We’re sure that most of you are sick and tired of all of this Verizon news (how do you think we feel having to write about it?), but they’re on a tear. Today Verizon announced that it will be carrying the BlackBerry Curve 8530 starting November 20th. To go for $99.99 on contract after a $100 mail-in rebate, the new Curve offers the following: full-QWERTY keypad, optical trackpad, 2 megapixel camera, GPS, dedicated multimedia keys, 3.5mm headphone jack, 256MB of app memory, 528MHz processor, EV-DO connectivity and last but not least, Wi-Fi! Yes, indeedy, Verizon is definitely looking like the front runner in the smartphone arms race of the 2009 Holiday Season.Read

Sorry i’m just so done with my BB that i’ve become almost anti-BB. I must admit though that what it does do it does well.

WTF 2MP camera?!?!? way to cheap the F out

  • Bard

I wonder how much this will cost without contract. The g/f needs a new phone, but still has a year left on her contract.

Too bad the launched it with the WRONG model number! This has WiFi and SHOULD have been numbered xx50 like every other CDMA BlackBerry with WiFi (i.e. 8350, 9550, 9650). Way to confuse the marketplace ONCE AGAIN RIM!

  • PatrickC

I wonder if this means the HTC Passion is coming out on Black Friday?

I think I’m the only one who likes the G’Zone and think it needs it’s own story with some pics http://engadgetmobile.com/2009/11/05/casio-gzone-brigade-brings-whole-new-level-of-rugged-insanity-t/

The only thing anyone has to worry about is the fact that the BEST carrier is dropping yet another choice of equipment to use on the BEST network! Cmon every other carrier has spotty 3G coverage at best! Fuck the rest of yas, BIG RED FOR LIFE!

    • Don Louie Cantone

Way to state an opinion, no other carrier has 3G

Does this mean I can get rid of this godforsaken old curve and get that one as an upgrade? Pleaseohplease?

  • Doxiedad

Now this begs the question, should I upgrade to this or the Motorola Droid :(

BlackBerry Curve 8530? is it from verizon wireless? but why i can’t find it in the upcoming Verizon cell phones 2010 list??/??? what’s the matter?

    • Andrien Wang

Umm, it’s not on the 2010 list because it’s coming out on November 20, 2009! :-)

  • Stas D

This phone or the tour ? & why?

  • David G

Does it have international capabilities? I’m still in shock that the Droid doesn’t work overseas. How many business travelers have to stick with their BB because American companies still seem to think they only need phones that work in one nation alone. So much for the global community…..

  • Ryan

I just spoke to RIM and was told (despite the graphic above) that the 8530 is not 3G and thus would not work in Japan. Is that consistent with what everyone else is gathering?

  • @iphoneGS

well looks like the blackberry tour 2 aka essex will be out soon here’s the online video review http://macspotlight.blogspot.com/2009/11/blackberry-tour-2-aka-essex-gets-video.html
