stealth

Forget the first commercial you saw, this one takes the cake. We’ve been told it should start airing on TV this week. Video is after the break.

Don’t believe me about the 256MB?

    http://www.talkandroid.com/phones/motorola/droid/

    • Daniel

Are you an idiot? RAM is not a spinning HDD. RAM stands for Random Access Memory, it is faster than flash but does retain data on power loss. The droid has 256mb of ROM for android and 512mb of memory for apps. Google is currently working on a project that will allow you to run apps from the removable flash memory, when completed this will make the iphones un-upgradeable memory look like crap. Please don’t talk about things you obviously do not understand.

  • Rick

Darko I bet $100 you purchase an iphone within the next 6 months.

    • Mannymanmanman

You can purchase one for 100 right now

  • chris

iphone is geared toward teens and 20 somethings….? serious dude im a A/C Tech i go to several clients homes on a daily bases and mainly there all late 20′s and up all the way to 70′s and Majority of them own iphones. then G1′s and then cheap phones. so your demographics is completely off based. and maybe you should see the commercial again and tell me what’s the majority age in the commercial dumbass. more applications…? NO more repeat fart applications. wow noob

    • Lizardking

Dude you’re an idiot…USING THE WORD DUDE..SUPPORTS THIS. I’ve seen the market research..that supports that people between 16-28, own more iphones than people above 30…..excluding women of course. The DRIOD specically targets that crowd…Have you seen the TV ads.

    • roulduke

I love that everyone is pissed when someone says something they don’ t know about. I am still hopeing for an unlocked version because we can carry this stuff till it is released to rural. Nice to know others the hateful things others have to say about the iPhone. Thanks for the ammo1

  • Lizardking

But I guess being an A/C Tech qaulifies you to know what EVERYONE in the world owns. You must be busy!

  • Lizardking

I will say this, the DRIOD is targeted more towards men than women. The iphone is appealing to young men and women of all ages.

  • Lizardking

I’m done..good luck on whatever phone you choose. Most important use your sense SAVE MONEY. LIVE BETTER.

  • Matt Thompson

    It leaves me confused.

  • yufus gristi

Does anyone here realize that the droid is only gonna have 256MB of application memory, and the only way to use the sd card for applications is to jailbreak the phone. What really sucks is that the android market will not have the coolest applications like the app store cause they are limited in size of how big they can make them.
    That Sucks

    • http://reviewerps.blogspot.com Brian Ward

I am pretty sure the app data can be stored on the SD Card and the executable only needs to be in the RAM. Like the camera stores photos on the SD Card.

    • That Guy

“Rooting” is an option. but the market also his this app called apps2sd. To you people who don;t have the common sense to “Root” a phone

  • Bamaman6985

The commercial is ok I guess. Sure didn’t give me the boner it seems a lot of ppl on this thread got. Just remember to see a doctor if it lasts morethan 4 hrs.

    • http://reviewerps.blogspot.com Brian Ward

I am excited about the phone and am getting it tomorrow – but it doesn’t excite me either. The mimicking of the start of the Empire Strikes Back does have some entertainment value.

  • protege

use up 256mb of memory first, then you can talk about the application space.

That is at least enough room for 150-200 applications.

  • Rick

The average application is between 20-30MB so how will 256MB fit 150-200 apps PROTEGE. And “justin” The iphone already comes in a 32GB for $300.

  • Gkbates

Here is the end of the argument…check it out

  • jay

    • idiot

      dat wudda bn hella funny

  • http://reviewerps.blogspot.com Brian Ward

Just ordered the Droid online. $99 – no rebates or tax or nuthin’ – overnight shipping included. Which is weird because Verizon has had a history of charging tax on the MSRP of the phone. Whatever, I am happy – though a little sad I wont have it until Monday.

    • Nicole

$99?? I can only find it for $199 – WITH a new contract. How did you score it for $100 bucks?!?

    • Jeff

How did you get this for $99. VZ website says $199?

      • http://reviewerps.blogspot.com Brian Ward

New every two on a family plan. The primary number gets an additional $100 off of their phone.

