Verizon's HTC Droid Eris makes another appearance

Exclusive

Who’s up for one more shot of the HTC Droid Eris? One of our connects wrote us in and dropped this photo on us. They also said, “Overall the same as the Sprint Hero but for some reason it seems faster, slightly thinner and taller.” Otherwise it “seems the same” and is running Android 1.5. We already told you the Droid Eris will be powered by a 528MHz Qualcomm CPU, and while it won’t ship with Android 2.0, well, you know where we’re going with this

UPDATE: Updated with better shot!

Thanks, PhenomenalONE!

We all realize that nothing will ever be the iphone. The ease of use and the
coolness of the app store and itunes make the phone one of a kind. Lets face it. Most of us using smart phones are not using them for business applications. They are a cool toy. If you want a smart phone for business you’ll get a Blackberry or a Touch Pro 2. For those of us loyal to Verizon, we have to decide which toy works better for us. Winmo is difficult to use. I am hoping an Android phone is easier to navigate (and has better applications). So I am betting on Android 2.0. Therefor I am going with the droid. Also, I have had the Imagio and The Touch Pro 2, I like the slide out QUERTY keyboard better. I wish us all good luck in our decisions. We will know soon!

It sucks that you get such a low ranking for your post when its true. Nothing on the horizon seems to trump what the iphone offers in a UI that is so pleasant to look at. Unless Verizon gets the HTC Passion and releases is then I don’t think there will ever be an iPhone killer. Everything that people say is bad about the iPhone is good about the iPhone for a reason. Multitasking eats up memory and bogs down the system, taking pictures in the dark is overrated, 5mp pictures are great but most of us can afford a dedicated digital camera anyway if we can afford a smartphone, physical keyboard is great for some but I can type quite accurately and quite fast on the virtual keyboard on the iPhone, really the only thing not going for the iPhone is the fact that it is on AT&T. I’ll get 5 bars of 3G service with AT&T just to have my phone drop or even not make the phone call, have my text messages not send, etc. Verizon will completely annihilate AT&T and the iPhone if they get and release the HTC Passion with some apps. For those that complain about how expensive Verizon is, I guarantee they will immediately stop complaining once they try out an iPhone-like device on the Verizon network and will gladly pony up $100 a month for the high end smartphone/pda plan.

To AT&T: It is time to upgrade or back out. Let Verizon have the iPhone if you are going to hinder our ability to use it to its full extent by not upgrading your network.

To Verizon: It is time to stop stroking Microsoft’s and RIM’s egos if they are not going to put out quality products. Embrace Android and let it run unobstructed on your network without injecting your software into it.

To RIM: Blackberry device software is pretty good but needs some basic improvements like threaded texting, but their hardware is booooooooorrriinnggg. Also, quit playing the hardware game, either give all your phones WiFi, 3.2MP cameras, and trackpads instead of lousy trackballs or don’t make them at all. None of this 8500 series doesn’t have WiFi but it has a trackpad and a 2MP camera where the 8900 series has WiFi and a 3.2MP camera but only has a trackball. Make up your damn mind.

To Microsoft: Either make WindowsMobile look and perform like Mac OS X or quit bitching that Apple is kicking your ass because you can’t let go of old school software. Apple releases updates almost constantly for the iPhone and each one has a new important feature or piece of code in it designed to make the experience that much better.

To Apple: Quit trying to have such a stranglehold on everything and instead work with these companies in a way that you can make a profit and they can sell your product and make a profit too. They charge such high rates for data and such because you ask from them so much in the form of a subsidy for your product. We all know the iPhone is cheap to manufacture. You will get more of them in households if you make the device more affordable so that in turn the plan is more affordable. I can see an iPhone in every hand if you play your cards right. The iPhone is not an exclusive phone that is nearly impossible to get or afford nor should it be. It is a fantastic piece of electronic gadgetry that tied with the nation’s best network(Verizon) would be a force to be reckoned with. Verizon has constantly provided their subscribers with something more important than a neat phone, a network that is there when you need it, that and the customer service to back it up. I am so happy that I signed up with Verizon I will never look at AT&T the same way again even though I still have my contract with them with my iPhone for a couple more months. I get service in places with full EV-DO bars that AT&T can’t even give me 1 bar of GPRS(not a chance of 3G or Edge even). I used to dread taking my AT&T phone to Mountain High even(not really a remote place at all) because I would be lucky to get 1 or 2 bars of edge and maybe 3 of GPRS if I was lucky. If I needed help i’d probably be screwed. I’ve since been up there with Verizon, able to check email, send text messages, download attachments from work and send them back to co-workers and not worry one bit about whether or not I’d have service. Put that in your pipe and smoke it AT&T.
