Amazon now selling the Palm Pre for $99.99

Palm’s had a pretty rough go over the last week or so — what with its earnings in the last quarter having been pretty dismal and the report that Verizon has possibly decided against carrying its flagship device leaking out. That doesn’t mean Palm is done putting up a fight in the weeks and months ahead, however. For now, the name of the game seems to be price drops as Amazon has lowered the price of the Pre to a very attractive $99.99, no rebates needed. Of course to get the Pre for a Franklin you’re going to have enlist for a 2-year stint on the S.S. Hesse, but at least you’ll be able to circumnavigate the globe. Oh wait, you’re actually pretty confined since Sprint’s Pre isn’t a world phone, but at least you won’t see any combat beyond Carrier Wars.

If only it came with a tiny pair of hands for the mini keypad…

So…does this add reinforcement to the original web page “leak” that the T-Mobile Motorola Cliq actually will be free with contract?

We all knew the price would eventually come down go earth. The iPhone is $100. Anyway, I love my Pre… Can’t wait for 1.2

Agreed. Never been so satisfied with a phone 3 months in. And to tRICKster its not the greatest keyboard ever, but i really have gotten used to it to the point of not noticing it anymore.

I would have to agree aith Ari and Worldbfree4me. I just got the Pre on Wednesday and wow…I am so impressed. I used to have the Blackberry Tour, but now I have my new baby! I really love this phone. The network is so fast as well. I couldn’t be happier, now if I can just learn to tweak it here and there without bricking it.

They BGR! Perhaps you should check your facts because Palm beat all analysis expectations and even Jim Cramer is jumping on board the Palm Train saying it will be one of the Mobile Smartphone winners.

This almost makes me want to jump from my VZW BB, but I’m still holding out for the next round of ‘Droid on VZW and WebOS for SPCS or VZW devices. The Pre looks sweet but the keyboard just doesn’t do it for me. Palm really needs a device built like the Tour but running this gem of an OS.

$99 AKA going out of business sale prices.

They are betting they can quick inject a user base, but it’s $99 AND you still have to switch to sprint.

The people have spoken with their wallets and despite all the buzz, and the initial sales surge of palm fanatics, the numbers are dropping sales wise each day.

People don’t want sprint and less and less people are buying a pre each day. That does not make for rosy long term game plan.

And now that verizon is a no go…. and ATT will probably only buy only a token amount of pixies… the best news today is that itunes 9 compatibility will be hear soon (wonder if they are going to still lie about their USB vendor ID, the USB IF told them to stop it.) and that 1.2 is delayed along with the store adds…

Android is going to start picking up the pre pieces as the next wave of their devices hit MULTIPLE carriers this fall…

Feel sorry for people that bought palm @ > $4…

“Palm beat all analysis expectations ”

and stop that. that’s like saying Dan Quayle got the spelling of the word correct, the expectations were so low, they could not go much lower.

Now that the iphone is $100 does that mean Apple is going out of biz?

  • roy95th

Palm beat on there earnings report.

  • Monty baby

    @designer,

Your a jackass. Go drink more of the Apple koolaid you arrogant prick. Keep getting bent over by AT&T just so you can have the Jesus phone. No lube for you asshole!

  • vlc15

Even if you got in @ 10 PALM is sitting at 16 right now for a %60 return. You can’t feel too bad about making that kind of money.

There have been plenty of smartphones that have price reductions, Apple and all the RIM lineup are prime examples. When they do it there’s excitement about new releases but now that Palm has they are going out of biz
