Nokia unveils its very own 3G netbook, the Booklet 3G

In case you were wondering, netbooks are still very much in the market and Nokia is looking to join the game. The world’s largest mobile manufacturer has announced the Nokia Booklet 3G which looks to be a promising contender in the netbook space. Like others of its kind, it will support Windows, feature an Intel Atom processor and pack a whopping 12 hours of battery life. Design and construction looks to be top notch with its 10.1 HD display, front-facing camera, Bluetooth and an SD card reader. So far, the Booklet 3G seems to be packing enough punch to knockout its competitors, but this is just the beginning. We’re expecting more details and demos at Nokia World ’09 just days away. From the looks of the video, however, we’re actually drooling for one ourselves. Hit the jump for more details.

    Pass. I’ll wait for Apple’s MacBook Touch, or whatever they’ll end up using…

    … Personally, I don’t think it’s a great idea to be putting Windows on these. My girlfriend has an HP Mini and XP runs as slow as molasses! It’s awful! Can’t wait to see what Google Chrome has to offer, but for now I think I’ll pass on these if they run Windows.

    HDMI + 12 Hour battery life seems like a pretty expensive prospect. Looks very nice though.

    So – how long before Nokia puts Maemo on it?

    Wow – nice job Nokia! Very slick package indeed.

    As for Windows on “netbooks”, speaking from personal experience with my Acer Aspire One, I’ve had no issues with either XP or Windows 7 – I am also aware that I’m running these on a 1.6ghz single core cpu with 1GB of ram – that being said – XP runs nicely and Win 7 runs better than what one would expect.

    I would think that besides windows, Nokia would promote the idea of other operating systems for the Booklet 3G.

    Nice package but what about a Maemo booklet? Or how about a Maemo Tablet with cellular and/or wi-fi abilities. Or maybe a cheaper and better marketed N97. Or what about a US 3G E90?

    Nokia really needs to get it together! They have so much ability and such poor marketing.

    knowing nokia they will make 3 versions of it one for worldwide 3g(first release) a year later will come att 3g and then 6 months after that tmobile 3g

    cmon guys, palm was unveil foleo with their own brand os and failed. so would you people stop complaining about windows, there’s more things to do with windows than other os could do

    While Windows can do a lot, the key to this type of device is “Netbook” meaning internet usage. It can’t be that great with Windows being slow. Safari Browser, Chrome, will run somewhat fast I’m sure, but I think that the OS being just generally slow on these types of NETBOOKS will frustrate customers a lot.

    Looks too capable to be true, even w/ Ion. Still, if the price point is between a Mac and the lenovo S12, I’d definitely be interested.

    Wrt windows on a netbook, for ~ $500 I put together an hp 2133, 2gb ram, and an mlc ssd and the result is more than adequate. You just have to know how to tune xp for ssd (nlite, no swap, no defrag, solidstate, etc.) Win 7 makes it even easier.

    I like the way it looks and at 1.25kg with 12hrs of battery life, you really can’t go wrong. I use my Dell Studio 1535 laptop for university and it can feel quite heavy at times. I’d much rather carry a lightweight mini-laptop than a heavy full-sized laptop. I just hope Nokia’s Booklet 3G isn’t too pricey.

    Advocates of open source cloud computing OS, such as Chrome OS, definedly do not have privacy issues. Open source = easy to hack. Cloud computing = your data will be stored to internet, not in your hard disk.

    Total nonsense. If you like sex with strangers without condom, you might like also cloud computing OS.
