Verizon HTC DROID Eris Unboxing: Part 2

One of our connects already did one for us, but there’s nothing like having a handset (and a box) in your own possession. Also what our guy reported seems to be spot on: this thing is thinner, lighter, and a lot more pocketable than Sprint’s HTC Hero. The only other change, we’re told, is that the DROID Eris has a proximity sensor on the screen. We’ll put together something more formal in a little bit, but in the meantime check out a couple photos after the jump!

    This may be old news, but Walmart.com is selling the droid for $150, bought mine from Bestbuy but got them to price match. Just wanted to let everyone know there is no reason to pay over $150 for your new droid.

      Buying through a third party has drawbacks. I’m on a VZW employee account anyway so I have to buy it online.

    When I purchased my Droid from Best Buy, they rang it up as $149 and it says price match. I just said thanks and didn’t ask any questions. I guess that’s why they did this.

    I did a side by side with my buddies Hero from SPRINT and the GUI is snappier on the Eric. Everything from scrolling to typing – just more responsive.

        Possibly because he has a bunch of apps on it already, while yours is brand new?

    Sorry to break it to a few of you, but Verizon is selling with new/upgrade 2-yr contract at $99…

    The Eris is only $99.99, after MIR, at a Verizon store.

    Nice phone, I like HTC along with Motorola. Both build great smart phones that last. But, no pull out keyboard.
    some people like onscreen, but with bigger hands, onscreen causes more mistakes.
