T-Mobile’s BlackBerry Bold 9700 press info leaked

Embargoes. Some blogs honor them, some don’t. But what to do when a carrier sends you information assuming that you’ll agree? If you’re like friend of the site Al Sacco, you’ll deliberate and then decide for the first time ever that you’ll run wild with the story. And that’s exactly how we got this image of T-Mobile’s BlackBerry Bold 9700. Sporting AT&T-style white numbering on the keypad, optical trackbad, bevelled display and a ridiculous amount of sex appeal, the Bold 9700 looks as if it’s all but going to cannibalize sales of the other full-QWERTY ‘Berrys in Magenta’s line-up. And that’s just fine by us because really, who doesn’t like the sound of a T-Mo BlackBerry with AWS 3G, Wi-Fi and GPS? As for when we can expect to see T-Mobile offer the Bold 9700, the literature didn’t say, but considering it was to be held under embargo until early November we think it’s safe to say that what we previously said about a relatively coordinated world-wide launch at that time still holds true. Maybe even an earlier release from across the pond

I was in an AT&T corporate store on Tuesday and chatted with the manager about the 9700 Onyx, while my wife eyed an I-Phone. He told me it’s “weeks away” and coming. That’s my new ride when it gets here-period.

Yes-she’s getting an I-Phone; loves that Facebook app.

Essex? yes plz. But the onyx will be awesome too. Onyx, Storm2, Essex, the maturation of a dynasty. After those three I think we will start to see more dramatic upgrades to the blackberry platform (software wise and hardware wise).

Notice the “A-List/My 5/MyFavs/Whatever” on the screen of the device, kinda foreshadowed AT&T’s announcement today.

Nvm, and this, didn’t see that it was on T-mobile’s network at the time.

Uhhh…. Hello, it’s coming to Tmobile! Has everyone forgot how bad there service is! I had a curve 8900 for about 3 days, it was terrible! Great phone, but service was terrible here in NYC… I’m just partial to vzw or the death star… AT&T here in the city! Slick looking phone, 100%! I’d grab it on AT&T if they dropped it, which they probably won’t cause there so far up apples ass they have apple seeds pouring out there ears. And I agree the Bold is one of the best BB to date. Reliable and a beast! Yup bad 2 mega pix camm, but other then that, a work horse.

    My questions:

    What’s the price?
Will it have UMA? I’m hearing rumors about it maybe not including UMA due to incompatibilities with the 3G chip. That’s T-Mob’s killer app, imo. Especially coupled with the BB platform.

    Let’s see

Jeremiah and somebody named “Beaverkiller” are calling me “ignorant.”

Because I prefer my Bold to a device that isn’t even released a yet. I haven’t even owned my Bold a full year and according to these two geniuses, it’s already obsolete.

Listen up, I’ve owned a 7830, an 8830, 8300, then my Bold. Then the Storm, then the 8900. Not going back to Verizon so I can try the Tour. Played around with a buddy’s Tour. It’s ok.

So Jeremiah, I don’t need to beef up the Bold to make myself feel better about my phone. If I find a berry I like better, I get it. Period.

The larger screen and keyboard are important to me. I’m almost legally blind. I have a cornea disease. I LOVE the bigger screen.

BTW, beaverkiller, I never even heard of you before today. At least today isn’t Jeremiah’s first day at school, so to speak.

I love my Bold. sorry it’s such a piece of shit according to you guys. I still love it. Works real, real good for me.

    CH.

I’m waiting for the 9700 for AT&T because it has 3G, 3.2 mp camera, and Wi-Fi. Any word on when it drops? I hear Q4- I’m holding onto my Pearl as long as I can.

  • Brin

    That would be a yes!

  • Jeff

I was at the t-mobile store this weekend and the sales team said November for the 9700. Hopefully sooner.

  • Missy

I can’t wait until Nov. 11th when it comes out for T-Mobile. I have the BB 8820…I enjoyed my phone…but it’s time for an upgrade and get my camera back!!!! I been waiting since July, for the release date..I guess T-Mobile will be keeping me longer!!!

I talked to T-Mobile and she said that the phone will be coming out this winter sometime. She heard about it.

  • bchan

Anyone know if it will it have video capture??

  • Pati

Does anyone know if it has a Flash?

  • tbone

Word from the inside release is Nov 12th if they can get all the bugs worked out

  • Sundi

T-mobile customers be careful before you buy this phone thinking you will be using this on 3G. T-mobile is claiming 3G but check with them multiple times(I would call multiple times to confirm with different people) to make sure that this phone will work on their 3G band which is different from the more common 3G bands. There are a limited number of phones that work on t-mobile’s 3G bands, which is 2100/1700. The ones that are being sold unlocked do not appear to be compatible so the one released by t-mobile would have to be specially designed to work.
The phone would still work on EDGE but you wouldn’t be able to use 3G.
Trust me I know- I have a Nokia E71 that I use on T-mobile that I’m not able to use on their 3G network but I was aware of this when I purchased the phone with research

    • pnxrock101

As you stated your phone doesn’t work on T-Mobile’s 3G b/c it’s an unsupported device. I have yet to see t-mobile release a phone claiming 3G and it not work on the network.
