Verizon's HTC Desire spotted in the wild, lauching soon

Had enough Android goodness yet? Good, neither have we. While we don’t have many new details on this one we do have an image — and isn’t an image worth 1,000 words after all? This HTC, Verizon branded, touch-screen Android handset has been brought to light (in a very low light setting) by a new connect. All they could provide (other than the pic) was that it was extremely fast, similar in size to Sprint’s Hero, and was sporting the luscious Sense UI.

Thanks, nmc1way!

OK SERIOUSLY PEOPLE NEED TO STOP WORRYING ABOUT WHAT ANDROID VERSION WILL BE RUNNING ON UP COMING ANDROID PHONES EITHER 1.5 OR 2.0 OR NEWER EVERY PHONE WILL GET THE NEWEST ANDROID VERSION TRU UPDATES FROM GOOGLE. THE ONLY PHONE THAT WONT GET THE 2.0 AND AFTER IS THE G1 CUZ OF STORAGE PROBLEMS. So every other android phone gets the newest update after or before a phone with a newer build comes out to keep every android up to date. So what people have to worry about is the form shape color and hardware and differnt UI the phone maker puts on the phone. And not android version. I dont think everyone sees that. Other androids won’t get left behind

“I’m with you jk. If they can compete on plan pricing that’ll make the difference. I don’t mind paying a premium for better service, but it’s got to be in the ballpark of the competition.”

They are in the ballpark, their prices are exactly the same with ATT. Sprint and Tmob are cheaper, but sprint is losing customers at those lower prices, and tmobile is too small to seriously pressure the other 3. You most likely won’t see a reworking in prices for the bit 2 until lte launches.

I am fairly new to the Android game. I am very intrigued by the Android devices making their way to Verizon and plan to get one within the next year. I am not looking for speculation, because all of the details will be revealed in time…

What I am curious to here is this :

    1. Which is better, Android 2.0 or SenseUI??

    2. Can “Google Experience” and “with Google” both run Android 2.0 and SenseUI if you want to change?

    Thanks!

this phone is very nice. ive had it in my hands. sense ui makes it run very well. it wasnt activated on network, so im unsure of if the phone would be slowed down a lot by the streaming information. i also messed with the droid. very nice too, has a good weight to it. the slide was good and the keyboard had a nice feel to it.

the difference for the decision is really keyboard vs no keyboard. im a storm user and have learned touch screen. im very excited for the eris and ill be getting that over the droid.

does anyone know if the desire will have a qwerty keyboard???

The phone will be called the Droid Eris by HTC. That’s how it has to be mentioned being the fact of the copyright on the Droid name by Lucasfilms LTD. Also, this will be running 1.5 while the Droid by Motorola will be running 2.0 also with a faster processor.

Otherwise, both phones fly like crazy through the web & the menus. The Droid Eris by HTC will have an 8GB MicroSD card preinstalled.

Anyone this the snapdragon processor is gonna be better then the droids? Does it matter? H.T.C. has a little bit better rep then moto at the moment for being reliable.

“launching soon” Anyway, it seems this one didn’t push through although.. the HTC Obsessions seems to have a synonymous name for this one. http://is.gd/8rOUv

Yeah this is finally coming out. That and the legend seems to be good choices, if you’re android crazy like it says in the article. Just waiting on some more pics, not many of them floating around just yet
