T-Mobile acknowledges Nexus One 3G issue

We’ve been hearing grumblings on the intertubes about the newly minted Nexus One having 3G connectivity problems with T-Mobile’s network. Users have been reporting that the Nexus is constantly bouncing between 3G and EDGE, even in a 3G saturated area, or, in some of the more severe cases, not connecting to the 3G network even when it is available. A moderator on T-Mobile’s forums states, “Google and T-Mobile are investigating this issue and hope to have more information for you soon. We understand your concern and appreciate your patience.” Let’s hope this is a minor coding snafu and can be resolved quickly by a software patch. Any early adopters of the “Sexy Nexy” seeing 3G issues?

No issues here in Chicago! Much quicker than my mytouch and has never been off 3g since the 6th! Speeds run around 800 kbs give or take a few. I’m loving it so far

There has been a lot of hype and tension erupted after the unveiling of the nexus one. Today, we are seeing some of the errors and glitches that a future user may want to look before buying the N1 phone. As they said, 530 USD has never became cheap. ..Details: http://bit.ly/nexus-one-disadvantages-compiled-details

well this can be threatening for the Nexus One users and for the Google lovers, as they were expecting much more from google to deliver via Nexus One…. I hope issue would be resolved on priority basis.

I hope this doesn’t happen to the Verizon version because I am debating between this and the Pre Plus. I know the specs are better on the Nexus One but I am growing tired of Android because of the poor memory management. webOs is a lot better with memory management and it is a sleeker OS IMO.

Yes, I have one, and I hardly see 3G on it, and I am in a 3G saturated area: http://www.t-mobile.com/coverage/pcc.aspx?WT.z_unav=mst_global_cvg

Have the nexus…since Monday….gchat loses the connection regularly and that never happened on my motor cliq. Also foursquare shows “no network connection” regularlyand have to hit “check in” several times before it finally goes through. Also never happened on the cliq. I’m primarily in downtown Chicago’s loop.

This did not work for me as stated …..

My original problem was the same : 3G to Edge to 3G as many have stated.

HOWEVER, comparing the nexus one settings to my HTC MyTouch settings, I found one small difference, and making the following change seems to have made a difference for me:

    Menu –> Settings –> Wireless & Networks –>
Mobile Networks –> Access Point Names –> TMobile US –>
Authentication type –> Then select “None” (was not set explicitly by default)

I will keep a close eye on this (has been good for the last day or so every chance I got to check) and will keep everyone here posted on new findings

    Hope this is helpful!

Not just the Nexus. I live on the Peninsula in the Bay Area and as soon as I get within a mile or so of my street, the problems the writer complains of (which happen in some places and not others with no rhyme or reason sometimes jumping from none to edge to 3g in a min or so or having no signal at all for 5 min or more), those problens become constant and were it not for wifi the phone is unusable. I know because I had wifi down for two days. Could literally accomplish nothing on the phone. Call tmobile, they want to change the phone. Its not the phone. They are stalling. Any ideas why they suck, or have 2 networks and an att network when I do a network search?
