HTC Touch2 to launch alongside the “Windows Phone” movement on October 6th

General

Get a load of the cojones on HTC. Not content to let Nokia have all of the fun today over in Stuttgart, HTC has announced the Touch2. This little sucker will run Windows Mobile 6.5 with HTC’s very own TouchFLO overlay, and it will be one of the first smartphones to take advantage of all of those new fangled features that constitute a Windows Phone. For the time being, HTC is keeping mum with specs but we’ll be sure to let you know just as soon as they land in our inbox — even though we think we know full well what we’re dealing with. The HTC Mega, err, Touch2 will launch in unspecified markets on October 6th.

    Where’s the leo?

So, I’m guessing that “unspecified markets” means everywhere but the U.S.

Thus, an Oct. release has it hitting the states somewhere in june-july 2010.

Just in time for WM 7.0.

    @ badchad,

I agree. Not holding my breath for this either.

HTC is going to have some real competion for this platform in Q4. Nokia N900, Sony Experia X2, Samsung Omnia II, etc.

HTC needs to learn how to make a camera. No matter how many megaixels they provide, the pictures look crappy. They also removed the flash on most of their new phones. Furthermore, they still provide only 512 of onboard memory while everyone else is providing gigabites.

I love the quality of HTC equipmeent, but I feel they need to get away from Qualcom’s hardware and provide something more. Hopefully, this is snapdragon at least.

Also, the GPS on the Qualcom boards suck – they take too long to acauire location.
