Leaked profile information reveals initial details on the HTC Espresso

Rumor

htc-espresso-profile

A recently discovered profile sheds some light on the HTC Espresso, one of those mystery phones whose codename was embedded in the leaked HTC Android 2.1 ROM. According to the profile details, the Espresso will have the standard 528MHz processor found in the Hero/Magic, a QWERTY keyboard and a 320×480 display. HTC Espresso = a QWERTY keyboard-packing Hero, any takers?

when will HTC start using better CPU for their android phones?!

HTC, I want to love you… but you’re choosing Windows Mobile over android.

  • jimbob

Might be nice for the guys wit g1′s

    • Matt Thompson

I -have- a G1. If I wanted this hardware with Hero software, I’d just install KingKlick’s latest Hero release.

      Espresso? No, thanks.

  • warhed

Maybe its a budget android. Who knows. Hopefully they beef up the specs on the “espresso.” Wouldn’t be surpise if it went to t-mo.

  • Champs

    Moar megamahurts pls.

Holding out for an AWS Droid over here.

    • Galen20K

I’m with Champs, this phone sounds like a complete DUD. Nobody wants a weak, under-powered 2006 processor with lame resolution as their upgrade for a G1 so no jimbob, its not nice for g1 owners.

      God people are Ignorant.

    • Tom

Hah, so the Milestone is coming with AT&T 3G bands, the Droid has VZW 3G bands… It looks like they’re only keeping it on networks that don’t suck, so AWS will never come.

  • jimbob

Well now that u metion it probably not but u never know if the specs are wrong and this phone kcks ass @galen

  • Evilbean42

Don’t get me wrong, I’d love to see 800-1000 Mhz on every new smartphone being released, but I don’t think a 528Mhz processor is going to doom this phone to failure. 528Mhz is enough to go up against every Blackberry save for the Bolds, and last time I checked Rim was doing pretty well. The original Hero seems to be doing pretty well with those specs too. A phone can’t be tested and reviewed just by looking at the processors clock speed. Also, we shouldn’t expect EVERY smartphone that is released to have better specs than all of those before it. Some phones aren’t meant to be the best, they are meant to be just right.

  • Tom

Okay BGR, you really flopped on this one. 528mhz, HVGA, keyboard, and you say QWERTY PACKING HERO? I’m sorry, is the Dream a QWERTY packing Hero? Or is it just a dream, and this is a clone? You obviously didn’t think, or you’re stupid, I don’t know which.

    • Fireball

BOO Tom go back to being everyones most unloved token friend on MySpace. Does anyone actually know how to get rid of this guy????? Do you have a tech site that people follow for upcoming info or are you just punk wannabe? Um anyone else thinking…. POSER?

      • Tom

Don’t act like a pissy little girl, my point was the Dream has the same specs as the Espresso as far as we know, yet it’s far from a “QWERTY packing Hero”… I just hate stupid assumptions, and that’s a stupid assumption.

  • allie

it’ll sell and that’s all companies care about. Not every phone has to be the next iphone, droid, or pre competitor. Chill, people.

I would be interested to see a hero with a keyboard, and no, it wouldn’t be the g1.

  • Jdizzle

Nobody cares about this stupid s#*€, or the stupid slam hog that wrote it. Apple is your guiding light, ask for the perfect phone and you shall receive (the iPhone) …. Droid sucks old droopy boobies

  • xFenixKnightx

Wheres mah HTC 1GHz Snapdragon processin’, qwerty slidin’, Dpad on the left so I can get my SNES romin, capacitive touchin’, 4″ glass displayin’, Android 2.0 rockin’, Verizon network rollin’ fricken phone at?!!!!!!

    RAWRRRR!!!!

  • Nick-Nick

And for dessert comes HUGE screen – 320×480 !! :)

    • Doug

I’ll pass on this phone. I refuse to buy another Android phone with anything less than a 3.5″ screen.

  • StevenGlansburg

Some of you need to stop jerking it to specs. Unless they are implemented correctly they really don’t matter (ie most Windows mobile phones).

    • Nick-Nick

Right, for Windows Mobile don’t matter…

  • RAS

Could be a winner if the specs pan out and aren’t compromised by the time it’s released. Sure hope Sprint picks it up.

  • Maulik

It will be good a hero with an keyboard

  • Jarrett

When will android finally ship 5 million in a quarter? Is it going to take 20 different phones? Or 30? I swear I know of a campany shipping over 5 million a quarter with basically a single model, just wish I could remember the name.

  • Nighthawk700

So how long does it typically take between a leak like this, and actually seeing the product on the market? This sounds like what I’ve wanted, but I don’t want to wait a long time either.

  • AndroidFANATIK09

The Android mobile operating system was, among many other things, supposed to be a community, too. Let’s support the manufacturers and carriers to go for these great handsets to increase their stock so Android can grow. That way, more people will join our ranks, & in turn those people will have more influence and can help Google, and the various members of the OHA, to consider new and more innovative changes. This possible handset spoken of in the article will help move things along.

T-mobile is getting some really nice handsets, hd2, n900, bold 9700 etc. They really offer some great stuff and where they have 3g its solid. I wish other companies verizon and att would get these super nice handsets
Once a ROM leaks out, the floodgates are opened. …Welcome to the wonderful world of HTC bootloaders, my friends. Espresso details: http://bit.ly/htc-espresso-details