  • Paul

Droid is available to existing Verizon customers for $149 at any Verizon store on November 6th.

  • Mandy

Very cool ad, but I have some issues with it.

It very much resembles Transformers. If you’ve seen the movies, you’d know that the Transformers arrive to Earth in the exact way the Droid phone does. The sound effect at the very end of the commercial is taken directly from Transformers.

Also, I didn’t even know what the commercial was for. I had to search “Verizon November 6″ for a looong time before I found anything.

  • That Guy

wow . iphone better than android? I don’t think so. Good luck with your 8 gigs of apps .. but on my HTC Dream im working with 16 gigs of apps, music pictures and videos.

    Android FTW!!!!

  • sparrow

I bought the Droid on Nov 6th, I have not been able to put it down. I have done tech support for the iphone I think I can safely say…DROID ROCKS! Being able to run more than 1 app @ a time is the bomb! The screen res is an amazing (DVD quality (720×480 resolution) up to 24 fps capture; up to 30 fps playback). Yes it has less apps for now, but on the up side there are no baby shaking apps either. Having to pick between Verizon & At&terrible is a no brainer. Being able to just replace the battery instead of the whole phone is also going to be a nice plus. This device feels sturdy in my hand, the iphone always felt flimsy…..and with what I have had to explain to cust’s their warranty will not cover….welllllll…..lets just say it was not pretty. Verizon also covers LOST & STOLEN..enough said, go get a droid, you will love it.

  • lbird

Aside from all the posturing and marketing on this blog, here’s what an actual well-know reviewer says about the Droid’s inept amount of memory for apps: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748704576204574529724028203540.html

Sorry, iPhone still wins that one.

  • Drew

Lol fanboy much? My bro lives in ATL and I can’t connect a call to his iPhone 3/4 times….click and echo of myself. I have never had this problem with anyone else, ranging from sprint(mom), tmobile (wife) and other verizon (dad) .

The next couple of months are gonna be so much fun whether or not the droids does good or not. Unfortunately all of the trolling that is happening is keeping people from making an informed decision. Like general questions of phone features

Iphone has a great fan base that isn’t going anywhere. Its nice to have an alternative. now there are two phones, yuppy college kid, trucker hat, puma wearer phones and a geek phone. and the tweens get the $15 prepaids.

    Good times.

  • Dio

    Ah yes, the apply fanboy.

  • fatmonkey

Man, either you took your OWNERSHIP BIAS (look it up) WAY too far, or Apple pays the wrong guys for viral promotion.
Can’t you see you’re doing a diss-service to your beloved iPhone? how many thumbs down do you need to get the message?

  • its me

Anthony is probably Steve jobs behind his new 27 inch Mac sweating hard…LMAO!!!!!!!

Hi Steve! I love your computers-(I own one), but man you need to get flash on the next upgrade of you iPhone, and for Gods sake just let there be Google voice! LOL

  • Dio

So you’re Apple till death huh? Every post I’ve ever read of yours is how much you love your iPhone and AT&T.
To you nothing is even allowed to compete with it.
I will agree with the Storm part, I don’t know how people thought that would compete with the iPhone, but you have to admit the Droid will.

  • http://attrscattlovers DUMP-i DON’T NETWORK

IN 2010 VERIZON WIRELESS LTE i-PHONE WILL MAKE THE I-DON’T NETWORK LOOK LIKE THEY TRULY ARE..PHONY FOUKS.

  • SAVJR

That is rediculous…everyone should be aware that there is no perfect network or (i)phone and the one that works best for you is the one that provides the best service and features for your area. I highly doubt that over-night you became an expert at what we should have as phone – had that been the case then everyone would have the same. ASS

  • AusFest

Pretty sweet you get a choice though right. Oh yeah, go fuck yourself!

  • Zeek

Sorry to burst your bubble … but no matter how awesome the LTE speeds are, it will not change the game in 2010…. VZ is going to have to deploy non standard hardware (the spec is not yet finished)… they will beploy as little of it as possible to say that they launched in 2010… don’t expect actual widespread coverage from this until 2012 … badass or not.
