Blackberry Curve 8910 is the Atlas, gets photographed on its way to Asia?

Rumor

BlackBerryCurve8910

The BlackBerry 8910 officially broke upon the scene yesterday when it was uncovered amongst the handsets that had recently received Bluetooth SIG certification. Details on the phone were sparse but a few hours later a spy shot of this unknown handset was leaked to the intertubes. The BlackBerry 8910 bears a striking resemblance to the previously leaked BlackBerry Atlas, a variant of the BlackBerry 8900 with EDGE-only connectivity, 8900-style keypad, 256MB of RAM, 624MHz processor, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, 3.2 megapixel camera and an optical trackpad. The Atlas/8910 is expected to launch in Asian and European markets at yet-to-be-determined date.

    EDGE only? That’s lame

    • Really

      An evolved version I’ve heard.

  • tschroe

it’s going to Asia, so who cares…

  • Laz

When are you guys rolling out the Tour2 news for both Sprint and Verizon in stock now?

  • cnote221

I like the buttons on that i like how there encaved (if thats a word lol) The keyboard looks different from the 9700 in this pic. Thats a sexy model compared to the new 85XX’s. I like it solid design to me.

  • Gwar

That’s clearly a 9700, why in the world are people going to believe that it’s a 8900 series? Not BGR’s fault, but CrackBerry’s as they have shitty ninjas who can’t tell the fucking difference.

    • Jay

look at the keyboard, it does not have a bold series keyboard

      • Gwar

Youre fucking blind. Look closer. As shitty as the picture is, you can see the embevled keys like the Bold series. Only thing missing is the silver lining. Rehashed garbage. Way to go RIM.

    • Drew

You obviously need another “BlackBerry” class. That is not a 9700. I’m looking at the picture and it looks just like my 8900. I’m also looking down at my 9700 right now and comparing the fonts and there is no comparison. The fonts used on the keyboard are clearly different…. Why in the world are people going to believe a fucktard like you?? You have no credibility and obviously do not own either of these devices. You sound like a shitty “wannabe” ninja.

      • Jae Soon

is the face oil included just like in the picture?

        That’s one oily bb

  • Champs

At least it’s a BlackBerry just like every QWERTY BlackBerry before it, not some boring, inconsistent Android handset.

    • Larry Love

LOL!! My sentiments exactly……they just keep making marginal updates to the same devices save the 8500 series which is underpowered as it is. RIM is really not taking advantage of a great opportunity. I for one will not be upgrading my Tour to another BB unless there are some monumental changes. Y’all can have this.

      • Gwar

        haha, fuck RIM.

  • BDW

RIM is a dying bread. The trackpad was needed long ago. There just now offering handsets with both 3g and wifi. They are still offering non 3g handsets. The Bold 2 and Tour 2 are the only Blackberrys worth anything and thats only for people that like non touch high end smartphones with a great keyboard. Other than that they really have nothing. Don’t even try to argue that the Storm should be included because the Strom is a piece compared to the DROID, iPhone, Nexus One. Even the lower end Androids like the Hero, Droid Eris, Cliq and Moment are better than that thing.

    • Drew

I am a blackberry faithful but you are correct. I love my 9700 but I want the N900. Everyone is moving in that direction (slide/Qwerty/Touchscreens) and if RIM wants to continue with their share of the consumer market, changes need to be made. Android is here and isn’t going anywhere. I don’t know what RIM is doing by making all of the devices with the same specs. It’s a little annoying to have the flagship device 2 months later, introduce a non-3G handset that has the same processor and screen resolution. I’m as clueless as the next guy as far as that is concerned. This summer is the litmus test for Blackberry. That webkit browser better have some “WOW’ factor or I’ve just bought my last RIM device. I’m still pissed that the 9700 isn’t 7.2 HSPA compatible….

Why do all Blackberrys look the same and have the same specs yet people still get excited like they’re getting something new and innovative?

    • yandar

For the same reasons that people buy a new iphone model every year.

  • Cool Beans

RIM really needs to make a giant push into the touch screen market with a respectable device that doesn’t have that horrid clickable screen. That screamed failure. If RIM could pull that off, I would be the first to dump Android. Their lack of touch enabled hardware is the only reason I no longer use my bb.

Katy Perry, and the Kardashian’s need to upgrade their T-Mobile 8900′s so is this coming stateside? With T-Mobile 3G?

  • http://www.mobilitysite.com Mr. Hi-Definition

Putting the same processor of the Bold 9700 was a nice touch. Wonder what the next gen BlackBerry is going to be like with such a capable processor now in the Curve.

  • http://www.louisvillecolorado-realestate.com Andrea

Blackberry is awesome. I am excited to see what blackberry does with future phones as well.

  • Blackberry Bold

No 3G? What year are we in right now, 1978?

    • iknowBB

Better battery life and reception on both AT&T and Tmobile network. Plus it would be a surprise if they would make a 89** series 3g as well when they have the bold 9700 out, And for people asking NO it does not have the BOLD executive keyboard, it has the same curve key pad just closer together and slightly larger.

  • Diabl0

There isn’t much information on the phone just yet, but it will probably be running BlackBerry OS 5.0. The 8910 has also shown up at the Bluetooth SIG certification, so that’s some sort of confirmation on the device.

It’ll be cool if this one will be release on Asia as well. More details: http://bit.ly/blackberry-8910-more-details
