DROID being released into the wild a day early?

Hardware

Droid-pile

Rumors are flying around the intertubes that Best Buy Mobile and Walmart are willing and ready to sell you your new Motorola DROID a day early. Grab your keys, hop in your mom’s 1986 Honda Civic, and go get em’ tiger. If you manage to commandeer a DROID today be sure to stop back here and let us know where you’ve had success, and you can always link to some pictures of your new toy in the comments. Otherwise, if you’re in the market for a DROID, are you going to be hitting a Verizon Wireless store tomorrow instead of DROID-chasing today?

Thanks, Brezy!

I went over to a Verizon store and played with it. I like the form factor, and the screen is to die for, but I tried 3 different units and felt the touch screen was WAY TOO sensitive. I rarely typed anything accurately on the virtual touchscreen. The keyboard is a little on the cheap side. I have a Samsung m900 Moment from Sprint, and I walked away even more satisfied. It’s a solid phone, though, but nothing to make me drop Sprint and my excellent coverage and rates and a great phone for the Droid. If I was already on VZW, I’d probably pick it up. Screen’s resolution, again, is really crisp, dude. Great job to Motorola for bringing something cool to the market, and great job to VZW for bringing a great Android phone to market as well. It’ll help set standards for future Android phones on other carriers by forcing them to compete with more advanced offerings.
