Bell MiFi rumored to launch November 30 for $249.95

For you Canucks who love traveling or sharing your Internet connectivity, or both, we just received word that the Bell MiFi 2372 is going to hit soon. On November 30, you can pick one up for $249.95 or $99.95 if you sign up for a three year contract. The Bell MiFi, like the ones on Verizon and Sprint, can support up to five devices at the same time. It also has a memory card slot capable of storing up to 16GB of data and is compatible with both Windows or Mac operating systems.

    Correct me if I’m wrong, but it looks like one more way to SELL Internet service (Bell, Rogers, ….). They should give these devices away for free because they are useless with other carriers(, or not ?)

    You forgot to point out the most important thing. This MiFi is a HSPA version with 850/1900 bands. So an unlocked version will work on AT&T, Rogers/Fido and Telus as well.

    I’m confused… So how does it share the HSPA data connection with multiple devices? USB, Bluetooth or 802.11g/n?

    Also with a maximum of 5GB data plan available for $85 a month ($0.05/MB thereafter). Is that enough data for a portable home network device?

    Is there a real reason for the limit of 5 active connections? Will I need to set up another router to get around this?

    It sounds like I’d be better off getting an Asus wl-300g (or a router-board with 2 mini-PCI slots?) and putting in a 3G mini-PCI card.

    I certainly hope this device is perfect if this is the 2372nd iteration ;)
