WIND’s smartphone lineup allegedly leaked

Rumor

wind-logo

The upcoming Canadian wireless entrant WIND has been pretty secretive about its plans other than the fact it wants to shake things up, but thanks to a tipster within the company, we might have just found out the handsets it will be launching its 3G network with. The first is the BlackBerry Bold 9700, the second is the HTC Snap, the third is the Huawei U8220, and the fourth is an unknown QWERTY slider from Samsung. Other than that, it’s alleged that WIND will start off with three n0-contract price plans, have no SAF, not charge clients for features like caller ID and voicemail as well as not bill for intra-Provincial long distance and all dealerships will be outfitted with Microsoft’s Surface. Sounds nice to us, but what do you think, Canada?

Thanks, Fil!

Ron – CRTC has canadian ownership laws in place for telecom companies and so far WIND has been unable to satisfy the requirements. Bell Telus and Rogers and fighting hard to have WIND removed – which I totally agree with.

Although more competition is a good thing WIND wasnt playing by the rules. Anyway the CRTC decision isnt too far away..

    @mangenius

do you work for the CRTC or something? From my understanding a company that would be in fear of not getting approved would have stopped hiring people don’t you think?

Would they really be posting on their website that they have made the required changes that the CRTC had demanded?

I don’t know how it would make sense for a company to keep pouring out more money to lose it all at the end of the day?

Can you explain that cuz you seem to know something the rest of us don’t..???

      @ Lighter

Mangenius’ statements about the CRTC blocking Wind Mobile’s entrance into the Canadian market is accurate.

I had 3 friends who got jobs at Wind Mobile in various capacities…2 days after their three week training period, they all got emails/phone calls stating that they were being laid off due to the CRTC crippling their Canadian market launch plans. So there u have it.

Now my friends are pissed, cuz they quit there jobs once Wind hired them, only to be jobless 3 weeks later. Big time bummer. Thank God I didn’t hop on the Wind Mobile bandwagon, i’d be jobless too right now!

WIND didn’t win anything in the spectrum auction for Quebec (they tried, though), so unless you’re in the Ottawa/Hull area, you likely won’t get WIND service.

Do you work for rogellus and therefore are their corporate apologist?

@mangenius, you would totally make sense if it weren’t for the fact that CRTC’s superior, Industry Canada, approved WIND’s activities and CRTC is now attempting to usurp power. Oh, and also that the CRTC is deep in the pocket of Rogellus.

And IMO, we should ditch these draconian laws. If foreign interests want to invest in Canada, so be it! We live in a globalized world, and since Canada is dropping global rank in pretty much everything we could use the boost.

If Nortel can be sold to Europeans, then I don’t see why we can’t have an Egyptian provide capital to create Canadian jobs.
