Sprint’s Instinct HD said to be available as of September 27th

Rumor

Ah, the Samsung Instinct HD. We know practically everything about it short of when it is going to launch and how much it will cost. A gaffe from Best Buy last month led us to believe that the Instinct HD would be dropping no later than the 26th however, and now an alleged internal Sprint memo has seemingly confirmed this. Okay, technically the memo says the handset will be launched on the 26th and available on the 27th, but what’s one day, really? Packing a  3.2-inch HVGA touchscreen display, 5 megapixel camera with video capture, Wi-Fi, accelerometer, HD video-out, visual voicemail and a “PC-like web experience”, the Instinct HD is expected to go for between $99 and $149 on contract, meaning it will compliment Sprint’s new Any Mobile, Anytime plan in terms of affordability and features. Hit the jump for the full text from the alleged internal memo.

    GMAIL client
The other versions never offered Gmail only through there nasty browser. Also only sync was with exchange? Why not at least offer google sync?

I got a promo piece of mail from Sprint yesterday (I have a netbook with their service) and it did have a picture of the Instinct HD on it, so it must be very close. I would say this is a correct statement.

Nice looking phone but I know most on Sprint who are considering anything “Instinct” are waiting on the “Q” coming in November.

  • mstarman

AndroidQ specs would be great to know. If it’s remotely in the same ballpark, Samsung would do well to feed the interwebnet ninjas some information before the launch of Sprint Hero.

Any word on whether this one will also have the resistive screen or will it jump on the capacitive bandwagon?

  • http://Betterthanhero! Donny

Guys this has better specs than the hero. Its more of a multimedia phone……but what will make a real difference to most people is support….. The old instinct basically had none. But since this based on Titan OS anything that android supports should easily be able to ported over…. That is if the designer of the program wishes to do so. Lets hope!!!! I have the iphone 3GS and plan to switch to the samsung HD.

It looks more like the instinct s30 than the original instinct. Isn’t the s30 only Evdo Rev 0. ? Can anyone confirm if this is a Rev A. handset? It would be a terrible decision to release this phone without Rev A.

    Fugly…..droid rules!!!!!

Looks nice….however with the Pre and Hero diluting the market, and the original instinct/instinct s30 owners having a sour taste in their mouth…I dint know hoe this will sell….

It does look impressive though…If they fix the web browsing and lag on the phone it might prove to be an interesting three way (yeah that’s right) between the instinct, pre, and hero.

  • boydroid

@ joe In no way shape or form is this pos on hero or pre level……droid rules

  • Joe

    @boydroid

it looks decent….I haven’t held one yet but if the browsing is revamped and there is SOME app support it could be a nice phone, a nice alternative for the Pre/Hero if those (for some reason) are not your cup of tea. As Donny said, the phone does have better specs than the Hero…the problems with the Instinct were OS lag, the soft keyboard was shit, the browser was HORRENDOUS, the screen was not very responsive, and the apps were NOT there. Fix those and it could be a hit (prob won’t, but could). It looks like all these will be fixed except the app support.

I am dying for the Hero though already.

I think the target audience is for people who want a simpler phone but with multimedia features. I know people who grab something like an iPhone or Pre and say, it’s too complicated!

  • boydroid

Blah blah blah……the instinct is crap,so what would make this phone apealing, you can put all the specs you want into it but at the end of the day its still crap, all the hardware in the the world means nothing when you cram it with junk software, that’s just my opinion, but samsung is a joke when it comes to cell phones…….droid rules!!!!!

  • Joe

    Fanboys…sheesh…no arguing

  • boydroid

joe,its called a opinion, you gave yours i gave mine, thats it,call me what you want but droid rules!!!!!

  • Ken

    get a room guys.

  • Joe

I am saying something has potential by looking at the specs and saying if problems get fixed from th e original…not saying it’s gonna be good…just speculating potential

you are just bashing a phone u haven’t even used yet…

There is a difference…even if it is just two opinions…

    Droid rules!

  • boydroid

samsung fanboy i guess theres a first for everything….droid rules

how many megapixels is that phone, I need a good phone for taking pics at concerts for my concert tickets website http://www.tixx.com. The iphone just does not cut it in low light concert setting

  • Will

I had an Instinct MH-800 and it wasn’t half bad. Over time, with a few OTA updates, many problems were addressed such as video quality, and sound and video synchronization, etc. But it appears, at least from looking at the features described and the looks, that there were a lot of consumer issues that were addressed. I hope it does well for Sprint. They need this to do well.

  • Celz

Good spam Billy boy lmao.. Why dont you get a damn digital camera you know the ones that are like 60 bucks at costco.. If you use cell phone pics for your website it must suck

  • http://www.amazon.com deathweezel

The built-in client on the original Instinct works fine with gmail.

  • HunterA3

I’ve got an original Instinct and the biggest complaints I have are the lack of calendar sync with google calendar, the fact that the UI takes up the entire screen so there is no real customizations you can make, not a big fan of the virtual keyboard but I guess that’s better than the tiny keys of the Palm stuff out there, and a total black hole void when it comes to additional apps.

  • Joc Dizzle

I would love to get this phone but the first two was just bad. I do like the Hero & Htc Pro 2.
