Whisper

We’ve been told that T-Mobile is in the process of rolling out their super-fast 21Mbps HSPA + network to a bunch of major cities sometime, “soon.”

    Real good detail there…

  • Jeromy

Damnit man, what does “soon” mean! all these teasers, reminds me of that chick in high school…

Just kidding, thanks for the update

    • T

      When will then be now?

      Soon.

I think we should all go past this. Past this part. In fact, never talk about this again.

      • Bryanz

        You just missed it.

  • Obj Juan

    Thanks for the details…

Uhhhhhhhhhhhh. Why is this post so useless?

    • ChocoTaco

It’s not useless. It’s just useless to you. It’s great for BGR because now you’ll be coming back 10 times a day waiting for an update instead of only checking once a day.

So… could it hit before Google launches the Nexus One? Is that the ultimate plan here?

  • John

Any handsets on the horizon that will be able to use this new found speed?

    • Aggie99

      @John

The Nokia N900, although not quite capable of 21mbps is capable of 10+, afiak it’s the only one that would come close at the moment.

  • betchplz

Cities this is happening in would be extremely helpful

  • grrr

I can”t wait for att to stop calling themselves the fastest. GO T-Mobile!

    • grrr

      can’t not can”t

I’ve found much better than expected 3G coverage with my new 9700 on T-Mobile – DC, Richmond, Norfolk/Tidewater, Fredricksburg. It’s been a nice surprise.

  • Eric

Siting sources would be useful, as other details, otherwise, it’s best to post news related articles until you have something more concrete. “Something new is happening soon somewhere sometime.” isn’t news. We already knew this was going to happen eventually.

      Eric,

You obviously haven’t spent much time on BGR nor seen our “Whisper” style posts.

They’re full of information we hear that’s not confirmed enough for a full post, but credible and interesting enough to still share.

  • Mankato

T-Mobile will upgrade 3G to 7.2 mbps by the time Nexus one is launched for sure. Some cities like NY, LA,Chicago might get the 21 Mbps “soon’. By Mid 2010 most if not all 3G areas will get 21 Mbps. AT&T will have to stop claiming fastest network at that point.

  • Paul

Does the BB 9700 support these speeds?

If not, what is the max speed that it will be able to obtain on a HSPA+ network.

    • http://www.bgr.com Boy Genius

Pretty sure the 9700 is 3.6Mbps limited.

  • tonyFate

sounds good! better speed! better coverage! Nexus One! 2010 HTC Line Up with possible T-Mobile phones! What more can you ask for? Maybe Catherine Zeta Jones? =)

    @Boy Genius,

I just want to confirm I’m a daily reader and a different Eric than the other noob. Thx.

    Posted from BGR Mobile (iPhone).

It occassionally says I’m connected at 3.5G on my N900. I’m not sure what that means though.

Those cities being Oz, Coruscant, and othe fictional places!!!

  • Witty

Sounds great BG, all these tards obviously don’t understand the concept of the “whisper” posts. I do, and this is great news. I love T-Mobile and I love BGR!

  • Killa

T-Mobile is BARELY in cities from jump street! On top of that, they’re hardly in the smaller cities. Furthermore, their edge network is just awful from my roommate’s experience with his G1/phone he had before the G1

Being the fastest is great I guess…but having a large 3G network is even more important. It doesn’t benefit me, the consumer, to switch the T-Mobile if I have to sacrifice my overall speeds outside of some major metro

  • GE918

Tulsa Oklahoma is still on Edge.

  • Galen20K

My 3G speeds with T-Mobile have always been Fast AND Consistant, screw the Haters. I LOve T-Mobile and its exciting seeing so many great things Happening with them. Keep it up TMOb!

  • Jim Dominick

I love my iPhone, but wouldn’t mind checking out the droid

    • StevenGlansburg

this has nothing to do with the droid, you are an idiot

  • Sublevel

I would agree, the post seems a little random. More information would be nice. Props to TMO for going to 21 , but I think the money would be better spend expanding their 3G network instead.

    • Jose

Im pretty sure T-mobile will do a bit of both. T-mobile has been expanding its 3G service pretty rapidly in the past few months.

  • Ghostnyc

    Great post, so much detail.

    Thanks TMO
