General

curve-broken

Down for us…

UPDATE: Appears to be a pretty big general outage as BES and BIS services are down for some users completely. We’re some of them.

      @ FanBOOOOOy

Yeah but if I had a an iphone I couldn’t BBM.

      • Shawn

Well you could all change to “ping” which is iPhone’s version of BBM. Plus, if apple goes down, your phone still work!

Dont get me wrong, I have both devices. But when my BB Bold goes down when these things happen, it reminds me how much control RIM has over my communication. NOT COOL.

yeah apple has no control over your iphone…oh…wait, i forgot, it’s a closed, anti-competitive ecosystem.

Is there a way to check on Rim’s website to see when the services are down or an email or text subscription, etc? I have a business account with 56 lines on Verizon and I just have to wait for a user to call and ask if it is down then I have to call Verizon. It would be nice to have a notification system or a website to see the status…

This came at the worse time for me. I was in my car driving to a location to which I did not know the route because I was relying on my blackberry GPS with google maps. Then all of a sudden google maps aint loading anymore and I need to make a decision on which route to take. Ended up taking the wrong one and drive completly lost until the service came back.

Im helpless without my gps and google maps haha
I tried going to a gas station and ask for a google map but he said he didnt sell those… j/k

pardon my ignorance…don’t have the BB 9700 yet, but getting it for xmas. Is “google maps/gps” free or does it require a monthly fee, like At&t’s navigation plan. Thanks.

        it’s free my friend….I need a miracle ;-)

Damn you RIM!!! Have a damn reliable backup already to shift traffic! Ever heard of a disaster recovery site! You make enough damnnnnnnn money!

BB needs to really think about implementing some kind of failover strategy.

Businesses rely on their blackberries for a reason and this is just embarassing for RIM.

Verizon in Colorado Springs was down yesterday. Couldn’t access the internet from my Storm nor the messenger service. Pretty much all I coul do was make calls and text. It was like I had a nermal phone again. haha.

    @gratfulred
    Its free.

My BB was just a phone until this morning…I’m glad its working now.

BBM is up and running again. Cause of the outage was a flaw in the BBM 5.0 updates. There is a new update for 5.0.0.57

This fixes the picture issue. You can preview the pic at full size now without having to save it. Thank god!

amazing, now i know where google got the idea to have all internet traffic go through them.

i can understand no email when BIS goes down, but no internet as well? what is the point of routing all internet traffic through BIS if you’re not a corporate customer?

you cloud people make me laugh sometimes. did the Bold work on wifi or did play paperweight as well?

    • Brandon

Yes any wifi enabled device works as long as you have your BES server configured correctly. If you use the BIS service you couldn’t get email but you could still browse the internet, and send BBM.

    My Droid works hahahah
