Samsung's Instinct HD shows up on Best Buy site

Exclusive

S50, M850 and Dash be damned, it’s pretty clear now that Samsung has latched onto the “HD” trend for its latest Instinct handset. Spotted by one of our eagle-eyed readers on Best Buy’s website, some of the Instinct HD’s most talked about specs are now confirmed, including the 5 megapixel camera with video capture, HD TV-out, Wi-Fi and visual voicemail. Pricing and availability info aren’t yet listed, but the wording, “Prices effective Sunday, August 23rd – Saturday, September 26th” certainly suggests a launch some time before September 26th. As for other info to be gleaned from the listing, the Instinct HD will be a Best Buy retail exclusive (sorry, The Shack) and an Essential Message & Data plan or an Everything Plan with Data will be required with activation. Hit the jump for an the enlarged pic of the Instinct HD.

UPDATE: We’ve added an exclusive shot of a Best Buy promo sheet after the jump as well.

Thanks, Benny!

no, it is not. our EV-DO REV 0 smoked AT&T’s and VZW’s. we beat AT&T’s by almost triple… that’s our EV-DO REV 0 network. our 3G speeds are amazing. 4G (Wi-Max) is even quicker… if you live in the markets that have it.

Damn! HD video recording! I hope the InstinctQ offers that.

You know, we really don’t know if what we are assuming will be the “Instinct Q” will indeed be an “Instinct” to begin with in the first place. It’s all speculation, right now. It could be a keyboard having Android device running on a CDMA network made by Samsung. Besides, I don’t see the merit in having 4 different Samsung Instincts on the market for one carrier. That’s kinda silly if you ask me. It’s a cool little feature phone, but it ain’t that damn hot.

Dude, wait… Am I hearing this correctly? All the hate that everyone was pointing in the Instinct HDs direction for the HD being a fake naming scheme, all of a sudden now people are questioning their iphones for a possible switch due to more reliable data, HD recording OR a switch to the Instinct Q due to Android? I do not believe…

    @ willywill82
Also the reason they are sticking to the Instinct naming scheme makes sense to me. Its because the Instinct name has some cache, it is the best selling phone they’ve ever had. Which means its free advertising, people already know the name, they already saw the deep voiced commercials before and had heard of the iphone killer(which wasnt true). But hype is hype and makes for a lot of idea that your product is superior. Look at the iphone.

@evbean42: Question – regarding your point of yearly update with a Sprint premier a/c, have you been able to do that every year actually?

If you have been able to upgrade yearly, instead of every 2 years, to a new phone at the lowest upgrade price, that is a great benefit.

I’m a sprint customer too, but not premier yet. Tnx!

What Samsung is doing for Sprint is no different than what RIM is doing for everybody else

    Thanks for the post.

Definitely no distinctive outlook for the Samsung Sprint.

Is that a camera flash I see? If so, very nice. As long as the call quality is there and you can download some nice apps, we should have Sprint’s flagship phone here. Hopefully we can get a great native browser and some really big internal memory. More phones should have flash memory instead of relying on memory cards.

There is backgrounding, if you look at the pic of the phone that little tab in the upper left is a task manager. There is a flash, accelerometer and light sensor. AMOLED glass capacitive screen. programs include facebook, myspace, twitter, pandora, youtube, opera mobile(not mini) and many more.

also forgot to say , supposedly syncs with itunes as well

Sprint service is great.. if its bad just force roaming to vzw.. last month i was at a resort in palm springs where vzw was bad and sprint worse, i just forced to vzw and even tho i missed calls i didnt miss as much.. customer care is totally different nowadays.. the bad cs is gone, the nextel bleeding is almost done, and the handset selection is good.. two hi end wm, two android, palm pre, bb tour, instinct hd and whatever else may come is not bad or the 2nd half of 09

It all depends where you live and work and how you use your phone. Pretty happy with Sprint phone and 3G quality in Houston at home and work. My only issues were in a highrise in the galleria area. All others users (ATT, SPrint, Verizon) in my department had similar issues, so it wasn’t the network is was the building.

I go camping a bit and my main complaint is the lack of “roam only” feature on my BB and previous phone. This forces the phone to always search for a Sprint Signal and drain the battery when a clear available roaming signal was present.

That said, I have tried every carrier except TMobile (well did when they were called Voicestream) and just select based upon covergae and features, and not just the phone.

I like the iPhone but wasn’t willing to break a contract to switch. I won a BB Bold and ATT still wanted a 2 year contract with me bringing my own device. No thanks. Waiting to see what phones launch for the holidays. Not loyal to any carrier.

well i had t mobile verizon and sprint i would choice sprint well coverage is maybe in somespots less then verizon but its faster in data and if u have a smartphone u get all include for free like gps navigation and tv. well verizon u pay more on on a blackberry and pay extra for gps navigation and they dont have tv on there smart phones at all shitty. so meaning u pay more for less. what is bulls… . and t mobiles costumer service is just awesome great in all ways and they have some great phones. well sprints line up is weak but hey they have the tour and the palm pre what rocks verizon looks there phone just period for all free apps aond stuff. blackberry working with free gps nav on verizon nope only the storm can do it. shitty again so ur stuck paying the 10 bucks more for it. and hey 99 bucks for unlimited everything no one has a better plan by far u will be fine on sprint.
