Motorola DEXT officially announced by Orange UK

In a move that doesn’t exactly come as a surprise, Orange UK has officially announced that it will be carrying the Motorola DEXT, the European version of the CLIQ, as its second Android smartphone. The DEXT will be offered in early October for as little as £0 to those who opt for a 2-year contract with a monthly tariff of £34.26. It’s not exactly cheap, all things considered, but it’s also not as if you can find many plans Stateside that offer 900 minutes, unlimited texts, data and use of Orange Maps for around $56.50 per month.

I’ll tell you what….This is not smart by T-Mo at all….This is..or could be a hot device if marketed properly. The keynote at mobilize was a bust and disorganized…and now this open ended window of time for it to be released..I understand trying to capitalize on the time of year a Nov release would be, but this new information about a pre-order starting late October is nothing short of stupid. There are going to be a slew of device coming out by then…and I’m sorry but a last ditch effort by Moto to stay afloat seems suspect at best with the likes of the hero, pixi, sholes (G*D willing), Storm 2, Omnia 2 and whatever else is going to come out. Bad form T-Mo…the masses are craving some Moto Blur action a week ago…Don’t make the mistake of releasing this the same time another android device is dropping on a carrier with a bargain plan…

Cool phone indeed, but if there was a plan like that here, i’ll get it, no matter whos the carrier

Sprint’s plan is pretty much the same, plus 14 more dollars and taxes…so hopefully they are pushing the market that way
