed the Newton in the late 90′s. If there is a Tablet they have taken their time with it and maybe five people have a finished product as we speak.

I hope it’s a rumor. I want a full computer that is shrunk down to work on a tablet size, not a phone that is blown up to the size of a tablet.

I won’t buy any product that bills itself as “on steroids”. I don’t want to enable steroid use.

    • Pete Austin

@johnbaxter. Steroids have legitimate medical uses. Possibly the tablet will appeal to those of us who are allergic to the iPhone.

    • Xavier Thompson

guess you didn’t know steroids are used all the time in medicines everyday. apparently you assume the only reason for it is for cheating in sports???? well if that’s the case, there are many other drugs that people abuse or use that were also developed for medical treatments and benefits other than cheating.

    iMcGwire?

    • lol

      That’s awesome

  • Tyler M

Oh dead GOD please don’t let it run the iPhone kernel. For a tablet, this would HUGELY limit functionality.

I want a full blown Leopard or variant.

  • Charlie

This may be the most exciting tablet to hit Planet Earth since Moses descended from Mount Sinai.

the part number doesn’t seem right. Apple is known for its logistics strategies, part of it being by having all products follows the same pattern of numbers. This keeps losses due to theft down. E.G; MB289LL/A, MC207LL/A, MB990LL/A, MB770LL/A.
Even third party products follow this code; TR841LL/A, TW305LL/A.
    You see the pattern.

  • Jerry Fartwell

the term on ‘steroids’ is not a reference to someone taking Prednisone for a medical reason, it is referring to anabolic steroid use for competitive reasons. I’m sure you knew that, you probably just tried to correct johnbaxter for your own self-serving reasons.

So, maybe they should have said, “Like an iphone on antibiotics?”

    “…an iphone on birth control?”

I like “an iphone on crack.”

But I’m really wishing for an Apple tablet “like an iMac on Slimfast.”

    “One More Thing…”

‘The Steve Jobs Reality Distortion Field’.

I think it’s safe to say that if all the Ruomours are true, the Special Event will roll out something similar to what’s happened in the past:
Steve will recap and review iPhone market share, developments etc… and then introduce a blazingly fast updated 3GSS iPhone with the new ARM chip and OS update…

and then do his characteristic: “But there’s just one more thing…”, to the ooohs and rrrr’s of the media present.

Steve has a great sense for the Theatrics of marketing Apple products and I would say that the new iSlate / Tablet or whatever it ends up being called will be the “One more thing”.

    Go Apple!!!!!

It would be amazing if it had some ability to sync and communicate with your iPhone or iPod Touch like a mother-ship. If you were busy doing some strenuous tasks on your portable, you can just get next to your apple tablet, press a button and continue where you left off seamlessly.

  • Too funny

So you get an oversized and overpriced iPhone to compliment your regular iPhone. Cool.

  • Joshthecurryboy

I personally don’t think this slate or the I tablet is going to be pocket friendly!!! And if apple can pack all the features of the tablet into an iPhone size next generation device I would be the first person in line to buy the device

I plan to buy MacPro 13″ but with the latest news I put it on hold. From latest info what I know the screen will be 7″-10″ of coz cannot be in your pocket!

At least one senior Apple executive is on record saying that MS’s tablet project was the original impetus for the iPhone. So it’s plausible that they set out to do a better tablet and the iPhone spun out on the way to that.

APPLE had a pen based tablet WAAAY before there was any iPhone, or an iPhone or MS tablet projects for that matter.

MANY THINGS APPLE have been demonstrated at the ATG nights of OLD, WWDC !!!

    AND don’t forget Newton …
