webOS 1.2 hits the scene

Software

webos-12

Just a quick heads up to those of you that are running with the Palm Pre — webOS 1.2 has been officially released and is now available for download. Bug fixes make up the majority of the changes, but new features include the ability to purchase apps (which has yet to go live) and the ability to download tracks from Amazon over Sprint’s EV-DO network as opposed to nothing but Wi-Fi. Has iTunes syncing returned? We doubt it, but we’re still waiting for our army of Pres to boot up. Until then…

UPDATE: Just like we thought, iTunes syncing is not working.

lol And I just sold my Pre and went to Verizon. Hope this is a worth while update for current Pre owners.

  • the1leftstanding

lol how much did you sell it for?

  • Jdizzle

Is it cool if I start a website claiming to be a genius when all I do is re-post old stories all day?

“but we’re still waiting for our army of Pre’s to boot up”

that’s army of Pres. there’s no apostrophe there – it’s a plural, not possessive.

hire a copywriter to proof all of those old, recycled stories.

    battery life seems better

Not to jump on the bandwage of bashing BGR, but who wants to bet either in a couple hours or tomorrow a post about the Garmin phone on At&t pops up????

  • Joe

Army of Pres? Or the one Pre that no one uses in the back of the drawer?

  • til

Why does that Pre have the battery percentage on there? Mine doesnt. Oh and way to go with tardiness.

Just installed. It is a much smoother experience than the lagfest I experienced the full day I had 1.1

Over 70 updates not bad, to bad I don’t have a Pre. I’m going to wait to see what comes out next year from Apple and Palm. http://www.precentral.net/over-70-improvements-expected-palm-pre-webos-12x

Wow, some of you are really lame. Going off over a typo on the Internet? Come on smh. And blogsites borrow from other blogsites all of the time. What do you think the whole concept of media & news is?

I like what Palm is doing with the Pre. The web OS seems to be great considering that it has been out for only some months. I’m looking forward to the future of Palm.

  • brum

    @ Dwayne, me too.

  • Iphone

Guess what? Palm is a piece of shit, get a real phone.

  • Don Louie Cantone

It’s a mystery how someone with a screen name of Iphone would call the Pre a fake phone when the namesake is a glorified pmp and sometimes phones. That has more to do with the network than the phone

You Pre naysayers are obviously not business users, and several of you are just idiots.

This is one helluva phone. I’ve been a power smartphone user since the first crackberry. They are my business lifeline while constantly on the road, and > 4,000 contacts on board.

The Pre rocks in its first debut and the Palm team understands business–Apple does not. Admitedly 1.2 update fixed a few things that were annoying, but I had the first iPhone for 2 weeks when it came out and THAT was a JOKE! Their new OS (ooooh…cut and paste!!) and 3GS is much better. I tried it again before I got Pre, but I took that sh** back. My money and my business is on Palm all the way.

Oh, and Sprint is a great network! I’ve been on every network at one time or another in every major city and airport, and BY FAR have had the least problems with Sprint. All the Sprint-haters are fools without any real data or experience.

The Battery % indicator is a tweak using WebOS Quick Install. I would wait until next week when the new version comes out in order to mess around with it. There’s a ton of really useful tweaks. That and Preware is what makes me love my pre.
