Having been on sale in other countries for almost two weeks, the BlackBerry Bold 9700 has finally made it to American soil. Now available from T-Mobile, the Bold 9700 is the first BlackBerry to have AWS 3G. Other features include a HVGA+ display, 3.2 megapixel camera, optical trackpad, and support for HotSpot @Home and Visual Voicemail, but anyone keeping tabs on Waterloo’s latest surely knows those specs by now. So how much will the Bold 9700 set you back? $199.99 on a 2-year contract (Even More) or $449.99 outright via Even More Plus with the option to finance the device at $22 per month over 20 months. Now then, how many of you are going to be picking this up?

P.S. Nice job with the device pic, T-Mo.

Went to walmart this morning to try and get one with a $100 gift card. They had no idea what the 9700 was or when they would be getting it. Best Buy also had no clue. Showed up to the T-Mobile store about 9:15 and was the first one to get it. It was not even in the system under upgrades yet so they had to call to get the price. A more streamlined launch would have been much better…but coming from an 8320, I absolutely love my 9700!

  • and you know this man!!!

too bad that the pic shown isn’t even a 9700 in fact that is an 8900.

I saw this posted above but I was kind o hard to understand. AT&T will release this for regular customers on the 22 of nov. Posted today AT&T facebook

Gregg, what does AT&T say the price is going to be? I can only get it for $299 through my corporate rep. Ridiculous. Why is it more expensive on AT&T than T-MO?

Its been a long time since I’ve HAD TO HAVE something on launch day and this was one thing. I went on my lunch break (1PM local) to the T-Mo store. 1st person to buy one the the Rep said.

Im waiting to get off before playing with it and its killing me. LOL Coming from a Sidekick Im super geeked. Hope anyone that wants one gets one.

I also was the first one in my local TMo store to get one. Very cool! I just wish BIS wasn’t down tonight. Took a while to figure out how to open up the back to put SIM and battery in but all good!

I ordered my 9700 this morning….got up @ 6am just to call T-Mobile to ensure I got one before they ran outta stock. It will be here on Wednesday and I can’t wait! Finally, I can put this crappy G1 where it belongs…in the TRASH!!!

Anyone know if the 9700 is still planning to ship with the Amazon MP3 app integrated?
If so, how is it working in terms of downloading songs directly to media cards, etc…?

  • ron

  • Rosie

  • Travis

I got mine yesterday….and its fantastic! Its so much faster than my curve, and it handles online media so much better (couldn’t get much worse). Love this phone!

  • WazzuKirk

Best phone I have ever used, bar none.

if anyone could help me. I’m currently away from the US. Can I get my brother to get one outright (by way of the Even More Plus plan)? Will he be tied to the plan? and also, does it come unlocked or do I have to unlock it myself? Thanks.

Blackberry if improves its OS then they are really the king in the field of email centric device. In India they are still not focussing properly on retail and going by conventional understanding of customer here, they are losing a big potential. Their growth can be much faster than what they are getting now.
Blackberry is cult while nokia is generic

I picked one up today from my local tmo store. They had them in stock and the guy said lots of people have been getting them since monday. This thing is sweet!! The trackpad is awesome, the keyboard is great, the screen is awesome, and the 3G speed is really quick. Everything about it is better and I am sooo happy i waited for it…its a nice upgrade from my 8320.

All the people hating on tmo cuz they put the wrong pic on their site…haha, what a bunch of losers…get a life. Some web guy f&*@ed up and put up the wrong picture, who cares?

I had refused to upgrade my bb before b/c I thought that the previous models after the curve were all way too similar but I HAD to HAVE the 9700 and got it the day it launched for T-mobile, setting me back about $240 since I was upgrading. I am completely in love with this phone! The GPS is amazing which will set me back $10 a month which I don’t mind since I will be saving time and gas by actually getting to my destination on time. I love the Theme builder so I customized everything to my liking!!! The vibrate actually vibrates!!! So you feel it when it’s in your pocket. The 2GB memory card is awesome, I already had one since I had the curve but getting another one is cool. The trackpad is amazing! The camera is able to take very clear pictures in the dark and I can actually see my dark friends now!!! I love that I am able to lock my phone instead of having to wait until it locks itself so my friends don’t get random phone calls from me anymore. I guess cause it’s 3G but actually getting service once you’re above ground (am from NYC so the subway is my main form of transportation) instead of having to wait 5 mins. The browser is cool I think it could be a little faster but it does the job!!! I love to multi-task and I have yet to get the hourglass that I detested so much from the curve. It is so much smaller and looks girlier which is perfect for me! The battery is amazing as well!!! I also do not feel back to text and talk at the same time since the caller doesn’t here me typing or a trackball anymore! I just love this phone so much if not more than when I decided to become a bb addict

I have been around different carriers and hated my phone. I got the T-Mo BB 9700. it’s sick, its fast, trackpad is nice. and the 3g works perfect. T-Mo got it right getting this phone 1st. Crackberry addict now.
