3G and Wi-Fi toting Dell Mini 3iX party it up with the FCC

General

dell-mini-3ix-fcc

It looks as if Dell’s Android handset is getting ready for prime time with AT&T as a new filing found on the FCC’s website has revealed the Mini 3iX. With both 850/1900 MHz bands of UMTS as well as Wi-Fi on board, the 3iX is likely to be identical to the Mini 3i which was unveiled in mid-August by China Mobile, the only difference being the aforementioned. If this is indeed the case then we’re looking at a 3.5″ 360×640 touchscreen display, 3 megapixel camera, A-GPS and support for Microsoft Exchange. The question is, will anybody even care?

BGR did not looked the other way with VZW’s earning’s report for Q3, even though they reported T-Mo, Sprint, and I had to urge them to post AT&T’s.

probably because its sickening, how much profit they have stolen with these new ETFs and old news mystery fees.

Am I on the right site? This has nothing to do with Verizon… I better refresh my browser

If I remember right, this is only going to have a 528MHz processor in it… something that a lot of manufactures have used in the last few years and have now moved on and bumped it up. Im surprised Dell isnt going with a bigger CPU and a bigger camera. Its time to start making 5MP the minimum standard.

At least its Android and not a proprietary OS. Ill be curious to see if Dell puts any type of polish on the UI or if it will be a stock looking Android device.

They seem to be a little Verizon biased around here. I don’t really care if they have coverage all across the U.S. As long as I got coverage where I live and AT€T has definetly got the faster network. Up to two times as fast in the Nashville,TN area. So blah blah. I’ll keep my iPhone, screw a droid.

    @ Eric

U are right man I also have an iPhone for 2 years and a half, and I’m still in love with it like the first day I got it, screw the droid!!!!

WOW, I know it’s a blog and you’re reporting opinion not news, but you can’t have it both ways BGR. Asking “Does anybody even care” is not only sophomoric writing but also detracts a hell of a lot from your credibility.

So as you can see from the various posts, yes some people do care.

I usually pull up this site every day and read the articles on here. I am having second thoughts now due to BGR adding the “does anybody care” part at the end of the intro. I agree with BigBoy in saying that some credibility has definitely been lost here

That is a weird resolution (360×640). Android only officially supports Q/H/WVGA.

Looks like it’ll be a mid to lower range phone.

Hopefully it runs vanilla Android or they have improved the UI significantly, because the existing UI is pretty ugly.

I’m on AT&T and I want an Android phone and this phone isn’t that exciting for me, mostly because the one that launched in China wasn’t that exciting either.

My first thought was “Does AT&T really expect to sell a Dell handset?” But after taking a look at some of the pictures, it looks like it’s essentially a myTouch 3G for AT&T customers. This phone may do the trick for those who want a cute midrange Android phone on AT&T’s network. Looks like AT&T got the message from the iDon’t commercials.

with the screen size and if the build quality and engineering on on par with their pocket pc offerings in the past it could be a contender.

contender as it may seem it will be up to the consumer to judge it, as usual

I’ve been reading BGR for a while now and it does appear as if BGR has an axe to grind with AT&T. That said it’s very interesting to read the varying opinions (some informed, others not so much). My opinion is that I hope cell manufacturers keep trying to knock the iPhone off, because eventually we all win with the competitiveness and we reap the rewards of such fantastic devices. I recall just 5 years ago Motorola came out with a game changing device called the RAZR, and it was not only until last year did they stop manufacturing the RAZR line. I have always liked game changers, cause it always pushes innovation. I like my iPhone and I personally haven’t experienced any issues with my coverage, but then again that’s 1 point of view out of millions. I do want more out of my phone and look forward to Apples response with their 4th gen iPhone (if at all). Let’s see if this infusion of Android OS phones pushes the folks at Cupertino to take another innovative leap. And I hope the folks at BGR get over whatever quarrel they have with AT&T. The pot shots these writers at BGR take at the end of their articles truly are childish and take away the integrity of unbiased reporting. The people who posts their comments here aren’t necessarily held to that standard that I would hold BGR to. Play nice. :)
