T-Mobile launches the Samsung Gravity 2 as The Shack launches T-Mobile sales

Retail

We scooped RadioShack’s The Shack’s initial T-Mobile launch portfolio earlier this month and as the reborn retailer kicks off its T-Mobile offering, the one missing piece of the puzzle has just fallen into place. We knew Tmo’s new budget messaging machine was due some time this month and we knew The Shack would stock it from day one (today), so since it wasn’t available yesterday… One plus one apparently does equal two. Coming in an an ultra-affordable $29.99 after mail-in rebate on a 2-year contract, the Samsung Gravity 2 features a side-sliding QWERTY along with a 2 megapixel camera, MP3 player, Bluetooth and microSDHC support. In other words, it’s the perfect handset for a light user looking for a text-friendly cheapo or a tween looking for a phone that comes in “metallic pumpkin”.

@james: You’re a flipping TUH TUH TUH TOOL!

So how exactly is the Comeback $74.99 while the Gravity 2 is $29.99?? I feel like the Gravity 2 is worth more than the Comeback, but that may just be me.

GREAT PHONE! for texter. Battery life is much better than I read/expected (Gravity 1 initially had issues with battery monitor app.) My battery lasts 4.5+ days with a good amount of texting every day. (Had it for 1.5+ weeks now, charged it for the second time today) Call clarity is great, earpiece volume loud, speakerphone great, good intuitive menus, tones are fully configurable. The only negative I have is that the phone is a little slippery. I fixed this by adding clear plastic strips (viewscreen protector type) on the sides and back. Invisible and No more slippage :) This is the best phone I have owned so far. 5/5

For those of you who are heavy texters, this phone is what you want. It’s also nice to have for calls; the audio is very clear and understandable. The battery lasts about 4-5 days after first charge. As said in this review, this is a good phone for preteens and teens due to the widely accepted cyber-trend of texting among young people. Despite the somewhat-trashy design, this is a great phone and is very cheap — which is beneficial for those of you that are into the great features packed inside.
