No more speculation — we’ve got the low down on that Verizon Wireless DROID/Eris buy one get one free sale that was rumored to start on Friday. From December 4th to the 7th, if you buy one DROID or DROID Eris, you can get one DROID Eris for free after rebate. Sorry folks, no free Motorola DROIDs on BOGO this time. If you are in the market for a feature phone, a BOGO promotion for the LG enV Touch and the enV3 also starts on Friday and extends though December 25th. So don’t bother making that trip to your local Verizon Wireless store tonight, put that plastic back in your wallet and sleep on it one more night. Pleasant dreams!

    @BETTY:

The only phone that is being discounted is the Droid Eris, which was originally selling for $99.99… so what is this you are saying about having to give away $200-$300 phones for free?

BOGO means you Buy One (Droid/Droid Eris) at regular price) and Get One (Droid Eris)for free.

    tht is very good

I just looked online and no where does it say you must have a new 2-yr activation. It just states a 2-yr activation per phone.

I called up VZW and they confirmed it can either be an upgradeable line on your family plan or a new line added to that family plan.

Although that is good news it is not good for me since I want the Eris and a friend just purchased the Droid. I do not understand why it should matter that the person is not on the same plan now with the ETF being so high no one would take the device and run since it would not pay off in the end.
VZW would still be making more money with the data plan either way.

Just got off the phone with VZ – my purchase (on Nov 11) is eligible for a free 2nd DROID, but my second line isn’t eligible for the upgrade. So in order to get the free DROID I’d have to get a new line (taking a $135 ETF hit by cancelling my CURRENT second line, and also losing my second line’s actual # in the process). The alternative option they gave me was “early upgrade 1yr subsidized pricing on upgrading that second line ($369-100 rebate, $269 total). Very upsetting. I don’t know why they just can’t bump my second line to eligibility range.

      Hey Muffnman…

Are you bitching and crying that you can’t get more for free? Should everyone just give you free stuff?

      • Muffnman

        Don’t feed the trolls.

        well that was rude

This is an honest question. What is the benefit for a new customer to buy through Verizon when there are much better deals out there?

On Dell.com the Droid has been dropped to $119 and the Droid Eris is down to $19. For new customers, $139 for both phones with free shipping is a hard deal to pass up.

    • Steve

Apparently even existing customers are eligible for Droid $119 pricing, according to Dell store.

  • JR

Advertised deal in Phoenix buy one Eris (not Droid) get one free.

  • chrisnyc

Went to the store and they said it doesn’t apply to ealry adopters. Only to new droids purchased.

  • Bob

Just got off the phone with Verizon. I bought the Moto Droid on launch date as a new VZW customer at Best Buy. I just added a 2nd line with a FREE Droid Eris via retroactive BOGO promotion.

  • Mark

I wonder if this is just a regular holiday promotion or the last push to get current Droids out the door before bigger and better things come out? This is a pretty great deal, but I REALLY want to wait for the Passion…

It’s nice to actually have to make a decision; us Verizon customers finally have the opportunity to choose between several good phones instead of just taking whatever crap they put out.

  • lulu

I see the same buy one get one free for Blackberry Storm 2 on Verizon’s website.

Is that what you tell chicks when you pull up in your Dodge Neon? “But but but.. I’ve got a BMW in my pocket.”

  • Eric

I owned a BMW… once. It was the biggest POS automobile that I had ever owned (and incredibly expensive to repair after the warranty expired).

It is silly to compare a cell phone to a car.

  • Jerry Marcus

Dead nuts on. The iphone IS like a BMW. Overpriced for what you get and expensive to repair. LMAO

  • Jones

LOL.. I know you would say something like that. And..um.. thanks, but no thanks on the facebook invite.

  • Peter

Let me know how close I am to guessing who you are. Senior at Rutgers U, majoring in Marketing, Pres of the frat (brah), planning on taking over dad’s pizza shop after graduation. That iPhone does go nicely with your Ed Hardy shirt and blowout.

  • Chad

WOW you are SO cool. Congrats on the M3, which as EVERYONE knows is the pinnacle of automobiles. And you paid for it outright too, and at the age of 21! Wow, truly impressive! And I completely agree with Peter.

The iphone never goes on sale because the world has a LOT more dipsh!ts in it than intelligent people. But whatever helps you sleep at night.

  • Mrwirez

    tool

  • Mark

An M3 and still don’t own a “shift” key? Please.

  • Cpete

buying a car with mommy and daddy’s money doesnt count as buying a car. and youre right the iphone is the BMW of phones overpriced and breaks down then costs as much as the car to fix.

  • P R

    Sounds like you’re dealin’

  • Mark

    +1
