TELUS bringing Motorola MILESTONE to Canada in "early 2010"

Uh oh, you know what this means, boys and girls. No, it’s not that we particularly care what TELUS is up to, it’s that the Motorola MILESTONE TELUS releases will have North American 3G bands (850/1900MHz). But, even though we’re not jumping with joy doesn’t mean you aren’t, and for you our dear Canadian readers, we’ve got the scoop on everything you’d want to know about the MILESTONE.

We’ve been told that it will be coming “only to TELUS” so it sounds like an exclusive to us, at least for a certain amount of time. That early 2010 timeframe is pretty vague, we know, but we’ve been told it is spot on and that Motorola and TELUS are planning to announce something in the next couple of days. Lastly, we’ve confirmed that just like its European brother, the Motorola MILESTONE for TELUS will feature multitouch out of the box.

Pricing is unconfirmed at this time.

    How do you KNOW it has North American 3G (HSPA 850/1900) bands? It might very well be the exact same as the verizon one. Don’t forget Telus is still operating a CDMA network as well…

    Wow you can buy this phone unlocked looks to be pretty soon for AT&T’s 3g bands at the link in the comments. Where I live I’ll take AT&T’s 3g over Verizons any day. I think I’ve dropped like one call in the last year so I don’t care what anyone says that’s pretty reliable. Plus it’s at least twice as fast as Verizons. With all that said I’m still not giving up my 3gs. Nice to know the option will be there cause it is an awesome device.

      You can get the HTC Android phone from Sprint (not sure of the name – maybe the Hero) which is basically the same as the HTC Eris (the other Android phone from Verizon). It’s great. I played with a Sprint employees HTC Android phone last week. That’s what made me buy the Droid from Verizon when it was released Friday.

      I could have gotten the employee discount through the aforementioned family member who works at Sprint, but their network sucks. At least in my area the coverage is atrocious. So I got the Droid through Verizon.

      Try the one from Sprint and see if you like it. If you can wait, Verizon is about to roll out a bunch of new Android phones – I would check with Sprint to see if they are doing the same. If you really want the keyboard you’ll have to wait since Sprint’s version doesn’t have one. The deals in January will probably be incredible.

    So, how much are they going to wreck it? They’re almost as bad as Verizon with phone-crippling.

    Or, more importantly, how easy will it be to use it on my Rogers? I have a contract to uphold ;)

    It’s not on Verizon and I still think it’s weak sauce. I guess I’m just not impressed with Android. It’s not truly open source and if you aren’t a developer does being “open source” even really matter?

    Additionally, there is something terribly unsettling about Google having it’s eyes on everything from your emails to your current location. Am I the only one that sees that as a bit too Big Brother-ish?

      Have you actually EVER used an an android device or you’re just trolling? If you did then you would know you can opt-out of sharing ANY info with Google, actually there is a HUGE button asking when you initially configure the device and another in the options menu should you change your mind later on.
      Unless you’re a developer, which of course you clearly aren’t, tell me how whether Google decides to protect their proprietary apps considered not being “open source” and how it affects you? Comment on stuff you have knowledge on pls

      As opposed to Apple having its eyes on all your stuff? Itunes is bad off but I didn’t need it threatening me when I downloaded an app OTA and not letting itunes know when it came time to sync

    I heard Telus Disables the WIFI on some of their smartphones to force you into buying their $50 a month data plans wtf!

        Not true (anymore), new HERO,iPhone and Bold 9700 all come with WiFi. TELUS changed their tune because people demanded WiFi. Similar to want happened over at Verizon.

      Far as I know, Telus never actually disabled WiFi… They just had phones without it.

      Anthony stick to Gizmodo, they seem to be more iPhone friendly, Boygenius and Engadget are a bit more unbias. Although it is fun down ranking your comments.

      I look forward to testing the phone out once its on Telus, email and messaging is more important to me than apps.
