Apple reportedly building 13-inch and 15-inch tablets in addition to 10-inch model

Rumor

We all certainly remember what happens when sites doubt Gizmodo’s “reliable sources” — Steve Jobs’ health, anyone? As such, a particularly interesting rumor emerged this morning that Apple tablet hopefuls might want to take note of. Citing “a source that has always been 100% reliable”, Giz claims to have been informed that Apple is currently working on 13-inch and 15-inch tablet models in addition to the 10-inch model that is all but confirmed by now. The source states that two prototypes reminiscent of big aluminum iPhones currently sit in a factory in Shenzuen, China. He or she also claims that at least one is confirmed to be running OS X. The source could not confirm whether these units were prototypes of what will ultimately be production models, or simply demo units of some kind. While it’s known that next month’s Apple event will have absolutely nothing to do with tablets, it might be a pretty safe bet that some kind of tablet announcement might not be far behind.

    “Who’s gonna buy portable laptops with 8″ screens?”, and “who’s gonna buy a phone, a Phone! made by Apple Computer?” HAHAHA! gimmiegimmiegimmie!!!

    I use an Imac at home most of the time, but I don’t know about the tablets though. It would feel weird typing on a virtual keyboard. Plus, those prices are unreal. This may end up like the old Apple Newton which was ahead of its time, but failed as a PDA.

    @christexaport,

    Again the blame it on Apple fandom for their success. *smh*

    Well buddy it will be a success.

    1) it will have an awesome interface. The iPhone/iPod Touch already has brought a slew if people who never touched an Apple product before let alone a smartphone, because of it’s ease of use.

    2) the tablet size will facilitate tabloid reading. So now all those periodicals and magazines and newspapers that have been trying to figure out how the hell to charge for digital content people will be willing to for, now is their chance. iTunes
    Will quickly rival Amazon in digital book sales, digital comic books may have a truley viable platform of a device to grow on. The larger size makes it much more viable for a long read and for movies and tv shows.

    3) it will easily talk to the other Apple products like the Mac, AppleTV and iPhone and share content info and much more. Controllingu AppleTV is great right now via my iPhone. I can see the tablet streaming to the pad all of the content to the Mac Tablet.

    4) the app store will still be offering a slew of stuff for this new Apple Mac Tablet.

    Look the haters can continue to hate for stupid reasons but you guys are just waiting fir the brand you are a fan of to do the very same thing Apple is doing. So when they copy Apple and you’re jumping around all happy because your preferred vendor finally did it. That joy you are feeling is the same as those people who bought and are satisfied with their Apple product. So be happy and stop hating.

    Apple is not the source of your unhappiness. All the other manufacturers had their chance. Apple isn’t going to claim they invented the tablet. They are just going to build a tablet that employs Apples methodology.

    @ Terry:

    Will it be “interested to see what they do with a tablet” or “interesting to see what they do with a tablet”?? Just curious.

  • Erpphn

    @Terry,

    on the contrary, I had an AT&T 8800 smartphone with WinMo before the iPhone and that was easy to use so why don’t you and your stupid other fanboys go express ur false-beliefs somewhere else.

    If Apple does it right,this will be the dawn of a new era of portable computing,
    “Mass Media” will potentialy get a new lease on life and on that note, I agree with “MadSkillz”.

    As I said before regarding the introduction of the first generation, 10 inch:
