Verizon employees see the Motorola Sholes and Calgary emerge in internal tools?

Okay, this one might be a bit of a difficult thing for some people to accept considering it involves something that few people know about, but we’re going to throw caution to the wind and run wild with it. At pretty much every single Verizon retail outlet they have these little gizmos known as “Cellebrites”. These Cellebrites are used by Verizon employees to transfer customers data from phone to phone. And gee whiz, would you guess what two devices have popped up in the latest update for the Cellebrite? If you guessed the Motorola A855 Sholes/Shules/Droid/Tao and the Calgary A555, you’d be bang on. Mmm hmm. And of course you know what this means, right? Yes indeed, we might soon be treated to some official details of the already accidentally/on-purpose leaked devices.     A Mobil phone appearing in the Cellbrite machine does not mean a thing. I work for an indirect Verizon Wireless and we as well use Cellbrites to transfer phone numbers, pics, video etc. We update the machine with an Ethernet cable and it not only updates our Verizon phones but other companies too. There is categories for every single company GSM and CDMA so that picture could be taken at a different category.

    Hate? Wow. I was just correcting my own mispelling. Maybe when the Sholes arrives it will bring with it a new era of love and acceptance to displace the resentment/frustration that AT&T has helped fester for the last 2 years.

    The A555 is under the CDMA category, as Cricket is a CDMA carrier and their phone is listed 2 above it.

    And I’m hoping that the Sholes name sticks. I’d be ok with Tao too, but Droid makes me cringe every time I hear it. I can’t wait for an actual hands on with it.

    So what is the main difference between the Calgary and Sholes/Tao/Droid? They both run Android correct?

    Based off the model numbers alone (A555 vs A855), which kind of goes with what Izzyd says, the Sholes is probably a better performing piece of hardware that is capable of more tasks than the Calgary. The Calgary is most likely a Sholes-lite with lower specs. Where the Sholes has a 600MHz processor the Calgary will have a 500Mhz. Where the Sholes has a 5M pixel camera, the Calgary will have a 3.2M, or whatever the numbers may be.

    Enough with the iPhone/Att appologists. Take a trip via the Interstate into the bulk of the US and find out how good Att is. We that live and/or work in the non-Prius driving communities will take the Sholes, Storm2, etc. and carry on a conversation while iPhone-guy begs to pull into the Rest Area to search for a Wi-Fi connection. Oh, and I’m writing this from my BlackBerry World Edition while the iPhone-guy in our office plays games instead of cruising the internet. I don’t think there is an App for that. Thanks VZ for letting me check my email while I’m at a family reunion in NW Montana, I’ll pay extra (not much) over Att knowing that you are providing services in more areas of the US.

    Hey I really hope this phone comes out to Verizon… although i dont know if i should wait to see if Verizon will carry the Palm Pre or get this phone when it comes out… My plan is up for an upgrade this November.

    Having used the iPOS / iPhone for the past 14 months until some punk ass F stole it off me on the plane, I can say I can’t wait to be rid of the ‘more dropped calls network’. It’s pathetic all the excuses I got from AT&T and Apple over the iPOS. I’ve truly never owned a device that was so long on promise and glitz and so short on delivery. If you really want a business tool, you’ll be hating the day you bought an iPOS. I’m really excited for the day there’s an Android powered phone or two on a carrier like Verizon that has a network.

    Doesn’t really mean very much. When I worked for vzw, we would have phones show up in the cellebrite months before release. All this does is confirm they exist, which we already knew.
