Verizon Wireless employees begin initial training in Palm and WebOS

Rumor

verizon-palm-webos-training

A leaked screenshot reveals that Verizon Wireless is beginning to train its employees on the nitty gritty details of Palm and its WebOS. Starting December 15th and concluding on January 4th, 2010, the 20 minute online course addresses the burning questions “Why Palm?” and “What is webOS?”. The timing of the course is rather apropos as a Wi-Fi variant of the Pixi just passed through the FCC, Sprint’s reported exclusivity with the Pre is about to expire and Verizon has been rumored over and over and over again to be getting the Palm Pre in early 2010. Any Verizon Wireless employees with juicy webOS handset know where to head

    Why Palm… exactly…

    • Mrwirez

Why not? It is not forced on anyone. The more options Verizon Wireless has, the better. Personally, I like choice on the best network.

  • George

Too little too late for Palm. They are now lost in the noise with Android gaining the share and interest from handset makers, app developers, etc. A Verizon launch won’t save Palm from doom. A year from now they’ll be yesterday’s story.

I wholeheartedly agree. I’m up for an upgrade on Verizon in Mid-January, and if you had asked me 6 months ago, I would of been excited for the Pre. Now, I want the Passion or Droid.

      • Az

I am not sure that will be the case, I think the Pre/Pixi will do well for Palm on VZW…personally I like the form factor much better than the DROID…..and honestly the UI is cleaner…

  • frankfrancese

    YESS!!!! FINALLY! PALM PRE

  • krazyvzw

on the vzw one it does not have the trackball on it. its a touchpad that is flush with the housing of the phone.

    • carig

if you’re talking about the Pre it’s not a trackball, so i’m not inclined to believe you know what you’re talking about

Great Job again Verizon. Who needs the Nexus one/Passion when you can have a 6 month old Palm Pre and its 28 available apps.

    • Butthead

Seriously, there are plenty of people who are devoted palm followers. So this is a solution for them.

What boggles my mind is that you fall so easily into rumors and innuendo to proclaim that the passion even EXISTS as a phone. There have been screenshots of phones and various speculative blog posts about the Nexus one, yet you somehow speak as if these devices are right here and that people would be stupid to get a palm device. Sprint signed an exclusivity agreement with Palm. Late? Well, duh.

And where did this sudden fascination with apps come from? Apps have been around for years. Oh yeah, Steve Jobs. Steve Jobs has successfully once again created the illusion that you need loads of applications or you are not worthy. The whole focus on 3G? Steve Jobs. I mean seriously, how many fart apps do you really need?

And when the iphone does drop on verizon, can’t wait to hear about all the posts regarding how long it took them to get it.

BGR tries to post authoritative and accurate information. Sometimes, its based on rumor and speculation. Many blogs and even newspapers are taking educated guesses on many things in tech. If you spend this much time getting your knickers in a knot about a stupid phone, then seriously, you need to get out more often. Also, that web page rendering 4 nanoseconds faster with a snapdragon processor is **really** going to make you a tech stud!

By all means, carry on. I need more fodder for when my George Carlin MP3s run out.

    @ RT
Stop trolling the App catalog currently stands @ 815 apps. Comparing to the other platforms, that not a great number, but for a phone that’s been out for 6 months; that’s a bit reasonable. The more carriers = more developers= more apps. So stop your @$$ kissing for whatever platform you prefer, we all have our choices; but @ least speak the truth and provide some good facts, stop spreading stupid little misguided lies.

  • Mojo Yugen

Palm needs this. They are dying a fast death on Sprint. I still think they will die but at least they will cling to life a bit longer.

  • StevenGlansburg

Android is not that great. Just because a verizon commercial says you need it doesn’t meant its the greatest thing ever. WebOS is probably the best OS available as it is fluid as the iphones but far more functional. Some of you ass clowns should try it first before you spout off about the lubed up droid dildo that resides up your anal canal.

    • Az

DROID’s popularity comes partly from the anti-apple fanboys and also the desire by VZW customers for something other than WinMo or BB as a smartphone option….after using one, I just don’t see excitement…..the Pre will be a nice alternative…

      • Bogey

Pre is sweet. Universal Search and the Multi Tasking is 2nd to none. People need to try one before they smack talk it.

  • mattywalnuts

    about 36 hours late BRG.

    • mattywalnuts

      BGR.

Palm needs to train Verizon Wireless employees how to turn on WiFi on a phone..since Verizon is notorious for not having WiFi in their phones and Verizon employees are like thinking, “WiFi…whats that?”

  • VZW

Why does every one keep saying the htc passion will be out this year or they want more info? The CEO said only 2 android phones would be out this year and then many more in 2010. It was in the web cast. And web OS is new. It hasn’t been out for a year. It will grow once Verizon has it. How? Verizon will market the hell out of it, that’s how.

    • papy72

I personally think the next round of android phones on VZW will be sometime next month.

      • Riles

I’m hoping maybe this indicates that we are going to see this and the Passion released the second week of January.

    • StevenGlansburg

VZW, I agree with you on something for the first time.

  • joe cool

where is the track pad tour info? its funny how no one cares anymore :( hahah

  • VZW

The new tour will be out towards the end of Jan or first of Feb. The tour will drop in price soon at the end of the month.

    • Larry Love

      Alledgedly…….not dropping before summer 2010.

  • weezzy

    verzion still suck balls

    • Weezzy’s Fatass Moms Boyfriend

So does your mom and she’s really good…. Let her know, thanks.

  • Jeff

They blew it. Palm. They abandoned their Palm customers with WebOS which has nothing to do with Palm except the name. That forces us to a new platform, opening up the whole universe of options. And they went with Sprint. Ouch. Dumb and dumber, the sinking ship. And who knew what would happen with Droid? Many of us waited for VZW to get the Pre, only now to see a far better option since we have to learn a new thing anyway. Why not pick the one with a dozen manufacturers and nearly 20,000 apps? Too late, Palm. Adios. Bad calls.

  • carig

While they’re giving the Pixi wi-fi they should give the Pre a bigger battery and either a micro-SD slot or 16gb internal memory. I might buy it over the Droid if they did, I like WebOS and the form factor is small and sexy.

  • PalmSucks

Palm was late to the game. The Pre is ugly, has a tacky keyboard with small crunched up keys. WebOS has no apps and doesn’t have a future. Verizon won’t save it, they’re too busy pimping the Droid which is far superior. The future is Android.

  • Carlos

i refuse to take this training. The enV touch is all I need to show people then BANG!!!
