Sense UI definitely coming to the Magic, myTouch 3G users S.O.L.

News

Good news: HTC’s Sense UI will indeed be made available to owners of the HTC Magic come October. Bad news: Owners of the T-Mobile myTouch 3G and any other “with Google” variants of the Magic are going to be left high and dry, as most have presumed. The reason for the lack of love is legal as the Android licensing agreement that T-Mobile and others signed forbids them from getting all cozy with Android’s hot new look. Lame, yes, but at least a few people are going to come out on top with this. For those who feel burnt, please take our advice: hit up the xda-developers forum.

T-Mobile, HTC, and other carrier/manufacturers need to be competing by bringing us better hardware. They should think about leaving the UI to the Android folks and making sure the latest and greatest hardware is on US soil instead of just in Europe and Asia.

The sprint hero is a “with google” branded phone and it has sense ui. So, what’s their excuse again for not putting it on the mytouch?

I’m rooted and ready. It sucks for people that don’t want to root there g1/mytouch phones. I could have this on my g1 now, but I would miss out on the blue tooth support. Once this “official release” happens, the wonderful dev’s over at xda will have it on my g1 in less then 2 weeks.

notice they said it’s about T-Mobile’s signing. and more specifically it has to do with signing that the Google Experience phones that don’t have the Hero-type look don’t get an upgrade. you can’t get a different ui, only what google gives you. google seems to have given sprint the right of way to use the hero ui on the hero. since this ui wasn’t around when the g1 and mt3g came out, sucks for you. i have a g1 but then there’s XDA-developers so no matter i’ll get the new ui anyways
