Sprint's Palm Pixi to come in pink, world yawns

Rumor

Palm Pixi Sprint Pink

You know what makes us loath the Palm Pixi, other than the fact that it is under-powered, came to market 9 months after it should have, and still has the Palm keyboard? Seeing that same winning package in pink. Engadget has been tipped off that the Palm Pixi, in pink, is now visible in Sprint’s inventory system. Rumor has it Sprint Store’s are adding extra head count in anticipation of a rush on stores… oh, wait, we just made that up. All kidding aside we’re hoping Palm will come through with a killer webOS handset at CES; we really want to like the hardware that powers webOS.

Finally, the device that satisfies everyone.

Palm Pre handset sucks……stop trying to copy the iPhone.
The Pre needs atleast three buttons (call, end, menu) on the face. I need a phone ..smart or otherwise to be a phone first. And did I forget the keyboard buttons are terrible too…

This is a story about the Pixi being released in pink. You seem to have gotten lost in your hatred.

Pre has the guts and software to be a kick ass device. Give it a 3.7″ screen with a better build quality and keyboard and watch it sell. You can’t knock the potential it has.

If Verizon was releasing a Pink Pixi the world would be ecstatic judging by how this site operates

    • PhoneFreak

LOL…I agree. They need to change the site name to BBGR (Biased Boy Genius Report)

    @StevenGlansburg

I was most definitely about to post the exact thing.

i’m sick of hearing about the potetial for webos. I’ve had this phone since august now and haven’t seen anything spectacular. I can confidently say that I will never buy another palm phone again. Didn’t palm say we’d have video recording by the end of 2009? They came out trying to be the anti-iphone but it’s the same bullshit.

I really hate how BGR turned against Palm.

    It’s a shame.

      Somewhat a “+1″ here.

It is quite apparent, both from the hardware design and now the color options, that the Pixi is the heir apparent to the Centro. All the Pixi needs is a significant price drop (to about the level that Wal-Mart was selling it for) to be a good contender.

Is it powerful? No. It is sufficient for a newbie or non-power smartphone user? Sure! The Centro proved that there was a (good!) market for a non-poweruser smartphone that was small, fun and convenient to use. What, the Pixi can’t grab that?

    BGR spouts same anti-Palm rhetoric….I yawn…

but damn you, I did click on it!!! urggggg :-)

I picked up a Palm Pre at the Sprint store just to check it out and almost sliced open my cheek. What a POS.

Compare the iphone, Droid, and Pixi/Pre and tell me Palm matches the quality of the other two. Web-os might be cool but the phone itself is junk.

How about covering engadget’s hands-on nexus one article, with about 87 photos and a video?

I’m sure your readers would be happier to read that than this, or are you just embarrassed engadget beat you to the punch?

  • joe cool

why would you report on it if your saying no one cares? what about some good ninja info on a device that everyone craves like the trackpad tour perhaps?

  • mlawre10

Wow a lot of anger against Palm….I’ve also owned my Pre since day one and absolutely luv it. A lot of people complaining about the build quality but it not the entire phone it’s the cheap plastics back… I replaced the back of my phone with the touch stone back and it feels completely different…

  • Barron

What’s the point–doesn’t the handset already have swappable covers? I’d like to see a pink palm pre.. w00t

  • Chad

Ever typed on a Pixi? that is just about the best physical keyboard I’ve ever typed on. I don’t know what you have against it… It beats the BB Curve’s.

Having no sliding mechanism to get in the way (Pre) made all the difference in the world.

  • Obamas Wifes Big Butt

Agree with Jack Tee, the pink Pixi will change the entire mobile device landscape.

  • Will.I.Am82

I’m sorry… I guess I’m the only one in the whole world who thinks the better argument should be about what Palm was thinking by naming this device “Pixi”? Worst cell phone name ever devised in the history of cellular technology.

  • Bigsmooth66

Yeah, the bashing of WebOS has to stop at some point. When a iPhone or Droid device can enable me to watch TV, play Doom, view Youtube with the best quality of any phone, take decent pictures, sync seemlessly with almost the media player of my choice, quickly browse the net and everything else at a great monthly rate then buzz me.

  • Joelsph

Actually the world yawns at another “fine” piece of biased reporting by *andrew*

  • Obamas Wifes Big Butt

If elected, every man, woman and child will have a Pink Palm Pixi they can prank call their friends with.

  • Jake

with a name like Pixi it should have been pink from the onset

  • Peter

Well screw you Engadget, the Pixi doesn’t much like you either. And screw you, too Andrew. And pull that bug out of your stupid ass.

    • Peter

Oops, I meant screw you BGR!
