Oh no, we’re not done just yet ladies and gents. We already know October 6th is going to be a glorious day and now it looks like AT&T subscribers will be able to join in on the fun. Have you been feeling left out, wondering when AT&T would finally launch the HTC Touch Pro2 that is already available from T-Mobile, Sprint and Verizon? Dry those eyes, as AT&T apparently had a good reason to hold off on the launch. According to our ninja, AT&T is preparing to launch the Pro2 — dubbed Tilt 2 by AT&T as we already know — on October 6th. Since the release will come after Windows Mobile 6.5 becomes a reality on the 6th, it’s a safe bet that the Tilt 2 will pack WinMo 6.5 right out of the box if all goes according to plan. Sure, it might have taken a while but AT&T fans can now take solace in knowing they’ll be rocking 6.5 while other Pro2 owners are busy trying to upgrade.

UPDATE: It looks like the target release date of the 6th will be missed due to a few bugs that still need to be ironed out and tested. The new target is apparently October 18th.

Yeah I heard that too. I wonder what that means for their signal? Do they share the same frequency for 3G or perhaps the towers could be converted … who knows.

The interesting thing though is that ATT’s move to 850 for 3G will mean that the Australian version of the TP2 would work with full 3G (in theory right?).

Well, my Tilt just about had it, speaker sound is gone, keyboard turns on and off, so I decided to flash it with WM 6.5 to start working the kinks out, I guess it will be OK and run faster on the Tilt-2. BTW if the keyboard is not your style, you can always flash a Sprint TP-2 Radio and the top characters will be numbers. I can’t wait for the 16th.

No 3.5mm jack = no new phone for me. The Fuze beats the Tilt 2 with the exception of screen size and camera.

the ONLY reason I was going with the Tilt 2 was the 3.5mm jack. Looks like I have to find a carrier who didn’t (and doesn’t continually) fuck up a device to increase profits somewhere else. I used to hate Verizon for this, now they look better than AT&T.

Who in tarnation needs a 3.5mm jack anymore – that’s not a good enough reason to scrap an upgrade unless you have some unusual and specific application/use for the jack. Even stereo/headset/audio integration is handled by Bluetooth now – well beyond the simple use of a bluetooth headset.

The Fuze also doesn’t ‘beat the Tilt 2′ considering it’s a slower processor, lower res display and first gen slider/touch screen. Make yourself happy and upgrade.

The Fuze and the Tilt2 have the SAME exact inerds. Both have a 528mhz CPU and the same exact amount of RAM/ROM.

There is nothing different about the two with the exception of the larger screen of the Tilt2. The Fuze has a 2.8″ VGA 480×640 screen where the Tilt2 has a 3.6″ WVGA 480×800.

Basically the same phone otherwise. I have a new Windows Mobile build on my Fuze right then the stock new phones. If I flashed a Tilt2 to run my newer software… all I’d have is the same phone with a bigger screen.

I can’t justify spending any amount of money for such a small feature upgrade. I’ll wait until the Omnia II and HTC HD2 to hit AT&T. Those at least offer hardware upgrades.

so is the tilt2 a good phone???

While it may not justify an upgrade if you already have a Fuze, I consider the keyboard on the Tilt2 a big improvement over the Fuze. I am not crazy about the grid-style keys despite the fact that I have ‘piano fingers.’
