Leaked HD2 ROM confirms a future with T-Mobile

Since the very first day it was announced for Europe and Asia, we have known that the HTC HD2 would make its way to the US by the first quarter of 2010. A specific carrier was not named, although the rumor mill was quick to point to T-Mobile, something which was shortly thereafter given credence after the leaking of an alleged internal slide which featured the device. Today a new video featuring a leaked copy of ROM 2.01 proves once and for all that the device is undergoing testing by T-Mobile USA as the boot screen clearly shows the logo of T-Mobile’s “Stick Together” slogan. As for what’s new in 2.01, Windows Mobile junkies will likely love the live preview of files in the Documents tab as well as some much needed spit polish to the music library. Hit the jump for a quick video rundown.

About time T-Mobile got more powerful smartphones.. For the one who said whenever we get 7.2 HSPA upgrade, we will have it before AT&T definitely.. :)

    • jaymax

TMO’s entire 3G footprint is supposed to be upgraded to 7.2 HSPA in the next 30 days. Many areas already are.

      • jaymax

You didn’t ask that question, moron. Try and keep track of your own posts.

Miguel – funny you should ask about life being fulfilled. How is your life fulfilled by your “contribution” to this forum?

  • http://(null) Eric

The video is showing it’s not available for some reason.

    Posted from BGR Mobile (iPhone).

  • Wokax2

I get it with Miguel, he’s a boost mobile costumer who wishes he was a t- mobile costumer.(just kiddin miggy) don’t get too upset there and go on one of your nerdy rants.

    Great…what about Verizon ? I am so disappointed…

  • Oxyrt

Okay, this is getting irritating. T-mobile keeps getting all these great exclusive phones, but the only problem is… no one gives a shit. Now, if these phones wound up on Verizon or Att (hell, even SPRINT) then people would give a shit. It’s aggravating! T-mobile, hardly anybody is on your network, and your network sucks. So, stop making it impossible for other people on other carriers to use great phones. Kthanksbye.

Interesting opinion Oxyrt, however after being with the other companies, I couldn’t be happier with T-Mo. Excellent service, great coverage, the best pricing plans. Only thing I didn’t like it seemed all the cool new phones were going to Verizon and AT&T, it’s about time T-Mo is going to get some really top-line phones. I tried to shop phones at a Verizon store a few weeks ago and walked out … the salesperson wasn’t listening to a word I said and was trying to push some piece of crap on me , probably because there was a spiff on it. I’ve never run in to a bad T-Mo salesperson.

  • Dakota

Doubtful. Anyone could slap T-Mo’s Stick Together image onto a bitmap, slap on “Test Only not for sale” in a gaudy font, and then flash it as a splashscreen to their phone. Even an AT&T test ROM I’ve used on my HTC FUZE looked more professional than that splash.

This means nothing until we see more than a splash – such as, oh, I don’t know, branded TF3D, branded interface, and so on.

Umm, Dakota, did you miss the part in the video where he looked at the Programs list and executed the T-Mobile phone backup program? It even listed http://my.t-mobile.com (which, by the way, is for T-Mobile USA, not UK or Europe). Go look at it again.

Also, “Stick Together” is a slogan only used in the USA.

Don’t know about you, but that makes it pretty obvious for everyone else.

      • Ryan

Actually, to help you out even more, go to around the 5:30 mark of the video. Cheers.

I’d just like to say it if nobody has but this phone really makes you stop to think about how far technology has come. When I first heard about a 1ghz processor for this phone I stopped and thought… My first PC I got was about 10 years ago and it was a P II 500MHz with 256MB … and now a cellphone about the size of a hard drive houses what fit into an ATX Tower 10 years ago… Hell my BB9700 has the same juice my first PC had… Wow

Why all t- mobile hate?.I mean damn t-mobile hasn’t had a great phone since g1(and no the mytouch and b.b bold are not great just good enough). It’s like everybodys’ waiting for the prom queens name to be called , then the ugly bitch gets the trophy- then everyone gets pissed. Damn , can everyone just give some congrats and stop the bitchfightin!. Sprint had the pre, AT&T the iPhone and verizon the B. B storm and droid. T- mobile finally gets a good phone line-up and everyone gets pissed?!. Just be happy the U.S is finally getting the IT phones. And quit complaining about t- mobile getting ALL the great phones, it’s just as easy for All of us to switch over and grab these same headsets. Just saying… Give them some credit for trying to please their costumers .

I’m not surprised that the HD2 is coming to T-Mobile, I just feel that it will also be on Sprint shortly after.

Ryan, it’s called…..denial my friend- do yourself a favor , and don’t respond the B.S. This is clearly t- mobiles’ baby. Love it or hate it. T- mobile may soon be on top of the smartphone world. Nexus one, x-10,htc hd2, maybe iPhone 4g?..things sure look scary on this side of the ball though. Just saying..remember we ALL ( if we wanted too) get these beast!.

  • chingy

screw all carriers! they all suck in one way or another. i want to be able to download ish to my brain like in Johnny Neumonic- someone get me some nano implants!!

  • ebatr8

T-Mo is in da house i couldnt believe it when a coworker mentioned that someone in our building is testing the device and yes it is branded but now that i see this i cant wait for this beast too bad the nobody will tell who has the device so i could mess wit it =( so this makes 4 phones now that are totally smashing on everything out there N900, Nexus 1, X10, and HD2 sadly i think only the Nexus has the potential to sell really well i doubt the other 3 will be marketed properly so i wonder will apple try and out due the competition or will they just continue making smartphones for dumb people. you iPhone users dont take it up the ass i have one too but i mean for the people that dont jailbreak its just a smartphone dumbed down for the masses that cant handle a blackberry, winmo device or symbian

  • Wojax2

First of all, when I say stop the hatin I’m just not just talkin bout you-bitch . And second don’t talk that weak shit to me , cuz I’m a grown ass man-understand? Quit your me against the world attitude cuz you soundin like a whiney girl-throwing a bitch-fit. You talk about everyone cheering their respective phone companies ,what about you? Cheer if you want, but quit talkin tuff-stay behind your keyboard, and be easy.

    • Dat Guy

      Damn!!

  • saidin69

Well, if there is high demand maybe Verizon will order another CDMA/GSM worldphone version of the HD2 like they did for the TP2.. Personally I don’t care at the moment. I am running the HD2 software on my TP2 right now anyway and it works fantastic. And I get a keyboard… Would be great to have that processor though!!!!

  • VERZION.

Dont worry verizon is still getting the Htc Bravo.

    • Galen20K

I wonder, how does the Nexus One and Bravo specs compare. Anybody know?

  • diabl0

HTC HD2 is a dream come true for HTC fanatics but isn’t that too ‘boastful’ for a tech-savvy individual.. But why?

What I want to know is whether this puppy will be UMA-enabled–if so, I might very well skip the Bold 9700 for this!
