HTC Touch Pro2 and Samsung Instinct s50 to hit Sprint on September 3rd

Rumor

Sprint subscribers might be feeling somewhat slighted thanks to the carrier’s poor showing in this morning’s exclusive, but don’t fret. Thanks to an alleged leaked Sprint document, it looks like the HTC Touch Pro2 and Samsung Dash, or Instinct s50 (official successor to the Instinct), are slated to be released on September 3rd. There’s no shortage of info and pics of the Touch Pro2, which will be available on each of the four major US carriers, but the s50 has yet to be seen — officially or unofficially. Could this be the AMOLED device headed to Sprint that everyone’s been hootin’ and hollerin’ about? Is it possible that the device will also be sporting Android in light of CEO Dan Hesse’s announcement that Sprint is finally ready for the matured OS? We’ll know in less than a month, but we’re guessing (and hoping) that the distinguished honor of being Sprint’s first Android-powered handset is reserved for the HTC Hero.

Cant really say where I saw it but I’ll tell you that I did see the Instinct S50 and it is PIMP! You guys/gals will love that phone. I myself am waiting more for the TP2 but wouldnt mind the S50.

As per sprint represenative, all PDA/Smartphones require the data plan:(

The s50/Dash/Instinct HD/Instinct Duece/Instinct 2 or whatever it’s supposed to be has some really cool specs and is a few weeks from release but isn’t mentioned by itself. Everybody is getting the Touch Pro 2 so give this phone some coverage

ron, you won’t get far because the upgrade discount only is one per phone”

Jaba, Don: STOP the misinformation. If you are coming on two years you ALWAYS get new customer pricing on handsets with Sprint. They do this to keep you from churning your account. I have a three line Free and Clear plan on Sprint and it is expiring on Sept 15. Three different reps confirmed to me I can get three Pro 2s for new customer pricing on all lines. BTW I keep my existing plan and all its discounts (free powervison and free text on all lines, free airave, and 5% discount) get $50 per line resigning bonus on top of the phone discounts!

Not if you have an existing plan of any kind. Check any of the user groups. people are getting PDA phones like orginal touch pro, treo pro etc on SERO no problem up to present moment.

NL, what misinformation did I give, one discount per phone. ron made it sound like they wanted to use two ugrades for one phone which can’t be done. My case, I have two phones eligible for upgrades but can only use one for the new Instinct. The primary is Premier and can upgrade yearly while the rest have to wait 22 months but i won’t be able to use the two eligible upgrades on one Instinct

    Don Louie,
The yearly discounts are minor, it is the two year discounts that are relevant on PDA phones.
For example if you are buying a TP2, assuming it lists at $650 and sells discounted at $250, you would be able to get it on existing accounts going out of contract for $250 and would be able to get four or five ALL at that price. If you are one year the discount is would be $150 for hte first phone (making it $500 cost to you) and $75 off the others making them $575.

I do not really think many people are using the one year discounts because they are proportionately very low, whether of $150 or $75 off, compared to two year discounts on PDA speakerphones on Sprint often of $400 to $500 off!

Sprint PDA Smartphones, New in Box with clean ESN, from ebay sellers with 100% reliable ratings, and fully warranted by Sprint due to their new warranty policy, are ALWAYS selling for less than $150 off of “list price” anyway, so you would be a fool to buy a PDA smartphone from sprint not just with $75 off but with merely $150 off as well. It only makes sense to buy such phones from sprint if you are getting the full out $400 to $500 discount at an out of contract tor approaching out of contract situation when Sprint will give you new custoemr pricing on all your phones.

The one year rebate is only $75 for non-Premier accounts or subs lines. The Premier upgrade is for the Primary line alone and it’s new customer pricing. You make it seem like if one line is eligible all of them are, think you need to read up on the upgrade policy more. I’m very knowledgable about Sprint and just wanted to point out you can’t stack upgrades, it’s one per phone and in some cases per year and if eligible, either $75 or new customer pricing. It’s one, the other or none with no middle ground

2 things worry me. 1) even though you can activate the current pro on old Sero I have a feeling Sprint will continue to try to alienate the loyal customers by making an “everything plan” required. That just sucks too bc I have the $50 Sero and 25% discount on top of that. I am only hanging around for the TP2 and if they bully me that way I will have to say bye bye to Sprint. I understand it is a ridiculously cheap plan for what I get and if they said something reasonable like “upgrade your data plan for $10 a month” or something I could live with that but I can’t justify going from $38 to $99 or basically pay $60 a month to have a nicer phone.
    2) The current price for the buggy TP1 is still $299 after the $100 rebate and with T-Moble selling the TP2 for $350 I doubt Sprint will come out of the gate less than that. Pretty nice chunk of change for a small piece of hardware. I can buy a nice laptop for less than that.
