Sprint telesales offering the HTC Hero a couple days early?

Your mileage may vary, but it appears that Sprint’s telesales has begun offering up the HTC Hero a few days ahead of schedule. We called telesales ourselves to check out the matter and were told that we could order up some Android goodness tonight for $279.99 on a 2-year before a $100 MIR. We’ve already given you our thoughts on the device and if you can deal with a little bit of lag here and there, it’s off to the races starting right now.

Thanks, JayTV and everyone else who hit us up!

Anyone wanna tell us the version numbers of the software (ROM specifically included)?

  • joe

    Software on my Sprint Hero;

    Firmware: 1.5
    Build Number: 1.29.651.1 CL69164 release-keys
    Software: 1.29.651.1

No it doesn’t mean you have no ethics, but you can’t expect to be able to stay on these “insider plans” forever without having to change. Other sprint customers are paying twice what you are paying for and ultimately SERO plans aren’t very cost effective . Sprint has no obligation to pander to your false entitlement to be “hooked up”. If you don’t like it I’m sure sprint wouldn’t mind being free of your money-losing plan

    > …1.29.651.1…

But BGR says the Hero they tested – that lagged – was software version 1.22.651.1. So they need to get another more up-to-date Hero and retest it,t hen update via a new article their results (to be fair…of course, they don’t have to be fair).

You’re sure about that “29″ part, right?

SERO IS NOT ALLOWED…I RESPEAT SERO IS NOT ALLOWED…….I REPEAT SERO IS NOT ALLOWED.WITH THIS TYPR OF DEVICE….PALM PRE IS NOT ALLOWED AND INSTINCT AS WELL IS NOT ALLOWED.

  • Genjinaro

@Jerry lol you have no clue what you’re talkin about. I cant speak for the Pre or that sorry crap called the instinct but the Hero can be activated on any plan. End of story.

ONE THEY DO AN AUDIT THEY WILL FIND THE TYPE OF PHONE YOUR USING AND YOU WILL KICKED OFF AND ASK THAT YOU GET ON THE CORRECT PLAN.

Maybe some of these early adopters can post a video since BG is so busy

  • Genjinaro

Jerry, when ordering the phone, the Sprint rep confirms that compatability works with the Hero prior to sale, they have to. Comon man, get real. Until the day that guess of yours happens we’ll be enjoying the better things in life.

Sprint still makes money off the SERO plans. Why would I want to pay twice as much for a plan that has less than I already have? Sprint is hoping that most SERO users will switch for the new phones. I am sure in many cases, that is correct. Sprint is not a great company… the only reason I am with them now is because of that plan. I wont pay $60+ a month for the service I have gotten from them. Especially the customer service. It is absolutely awful. Look at Sprints stock… it speaks volumes about the company. I will stay if I can get a phone I like. If not, I will switch. I will be another user Sprint has lost. Yes I am just one person, but it starts to add up. Look at all the customers Sprint has lost in the last few years. Its not pretty.

Vote with your wallet then, the C.S. is that bad I wouldn’t want to give anything

Went to bestbuy yesterday and without the rewards plan the guy was a jerk. Walked to Sprint to see if Sunday was the day and she told me she had it and would sell It to me. I was in shock and immediately got it. She said I was first to ask and to buy it in NY in the city :)

  • Pete Pididente

I wouldn’t give up a SERO either if I had one. Sprint is saying the phone won’t go on one (SERO) and requires one of their everything plans (sited previously). If you get it to work, good for you, but don’t count on it.

This one looks good but I’ve got to play with the Moment before I make a purchase.

  • Don Louie Cantone

In 3 weeks you should be able to compare hands on, phonenews is reporting November 1st as the Moment’s launch date, hopefully it will hit retail markets at that time

Hi, does anyone knows if the camera of this phone has flash?
